Chapter 88: Coco’s strength

Chapter 88: Coco’s strength

Coco panted heavily.

Her eyes darted around in a panic, darting between the trees, her mind racing as she searched for something to jump on— not necessarily to jump on, but she at least needed a way out, a way to escape the flying pig and its relentless attack.

Coco was looking for something, anything, that could provide them with a brief break from the flying pig.

The first thing she thought of was to jump, her mind recalling how she killed her previous catch of flying pig which made her look for something.

A tree branch? A fence? Even a nearby rock that could give her a quick leverage to leap to safety.

Although, lady luck seems to be out on a vacation right now due to her running for almost an hour and still has no luck on finding anything she could use.

Much to her bad luck as of now, the ground was extra treacherous than usual which was strange— she has been using the same ground to back and forth from the mountain to the village.

But then again, despite the lack of options, Coco continued to look, her eyes never leaving the ground as she searched desperately for something that would give them an advantage.

She was looking around frantically that even Zaque could see the desperation in her eyes, her breathing coming in short inhale and exhale as she looked for a solution.

Their situation right now made him realize why Coco didn’t want to bring him in the first place, Zaque tightened his arms around Coco and frowned, his lips trembling as the weight of his stubbornness weighed down on him.

It was dangerous.

If she knew how dangerous it would be, why did she agree to let him tag along?

She wouldn’t be struggling to keep the two of them alive if she told him how dangerous it would be, that the danger she was talking about was equivalent to death.

His mind raced with thoughts, negative and unwelcoming thoughts.

Coco, on the other hand, was oblivious to what Zaque was thinking as her eyes continued to flickered around, her mind coming up with an alternative.

With the area around them being desolate, the trees and bushes provide little in the way of a makeshift platform, she knew that if she didn’t try to do something right then and there, then the chase sequence would continue to prolong further.

The fact that the flying pig’s feathers continued to rain down on them as well, the sharp points coming closer and closer as the pig closed in on them, doesn’t help.

Think, Coco! Think! She hissed to herself in her mind, her eyebrows furrowed in fright, her grip on Zaque tightening ever so slightly.

Oddly enough, the mediator in her arms doesn’t weigh anything so running through the forest was easier than she thought, but since the flying pig hasn’t stopped chasing them, she’s growing tired of sprinting.

Just what do I need to do to get out of this situation— Coco’s thoughts came into an abrupt stop when she spotted a boulder in the distance.

Her eyes locked on a large rock almost immediately, the rock standing out against the green surroundings.

She could feel hope flaring inside her, the sight of the boulder giving her a chance at escape and she didn’t waste any time to push herself harder, her legs pumping as she raced towards the boulder.

She could hear the flying pig’s feathers continuing to rain down behind her, the sharp sound of each feather reaching her ears, but she ignored those and focused ahead.

Once she reached the boulder, her body lurched upwards as she leapt onto the rough surface.

She landed on the boulder with a thud, her feet planted firmly on the solid surface and without pausing, she pushed off again, her body leaping high into the air.

Zaque’s red eyes went as wide as saucers at how fast everything happened, one moment they were still on the ground, the next moment they were now in the air and all he could do was swallow the scream that wanted to escape.

"Hurry, Coco!" Lala squealed out of fright, her voice shaking as she cried.

Coco didn’t have to be told twice, her eyes were already fixed on the tree branch overhead, and let her dominant arm free from Zaque’s weight, her hand reaching out to grab the wood.

Just as her fingers were about to make contact with the branch, she felt a sharp sting as the flying pig’s feather grazed her leg, making her groan, but she still managed to grab the branch.

Her fingers closed around the tree branch, her grip tight as she held on and pulled not only herself up, but with Zaque in her other arm as well, onto the branch, finding a perch on the sturdy limb.

She barely paused in her movement, her hands immediately lifting the man in the air as if he weighed nothing.

"C-coco..? What are you planning— AHHHH!"

In a sudden and unexpected move, she launched him upwards, tossed him up and sent him flying up high into the sky— she was still moving as he went flying through.

Zaque’s eyes widened in shock as he found himself suddenly in the air.

Coco moved with amazing speed, her body soaring in the air in a powerful jump, her body arching through the air as she lunged at the flying pig.

For a moment, Zaque was frozen with fear, his body suspended in midair, but strangely, a part of him trusted the woman who had thrown him and knew she wasn’t going to let him fall.

He watched her as she moved towards the flying pig, the sight of her focused expression, eyes trained on the monster— she displayed her otherworldly strength and sent a shiver down his spine.

The flying pig didn’t even have time to react before she was upon it, aiming her dominant hand that she balled into a fist.
