Chapter 67: Baking ingredients

Coco stared at the basket in front of her.

The young man had come back out with the large basket, struggling to lift it all by himself so she took it upon herself to help him as he got out of the store.

Now, she’s staring at the basket filled to the brim in her right hand with the four trays of eggs on her other hand.

"I have placed sugar, flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, yeast— the eggs, as you can see, are four trays just as you have asked." The young man stated, gesturing towards the basket and the eggs.

"How many kilos are the dry ingredients?" Coco asked, putting down the basket and the egg trays on the ground carefully.

"The bag of flour, salt, and sugar is twenty five kilos." The young man informed her with a tilt of his head, "The baking powder, soda, and cocoa powder is only ten kilos with the yeast being a kilo."

"I see.. And how much would all of that be?" Coco inquired, slipping her hands inside of her pocket and slowly opening the pouch of money so she wouldn’t have to bring out and let people see how many coins she has.

"Each bag is five hundred silver coins, the baking soda, powder, cocoa powder and the yeast is four hundred silver coins in total.. Each tray of the eggs is two hundred silver coins.. That would be two gold coins and two hundred silver coins." The young man said with a smile.

"Thank you." Coco hummed out, brought out three gold coins from her pocket and handed it to the young man, "Here, add one more bag of flour and a tray of egg with sugar."

The young man’s eyes went wide as saucers when he received the gold coins from Coco.

Isn’t she the infamous Coco Hughes? He thought, accepting the gold coins with dumbfounded expression on his face as he look at Coco and the gold coins.

If she’s the infamous disowned daughter of Baron Hughes then she wouldn’t have that much money in her pocket. Just how did she get her hands on gold coins if she doesn’t have a noble title anymore?

"U-Understood..!" He said, stammering out the word as he scrambled to get back inside the store.

When he had come out again, Coco immediately left his store and went to the butcher shop where she Renaldo and Jacques told her to go to meet up so she can give them the things she bought to get it delivered to the husbands.

Before Coco left the butcher shop last night, Jacques had told her that she need to go back as early as she can because Jacques would have finished shopping for breakfast.

Renaldo also stated that he would deliver whatever she bought to the house, assuring her that he doesn’t need anything as a payment.

So, she had no choice, but to go to the butcher shop while carrying a large basket filled with baking ingredients and five trays of eggs which made the passerby turn their heads to look at the things she was carrying.

"Coco!" The butcher called out to her from the distance, making her perk up and squint her eyes to see him.

The sun was already peeking in the horizon and has painted the sky with beautiful hue of blue, purple, pink, and orange

— like a canvas that was painted by a skillful painter, making the scenery pleasant for the eyes.

Coco hummed, feeling slightly better than yesterday, all in the courtesy of the garden fairy, the butcher, and his lovely wife.

"That’s a lot." Jacques commented when Coco finally reached them, "You brought all that for your husbands? What are they going to cook?"

"Ah, no." Coco answered the pink haired woman’s question as she handed the large basket to the large scarred man, "This is all for the first husband, his hobby is baking and he hasn’t baked for years because of me so I’m making it up for all those years by buying all these."

Coco said those words without any ill intention and the married couple knows that, but not calling your spouses with their names is considered as too formal for married couples.

It usually happens between two people who were arranged to marry each other, but it also happens to those couple who think less of their spouse.

Considering Coco’s background, the couple knows that the marriage between her and her husbands are just arranged or happened out of nowhere.

It also means that the intimacy between them are nonexistent.

However, why would she go as far as buying things for the first husband so he can continue his hobby?

Is she gaining feelings towards him?

Renaldo and Jacques shared a glance, feeling concerned for their friend’s poor heart that changed for good for the sake of everyone around her.

"Do you want me to say anything to them?" The butcher asked, slipping the basket on his shoulder and grabbing the egg trays from Coco’s hand, "You have to go out to the forest after this, right?"

"I have nothing to say to them." Cock answered and let out a deep sigh through her nose, "And yes, I’ll be back as soon as I can today."

"Understood." Renaldo smiled softly towards his friend and turned around, "Be careful out there, my friend."

"Thank you." Coco nodded her head at him, watching him return the gesture before the two of them started walking away from her.

Time to go back to the inn and pick up Lala. Coco thought to herself and made her way back to the Red Horse Inn.

"Ah, Coco." Joachim brightened up significantly when he saw Coco walk through the door, a polite and kind smile creeping to his lips, "My wife had just arrive at Magia Pierre, she told me to let you know."

"Okay, thank you." Coco stated as she walked past him, eager to pick up the fairy.
