New World with Four Husbands
Chapter 36: My friends

Chapter 36: My friends

"Cut off this part of the pig’s ham and take one fourth of it home, I’ll take the third fourth." Coco instructed, pointing her index finger from the flying pig’s sirloin vertically to the pig’s hock.

"One fourth?" Renaldo asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion and astonishment, "That’s a lot compared to the part of the tiger you let me bring home yesterday. Would that be okay?"

Coco blinked owlishly towards him and was silent for a moment which scared Renaldo, thinking that he had finally crossed the line.

"Duh!" Lala sassed the scarred man as she held her chin up, "Coco is kind and benevolent so you should be thankful that she’s being this considerate of you and your wife!"

Of course, Renaldo is unaware of the garden fairy being sassy towards him.

Coco could only shake her head and click her tongue several times in a row, "Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk.. Renaldo, Renaldo, Renaldo.. The point of being my business partner is to get whatever part I let you take no matter what."

Renaldo’s eyebrows furrowed further, not getting Coco’s point, "That would make you lose a hundred of silver coins.."

"No! Coco could sell the fruits she and I grow! This meat isn’t the end of good opportunities to make money!" The garden fairy exclaimed, stomping on the man’s head, offended that he had the audacity to doubt Coco.

"We won’t." Coco said, agreeing with her fairy friend as a smug and confident smirk creeped into her lips, crossing her arms.

"People will line up in front of the store— which is already happening as we speak— and they wouldn’t ask for certain parts if we don’t display it to them." Coco stated, the smirk in her face getting broader with each word.

"People will look for the ham though." The pink haired woman said, interjecting Coco’s plan and unintentionally shooting Coco’s idea down the drain.

"Yes, you’re right." Coco agreed with the wife’s statement and nodded her head, "But if we say that it’s not on sale and told them that it will be on sale next time. They will come back and will offer more money for it."

Hehe! It’s like a limited edition for anything back in my world, but it’s the pig version! People grow crazy forit. Coco laughed wickedly in her mind, she could already hear the sound of gold coins clinking in her pocket.

The married couple’s eyes went wide when they heard Coco’s words and their jaws dropped out of awestruck.

"We can get another part the next time I bring a flying pig and put the ham on the display." Coco smirked at them, "That way, they’ll know that it’s limited and will think of ways to get ahead of everyone else’s."

"You’re a genius!" Renaldo gasped out, his deep and masculine voice dripping with amazement as he pointed his knife at her, unintentionally, because of his excitement.

"Coco!" Lala cried out, her face pale at the sight of the sharp blade almost getting Coco.

"Hey! Careful with the knife, buddy!" Coco exclaimed, dodging the blade and avoiding her arm from getting sliced by the sharpened knife.

Almost immediately, Renaldo retracted the knife and an apologetic look crossed his face, "Sorry. I got a little excited."

"Sorry won’t cut it!" Lala exclaimed, her ears releasing fumes as she kicked Renaldo on the nose and glared at him menacingly, "What would you do if she got hurt?! You should’ve put your knife down!"

The sight was ridiculous for Coco, making her choke on her saliva and stop herself from bursting into a fit of laughter.

She looked away and forced out a cough.

Coco nodded her head as well and waved her hand dismissively, "No sweat over it. Anyway, get to butchering while me and your wife start cleaning the shop’s countertops!"

"Eh?" The pink haired woman blinked, taken aback by the sudden drop of the bomb.

"Leave it to me." Renaldo said, shooting Coco a reassuring grin, showing her his full set of white teeth with a slight twinkling by the upper teeth.

Coco had to rub her eyes to make sure if she really did see Renaldo’s teeth twinkling, but when she looked back the second time, Renaldo wasn’t smiling anymore and was now facing the butchering table.

Weird.. Coco thought and slowly made her way to the wife’s spot where she was starting to clean the countertops.

Coco grabbed a clean rag from the water basin and started rubbing the surface with great intensity, doing her best to sanitize the place with the best of her ability.

Cleaning the shop and butchering the flying pig was relatively quick— the three of them worked with strange ease that made Coco question their compatibility as business partners.

She was pleased with Renaldo’s wife’s sanitization to the point she considered hiring her and unconsciously called out to her.

"Renaldo’s wife." Coco called, making the pink haired woman raise her head and blink at her.

"Yes?" She asked before she straightened her posture and smiled, "Please call me Jacques or Jac, a good acquaintance of my husband is a good acquaintance of mine as well."

Though, instead of telling Jacques why she called out to her, she huffed and stopped drying the surface before her.

"Acquaintance?" Coco raised and eyebrow and placed her hands on her hips as she turn to the busy butcher, "Well, fuck, you’re such a heartless fellow, Renaldo."

"She’s a friend, dear." Renaldo softly corrected his wife as he shuffled in the butchering area.

"Oh—" Jacques blinked and giggled nervously as she quickly corrected herself, "I see.. A friend of my husband is my friend as well."

"That’s awesome!" Coco’s mood took a drastic turn, startling Jacques and made her clutch the cleaning rag to her chest as Coco clapped her hands.

Coco beamed at her, "I have two friends now! You can’t take it back! You hear me, Renaldo?!"

"I hear you loud and clear."
