Chapter 78: Dinner invitation
Chapter 78: Dinner invitation
"You’re so strong! Look at how easily you pull off those skin!"
"Wow.. It looks like you’re just ripping a paper off.. It’s actually amazing."
"I don’t know why you can peel these tough hides, but don’t beat those thugs after what they have done to your husbands!"
The garden fairy, the butcher, and his lovely wife have been saying the same statements for almost an hour ever since she went back to the butcher shop to help Renaldo with the tough crocodile.
The black haired woman gripped the hide of the armored crocodile tightly, her fingers clenching around the tough, scaly flesh.
With a swift, strong movement, she ripped the hide from the reptile’s body, the sound of tearing flesh echoing through the air inside of the butcher shop, the sound sending shivers down the spine of the married couple.
Despite the thickness and toughness of the monster’s hide, the woman’s nonchalant display of strength in front of them was terrifying, but fascinating, especially her muscles coiled with power as she ripped away the tough, scaly flesh.
A single strong pull was all it took as she tore off the large piece of the hide with ease— the thick, scaly material coming away with her hands.
"Jacques, my friend, to answer your question, it’s not like I won’t beat them up." Coco stated as she ceased her movement for a moment, "I came here to help Renaldo then I’ll go to the prison house once I’m done."
Jacques brightened up, "Then, why don’t you hurry with the peeling? You can’t stay here for too long or else!"
"I’ll be fine. I’ll make sure that they won’t do something shitty like that again." Coco said, her muscles rippling with effort as she tore through the tough hide, the once-armored skin coming apart like paper under her fingers.
"How reliable!" Lala squealed loudly as she let a giggle escape her lips, "When it comes to these things, people should leave it someone as reliable as Coco~"
Grunting, Coco ripped off the hide of the last bit of the tough crocodile and threw it over to the basin by her feet.
"Thank you." Renaldo expressed his gratitude almost immediately and nudged Coco with his elbow, "If I knew that you will be showing how strong you are tonight then I would have brought the fermented wine we have at home."
"Fermented wine?" Coco froze and turned to the butcher.
"Yes, and we have two gallons of it." Renaldo said, raising a thumb up and shooting his friend with a wolfish grin, making his face look even more terrifying than usual.
"Gallons..?" Coco mumbled, tilting her head.
"Mhmm, you can come over tomorrow once we’re done selling whatever monster meat you bring if you want?" Jacques offered, a small smile creeping to her lips as she turned away from them.
The store hasn’t opened yet, but she needs to start laying the butchered meat that her husband had given her.
With Coco helping them prepare the meat to sell, their speculated time to finish selling all of the meat from the tough crocodile changed.
"Oooh! Accept her offer, Coco!" The garden fairy said, flying over to her human friend and patting Coco in the cheek.
"Well, if you don’t mind having me then I’ll be honored to have a taste of that fermented wine." Coco smiled softly as she pushed the perfectly neat skinned crocodile forward, "I know I said that I won’t drink the alcohol at the pub anymore, but a little treat after a rough day should be fine, right?"
"That’s right." Jacques hummed out, agreeing with Coco’s statement, "I’ll serve you the best dish you will ever taste in this village so be prepared to be blown away!"
Coco chuckled and shook her head, "I’ll do my best to be ready then."
"A dinner at a friend’s house!" Lala laughed and settled on Coco’s head, giggling quietly to herself with a large grin on her face.
"I’m done." Coco announced and pulled away from the counter then turned to the butcher who was waiting patiently for her to be finished, "Do you need help with cutting the meat, my friend?"
Renaldo shook his head. "Not really, I can handle the rest."
"You should go and buy yourself something to wear before going to the prison house." Jacques chimed in, her eyes focused at the table she was scrubbing diligently, "There’s a clothing shop before Old Jin’s store, the clothes there are good quality with cheap prices."
At the mention of a clothing store, Coco looked down on her body.
She had completely forgotten that she was dressed in a dirty, cheap silk that was wrapped around her torso, the delicate yet thick fabric clinging to her curves in all the right places, making her curves stand out now that she’s not wearing any blouse.
The silk was a deep, dark color of green that accentuated her skin tone, the silk shimmering in the light by the doorframe.
She wore matching loose pants, the material flowing down her legs in a comfortable motion with the piece of clothing not restricting her movements.
She looked down at herself, her eyes traveling over her body, taking in every detail.
"Does my body look bad?" Coco asked no one in particular, the question rolling off her tongue before she could think or register what she was asking.
The question made Jacques pause what she was going and turn to her with a raise of an eyebrow.
"You look quite good." Jacques stated in a matter of fact tone, "Instead of asking pointless questions, I suggest buying yourself something to wear that covers your body because I’m sure your husband wouldn’t like to see their wife flaunting her figure to everyone."
"Flaunting?" Coco’s eyebrows furrowed, "I’m not? I gave clothes to Heiren and Alhai."
Jacques shook her head as a tired sigh left her lips, "That’s not the reaction I was looking for, but whatever. Just go and buy something to wear!"
