Chapter 141: FAT PRINCESS
Chapter 141: FAT PRINCESS
Aristia and Adeline returned home to the mansion. The sun had just set.
By the time Aristia arrived home, she discovered that her mother had left for a tea party at the Kiran Mansion and Wilson and Alaric were not in the mansion. She was the only member of the family at home.
[Mama is bound to hear about what happened.]
But it was necessary for her to do what she did otherwise the nobles would begin to think they were allowed to do whatever they wanted because of their status.
They would think the commoners were obligated to endure whatever treatment they were subjected to by them. That was already what was happening. That was why she decided to nip it at the bud.
Aristia finally reached her room and entered. She stopped in front of the bed and turned to Adeline, "Do you think what I did was wrong, Linny?" She didn’t really need her opinion. She just wanted to know what Adeline thought.
"Not at all, " Adeline replied and shook her head. She agreed with what the princess did. "I think Princess did the right thing."
Even though she didn’t care about what the nobles or Aristocrats did, she supported Aristia.
Aristia nodded her head in satisfaction and said surely, "Of course I did not make the wrong decision." She peeked up at Adeline. "But, aren’t you just worried that... the nobles will taint my reputation?" She sat on the bed and asked curiously.
Adeline shook her head. "I’m not worried."
"Why?" Aristia asked curiously. She thought Adeline cared a lot about her.
"The commoners won’t say the same thing. Even if the nobles say so, it really isn’t much different from how you acted before." Adeline said.
It was the same thing Aristia had thought, however when she heard it from Adeline, who was supposed to be her number one admirer and supporter, she was left speechless.
However, Adeline continued.
"But that was before. Princess has changed. You’re kind now and you care a lot about the people who are close to you. So it doesn’t matter if those who aren’t close to you don’t know this. It’s their fault."
Aristia was speechless. "...Thank you for saying that, Linny." She cleared her throat. "That the people who I care for and are close to me know that I’m different from before. I’ve outgrown my childishness." She said.
Yes, that was what she called it— just childishness that she had outgrown.
[Let them view it as that. I have no explanation for the change they think the original Aristia has gone through.]
"Please leave me, Linny. I want to rest." Aristia lay down on her bed and closed her eyes with her hand on her forehead.
"As you wish, princess Tia." Adeline bowed and left.
"Hehe," a chuckle escaped Aristia’s lips. "That was... fun." She was talking about what happened earlier in the restaurant. She rested in bed for the remainder of the evening.
About an hour later, Catherine returned to the mansion and so did Wilson and Alaric.
During dinner, Catherine suddenly began speaking.
"I heard there was a noblewoman who was making things difficult for a server at The Vanilla Courtyard."
Wilson looked at Aristia when he heard that. She was the owner of the restaurant and should already be aware since Catherine knew.
Catherine continued, "Word is, another noblewoman did something similar sometime ago, while we were still in the Hemsworth Fief."
Wilson raised his brows, curious to know how they dealt with the situation. They both knew that nobility commonly liked to make things hard for those lower than them intentionally. Most times, it was a sort of entertainment for them.
"Tia happened to be there and stepped in." Catherine finished her words. "Some of the ladies were talking about it in the tea party." She narrowed her eyes when she recalled the tea party’s events. She obviously didn’t like something the noble ladies said.
Her expression showed a satisfaction like she had put the person in their place.
Aristia shook her head; her mother could be scary sometimes. She was a fitting Grand Duchess that shouldn’t be overlooked or taken for granted. She was just sweet around her family, but that shouldn’t deceive anyone. The same was so for her father.
Aristia focused on the topic at hand. "Do mama and papa think I made a bad decision?" Aristia asked.
The both of them shook their heads and replied without even thinking twice,
"You did a good thing, Tia."
"You didn’t make a bad decision."
Wilson and Catherine supported her actions.
[This is why Aristia has a bad character. They don’t even question her.] She was sure they would say whatever she did was right when it came to other people.
"Don’t worry Mama and Papa. I handled it properly. The Nobles will not act so willfully in The Vanilla Courtyard."
"Of course you handled it properly. Our Tia is so smart." Catherine said.
"I am." Aristia nodded.
Wilson and Alaric nodded in agreement.
Aristia paused. [Wait... How did we all become my fans?]
After dinner, Aristia returned to her room.
"Princess Tia, your classes start tomorrow." Adeline informed.
[Oh, that’s true. I didn’t have classes for the whole month we stayed in the Hemsworth fief. That will affect my classes because it will make them longer but I can keep up.]
She could easily catch up with the syllabus.
A knock sounded on the door and not long after, it opened. Alaric entered the room and smiled sweetly at Aristia.
[Oh, my poor heart.]
She sat up on the bed, "Is something wrong, Al?"
Alaric shook his head, "Can I stay with you tonight, Tia ?"
Aristia smiled back at him, "Of course, Al. Come lie down." She patted the space beside her.
Alaric closed the door and went towards the bed, then he climbed on the bed and laid down.
"Goodnight, princess." Adeline said. "... Goodnight, prince." She added after some thought.
Aristia rolled her eyes, "Goodnight, Linny."
Adeline bowed and left the room, quietly closing the door behind her.
Alaric turned to Aristia happily, "Tia, I’ll tell you a story."
"Hm?" Aristia was amused. She lay on her side so that she would see his face clearly. "You will read me a story?"
"Yes," Alaric nodded in agreement.
"Oh my, Al wants to tell me a story? To what do I owe this honor?" Aristia asked dramatically.
Alaric giggled and held her arm. "Hehe, stop it Tia."
"Alright, alright, I’m listening. You can start the story now." She good naturedly stopped teasing him.
Alaric took his decision of telling her a story very seriously. Even his expression as he told the story was serious, but it was funny in Aristia’s eyes.
In the end, she couldn’t keep her eyes open and soon fell asleep, pulling Alaric close to her like he was a teddy bear.
Aristia woke up earlier than usual. She got dressed in her training clothes and left for the training grounds.
She and Owen sat on the bench and waited for the captain to arrive. When Owen first arrived at the mansion, he had been introduced as a Catherine’s distant relative that they had taken in.
At least that was what was told to Captain Hugh. She had no idea if the Grand Duke and Duchess bothered to explain to the servants.
When it was finally time for her training, Captain Hugh Lancelot arrived.
Aristia knew the captain secretly was fond of her and that he had developed a soft spot for her.
She looked up at him smugly, expecting to hear how much he had missed her or their training this one month she was away, only to hear...
"Why, you’ve gotten fatter princess. After just one month of not training."
Aristia was both shocked and offended, "I have not gotten fatter, captain!" She paused, "This is just... food that my body stored to help me grow."
"Whatever you wish to call it, princess." Hugh Lancelot laughed.
The training began immediately.
"You’re quite strong for a fat princess." Captain Hugh praised in the middle of the training.
"I’m not fat!" Aristia growled angrily.
The next second, she paused. She didn’t understand why the captain was staring at her with a shocked face. Was it because she yelled?
Captain Hugh looked like he saw a ghost. The firm, calloused hands of the strong and usually unfazed captain even shook a little. His eyes looked a little lost.
"Captain? Are you alright?" She was worried. What was going on?
Worried footsteps rang out across the field as people approached them. "What’s wrong, Hugh?" Wilson hurriedly asked, looking between the both of them.
Hugh had contacted him through their daemon’s mental link, telling him to hurry up and make his way to the training ground on behalf of something.
He and Catherine had become worried. With how jittery Hugh sounded, they wondered what was wrong. What else would it be apart from Aristia?
They quickly made their way to the training ground.
However, Wilson hadn’t seen anything wrong when he arrived and Aristia seemed fine, just standing in front of Hugh.
The next moment, his eyes stopped on Aristia as if he had sensed something and he stilled.
"S-she has aura!"
