New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 77: Tie and money

Chapter 77: Tie and money

The villagers whispered among themselves, their eyes glued at the scene before them.

Coco had brought ten men by the gates and asked the guards to tie them up before leaving again, only to come back carrying a basket that was almost as tall as her.

She placed the basket at the bottom of the watchtower before she helped the guards on tying the group of men, the look of confusion and surprise were clear in their faces, but Coco didn’t pay them any mind.

"I’ll come back for these men." Coco told the guards as she threw an orange their way, "Keep them here and keep an eye on them. I’ll make the appointment as quickly as possible so I can get them."

The guards flinched and scrambled to catch the orange.

The rumor of Coco Hughes selling a great quality fruit that makes nobles crazy had spread far and wide in the village.

The rumor of Coco Hughes giving away free fruit if she was in a good mood or if you managed to get to her good side and befriended her had also spread.

However, no one was courageous enough to actually befriend the trash of the village.

"Go to the prison house once you’re done with your appointment, Mrs. Hughes!" One of the guards screamed as Coco made her way through the street, "We’ll put these criminals behind the bars for you!"

Coco didn’t respond and continued to make her way towards Magia Pierre.

She had dropped off Alhai and Heiren at the house then grabbed the list of Old Jin’s herbs from the third husband before she left them.

She didn’t even have the time to explain what happened to the first husband, only accepting the robe he gave her and letting it drape over her shoulders before she left that place in a hurry.

She didn’t want to go back out of the village and find the men gone.

Thankfully though, they were still knocked out cold on the ground and Coco was more than happy to carry four men over shoulders while she had the two remaining men by the scruff of their shirt.

She’s very grateful for adding the passive skill she got from the mission earlier on the [Strength] skill because if she didn’t, she probably wouldn’t be able to carry six men.

Now, she’s on her way to Magia Pierre.

When she arrived at the magic stone shop, she gently swung the door open and slipped inside, being careful to not tilt the basket.

The basket has wooden sternum straps, shoulder straps and leather hip belts that secures it in place when she was carrying it behind her like a backpack.

She couldn’t carry the basket earlier when she was walking down the mountain because of the tough crocodile.

The monster was bigger than her for a couple inches so it was hanging on her shoulders and occupying most of the spot all by itself, leaving her no choice, but to ask Lala for assistance.

Recalling her journey down the mountain made her sigh tiredly for the nth time that day.

"Mrs. Hughes!" Mrs. Tani greeted her the moment she went out of the room at the back, "Thank goodness you’re fine! I heard what happened from my people! Are you okay?"

Coco placed the basket down and huffed, "I am, but the second and third husband’s are not."

Mrs. Tani frowned, "I see.. I’ll send my people to the prison house later and have that disgusting group of criminals get what they deserve."

"I appreciate it." Coco said, a small smile creeping to her lips, "Pushing that aside, here’s the first batch of harvest today and this is the fruit that a client of yours ordered from me. I made sure to place the juicier ones on the bag."

The merchant gasped audibly as she accepted the bag from Coco, "You didn’t have to.."

"It’s fine." Coco assured her with a dismissive wave of her hand, "I don’t want to sound rude or something, but when will you give my payment—"

"Here." Mrs. Tani cut Coco off with a smile of her own and placed a small bag of money on Coco’s arms, "I know that you’re planning to buy something for your husbands. I have taken a gold coin from the payment for your dinner tonight, I hope you don’t mind."

"I don’t." Coco said, fighting off the grin that wants to get to her lips, "It was nice doing business with you."

She didn’t waste any time to turn in her heels and walked briskly towards the door, eager to know how much money she made from the first batch.

"I’ll have a smaller basket prepared for you tomorrow, Mrs. Hughes!" Mrs. Tani called out from behind, barely heard by Coco, but the garden fairy heard it loud and clear which made Lala squealed.

"I’ll grow more fruits to give you money!" Lala laughed wholeheartedly as she tightened her grip on Coco’s hair, the gloomy atmosphere temporarily vanishing.

However, Coco didn’t hear that because she was focused on the task at hand— to buy clothes for the husbands.

She can’t have the same thing happen to any of the four husbands so she wants to buy extra clothing for them— thick and hard to rip off from their body.

Prevention is better than cure is what the elders say, right?

She doesn’t want the husbands to cover their body if they wish not to, but she will still buy them good clothes so they could wear it whenever they go out.

Although, for now, since she can’t see any good clothing shops, she made her way to the butcher shop.

"Might as well help Renaldo and Jacques out before paying a visit down in the prison house." Coco mumbled.

She deposited the money as fast as she could and didn’t bother checking the amount she earned from Mrs. Tani today.
