New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 81: Bath and box

Chapter 81: Bath and box

After what happened at the clothing store of that strange woman, Coco made a beeline towards the Red Horse Inn.

"That soap’s scent suits you, Coco." The garden fairy commented, sniffing the air around the bathroom as Coco scrubs herself clean, making sure that every nook and cranny of her body is free of dirt.

She cleaned the under of her nails, double checking if there was any dirt left there, when she saw none, she rinsed the bubbles off her body.

"If I remembered correctly, I took the chamomile scented soap because the other soaps smelled better than this one." Coco hummed out as she finished taking a bath, pouring water over her head and shuddered involuntarily.

"You’re so generous when it comes to those mean people." Lala pouted, crossing her arms in front of her.

The fairy may have witnessed how the second and third husbands almost experience the worst thing possible, but that doesn’t mean that she has changed her view of them.

"Mean? Coco Hughes’s husbands?" Coco asked, confirming if her assumption was correct.

"Who else? They’re the only ones who receive something from you daily!" The fairy exclaimed as she turned her head away from Coco, puffing her cheeks out in a dramatic manner.

"Haha.. Sorry, Lala." Coco knew that she wouldn’t be able to ask for forgiveness easily, but she still apologized.

"They were abused and I think got cheated on by Coco Hughes. How can I turn a blind eye to their suffering? The best I could do is give them money, give them a roof over their heads then divorce them." Coco said, standing up and squeezing the water out of her hair.

"But why do you have to go that far?" Lala frowned, the pout on her face was gone, "They don’t even say thank you to you whenever you give them something to eat."

"Maybe they will say it one day." Coco said, a feign hopeful smile on her lips.

"They won’t." The garden fairy interjected.

The conversation ended right there and Coco took that chance to wear her previous clothing, albeit wet because she washed it using the chamomile scented soap before she left the bathroom to get back to her room.

The Red Horse Inn has their private bathroom that could be used to take baths, just like in Japanese public bathhouses.

She’s relieved to know that the world she transmigated into has baths, electronics, money, and the most important of it all, magic.

Thinking about magic, she glanced at the four colored magic stones sitting on top of the table.

Red, blue, yellow, and green.

Sighing weakly to herself, Coco took off her wet clothes and hung it on the back of the chair, making sure it was sprawled out evenly so it could dry itself naturally overnight.

She also took off the clothes from the box that fit her body perfectly and closed the box again.

She wore those new clothes, not bothering to wash them since she didn’t have other clothes to wear, and left her room while carrying the large box.

On her way out of the inn, she stopped by the counter and gave the woman behind it five gold coins.

"For dinner for the nights I’ll be staying here." Coco told the woman, a small polite smile on her face before she walked away from her.

She has not checked the amount she has in her pocket, but things like food and clothes are necessities she needs to spend money on, especially if those are the things that keeps herself alive.

She made her way to the butcher shop, her footsteps light and steady.

"So, my hunch is right." The fairy whined and glared at the box on Coco’s arms, "These clothes are for you the previous Coco’s husbands even though they could have bought their clothes themselves."

"With what money?" Coco asked, her voice quiet and small, being careful to not speak too loud and alarm the people around her.

"With the money you gave them, duh!" The fairy sassed, shaking her head as if she was disappointed.

Coco could only shake her head at her as well.

When they reached the butcher shop, it was already closed with a few people walking away from it and each one of them had a bag on their hand while they looked like they were happy with their purchase.

"Business went well?" Coco asked as she walked inside the shop, her voice alerting Renaldo and Jacques.

"Coco!" Jacques brightened up when her eyes landed on her friend, "I see that you have taken my suggestion at heart, and yes, business went pretty well."

"That’s great news." Coco stated and dropped the box on the clean table on the corner, "I thought the monster wouldn’t sell this time because its meat doesn’t look appetizing, but I’m glad it did."

Renaldo turned to Coco with his eyebrow raised, "What makes you think that the monster meat doesn’t look appetizing?"

"Because the people looked terrified when I bought it back." Coco answered as she walked over to the butcher.

"That’s only because this is the second time someone has bought back a tough crocodile. They are quite a rare catch because they usually stay deep in rivers or lakes which makes it hard to spot one." Renaldo explained, looking back to his knives that he was cleaning.

"Does that mean I got lucky when it came out of the water?" Coco blinked.

"It went out of the water..?" Jacques frowned, a worried look crossing her features.

"Yes? I was in the middle of harvesting when it came out and attacked me. It caught me off guard." Coco said as she recalled what happened.

If it weren’t for the scroll informing her about the quest then she wouldn’t have known that a monster was already pursuing her, ready to tear her open and make her its meal for the day.

"Alone?"

"Yes?" Coco answered reluctantly.

".. it looks like you’re about to be hunted by the rest of them."
