New World with Four Husbands -
Chapter 84: Zaque’s wants
Chapter 84: Zaque’s wants
"The nerve of her to say that she has a partner and that partner of hers was the one who has been doing delivery at our house? She’s shameless!" Zaque hissed under his breath.
He left Coco standing there because of the anger and agitation he was feeling.
How could someone like Coco Hughes be so shameless and admit to her husband that she has someone else? She looked like she didn’t know that she did something wrong, too!
Just how could she?
After all the things she said? That she would pay off her debt? Get the house fixed? Give them money every week? Divorce them—
Zaque abruptly stopped in his tracks, pausing mid-step, his body going still as he stood with his back to his wife.
Divorce them? Is Coco still planning on divorcing him and the other three husbands? So she can marry that other woman named Jacques? Is that it, huh?
That must be it.
Zaque came to the conclusion and felt his hands balling into a tight fist, clenched at his sides, his knuckles turning white with the force of his anger.
He could feel the tension radiating off him, his negative emotions threatening to boil over as his thoughts continued to race.
The mediator’s shoulders were stiff, his jaw clenched tightly as he stopped walking away from his confused wife.
His face was scrunched up in a frown, his red hair tousled and unkempt, but tied in a low ponytail, a measly attempt of keeping it from blocking his sight.
His red eyes were clouded with agitation and frustration as he shot Coco a glance over his shoulders.
Despite his anger, however, the man turned back to his wife, his expression softening slightly as he began to think of ways of sticking to her.
He sighed, his shoulders sagging slightly as he come up with a plan. Slowly, he walked back towards the black haired woman, his expression still tinged with anger, but no longer as intense.
If she was still planning to divorce them just so she could marry that woman named Jacques then he might as well stop her from doing that, right?
"Take me with you." Zaque said to Coco, his expression twisting into a neutral one.
Coco blinked. "What?"
"Didn’t you hear me? I said.. Take me with you." The red haired mediator repeated what he said and pointed towards the village gate, "Out there. To where you always go. With you."
"No." Coco did not hesitate to reject what he wanted and shook her head, "It’s too dangerous."
"That’s right." Lala agreed with Coco’s reason and crossed her arms, her mouth full and still chewing, "Coco can’t take you because you will be just a burden to her! Just because you gave us something to eat doesn’t mean you’ll get what you want, you know!"
However, Lala’s loud ramblings was only clear for Coco’s ears because all Zaque could hear was a bell ringing.
Zaque turned to Lala for a moment before he looked back at Coco, "It won’t be dangerous I’m with you. You’re there to protect me, right? So, take me with you."
Coco’s eyebrows creased together as she blinked owlishly towards the first husband.
Just what does he want?
He walked away from her because he was upset, but he suddenly came back and announced that she should take him with her to the mountain.
She could barely escape the monsters she encounters and almost killed herself in the process of eliminating them so how could she protect him if Lala’s sister suddenly sent a quest her way?
Just thinking about the worst case scenario made Coco’s head throb.
"The answer is still no." Coco said, groaning slightly while her voice dripped with firmness, "I don’t want anything to happen to you while I have my eyes on my crops. It would be best if you wait here, safe and secured."
Zaque’s eyebrows furrowed further and raised his arms, crossing them in front of him.
"You told me that I should tell you if I want something and now that I’m telling you what I want, you refused me." The mediator stated, a quiet scoff escaping his lips which made the fairy gasp.
"Did you hear that?!" Lala exclaimed, her face twisting into an expression similar to bewilderment, a look of disbelief crossing her eyes, "He scoffed at you! Who is he to scoff at you?! The nerve of this man—"
Coco merely grabbed the fairy’s body and tucked her in her robe to stop Lala from attacking Zaque in the face; that will probably result in several light scratches on his beautiful face.
"The answer is still no, Zaque." Coco was firm with her answer, her eyes void of emotion as she rejected his manipulating tactic.
"I would rather have you wait here for me while I do a quick check on my crops then I’ll visit the house before I go to Jacques’ house." Coco sighed out, the look of exhaustion clear on her face, making it clear for him that she wasn’t in the mood to entertain his shit.
"Tsk." Zaque clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth.
Coco’s eyes went wide a little when she heard the sound. Did he just click his tongue towards her?
"That’s the exact reason why I want to come with you." He said, his gaze narrowed at Coco, the frustration evident in his red eyes.
"What reason?" Coco asked and tightened her grip on the handle of the hoe before she paused, shaking her head as she let out a sigh, "You know what? Forget it. I don’t even know why I’m speaking with you right now."
The mediator’s eyes went wide, "But—"
Ding!
