Chapter 89: Farming Date Failed... Successfully?

Everything happened so fast.

In a quick single move, Coco took down the flying pig with a punch, her fist snapped out with incredible force, her blow landing squarely on the flying pig’s face as the impact knocked the monster off balance.

There was a sickening crunch as her knuckles connected, the flying pig’s body recoiling from the force of the sudden blow.

She didn’t stop there though, she continued her attack and not giving the pig a chance to recover.

While she was still suspended in the air, she executed a kick, her leg flying out in a swift arc and her kick landed solidly with a loud crack.

The force of her attack sent the pig flying back, its wings flapping wildly as it attempted to regain its balance, but Coco was quick to send another kick before she started falling.

The impact of her second kick was so powerful that the flying pig was thrown back, its body slamming into a tree with a loud crash.

The flying pig was knocked out cold, its body sliding down the tree before slumping to the ground, its wings flopping on its body in a dramatic manner, as if sending itself the last prayer.

Coco slammed down on the hard path, her body crashing on the ground with a heavy thud, making her gasp out of shock.

She was so focused at taking down the flying pig that she had forgotten that she still needed to land on her two feet and that was a stupid move on her part, she would have dwell on it, reprimanding herself and all.

However, her eyes snapped upwards, just in time to see Zaque falling from high up in the sky.

Despite her exhaustion, Coco scrambled to get off the ground, panting heavily as she lunged forward, her arms outstretched, trying her best to catch him just before he hit the ground.

Her reflexes kicked in and were lightning fast, adrenaline coursing through her veins, her heart racing at the thought of not catching Zaque and it only worsened when she stumbled, barely able to keep herself from falling over.

The mediator let out a small cry as he was caught, his body falling into the woman’s waiting arms— the fall was hard and knocked her forward.

However, she was fast to wrap her arms around the taller man and spun herself around, forcing Zaque to get on top of her so her body cushioned the impact and prevented him from a painful fall.

Coco’s body hit the ground with a thud for a second time, the force of the fall knocking the wind out of her.

She lay there for a moment, feeling the pain of the fall, and the exhaustion of the chase starting to take over her entire being.

Zaque’s eyes widened in surprise when Coco managed to catch him, the force of his fall stopping abruptly, finding himself wrapped in the woman’s arms in an awkward embrace, his body pressed against hers.

As the mediator lay there in the woman’s arms, his head trembling as Coco took deep breaths, then he felt something and froze, his mind racing.

He couldn’t help but think about how close he was to her, how her arms were holding him tightly against her— he froze when he felt something stirring within him, a feeling he couldn’t deny.

The awareness of the feeling of their bodies pressed together had hit him, the warmth and closeness of their position making his heart race.

Since Zaque could feel the rise and fall of Coco’s chest as she breathed quite heavily, he felt goosebumps rising in his arms and tried to ignore the electricity that seemed to shoot down to his lower body.

Zaque swallowed thickly, there was a physical response that he was acutely aware of, a feeling of closeness to the woman that had him scrambling to get off her.

He could still feel her body pressed tightly against his, making his body feeling hot and flushed.

"A-are you okay?" Zaque asked, getting off on top of her and kneeling beside her instead, his voice gruff with something Coco couldn’t pinpoint, but she’s too tired to actually worry about it.

As much as she wanted to answer the worried mediator, she just continued to lay still on the ground, breathing heavily, blinking slowly and staring up at the sky.

Despite the exhaustion, she felt a sense of satisfaction knowing the flying pig was taken care of and not only that, she also catched Zaque in time before he hit the ground.

"Coco!" Lala’s shout echoed in the air and Coco could hear the way the fairy’s voice shook, "Oh my god! Coco! Are you okay?!"

Again, she didn’t answer the fairy like she did to Zaque.

"Waaaah! I’m so sorry, Coco!" Lala cried out, dropping herself on Coco’s face and letting her tears soak Coco’s cheek without remorse, "I don’t know how I could help..! I’m so sorry!"

Coco only groaned as a response, her eyebrows furrowing as she shut her eyes closed.

Lala gasped, her cries ceasing for a moment, staring at Coco with wide eyes and then, she went back to crying, "She’s mad at me! Waaaah! I’m so sorry, Coco! I’m sorry!"

Thankfully, Coco recovered quickly— actually, she just wanted to go back to the village and end the day as soon as possible— and dragged herself back to her unfinished home, leaving Lala with Zaque and the dead flying pig.

She picked up the basket filled with lettuce and the picnic basket Zaque used for the bread then made her way back to the fairy and mediator.

"Sorry." Coco mumbled towards Zaque as she hauled the flying pig over her shoulders, "This was supposed to be a farm date, but this monster just had to ruin it with its annoying squeals."

Zaque froze and turned to Coco, his grip on the picnic basket tightening as he watched the woman walk away from him.

In an instant, his face flushed.
