My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World
Chapter 347: North and South

Chapter 347: North and South

While Nessa was telling me a story that had happened almost a hundred years ago, she told us more about Drakzen and Baelzor.

We knew some of Drakzen’s arsenal, but we were wholly ignorant about Balezor and his powers.

All we knew about him was that he could control people like puppets, but there was obviously more to it than that.

The spell that made Nessa lose control whenever she was in her true form was cast by Baelzor, but Drakzen helped as he could boost the demonic energy of others.

"I’m sorry you had to go through that, Nessa..." Melina said, patting her on the head.

After consoling our devil friend for some time, we were called to the feast, where a long table filled with all kinds of dishes waited for us.

During the banquet, I was sitting down next to the king, so I started telling him about the supposed war that could possibly come.

When we visited the Mages’ Tower, Sage Astra showed me a vision of the future where all of the countries in the world took part in a massive war.

We were trying to avoid that future at all costs, but Astra told us that while changing the future was possible, it was better to prepare for it.

Since then, all the other sages had been traveling to the other nations and explaining the situation to the rulers, making them gather their forces and resources to prepare for a war that might or might not happen.

The king was a bit skeptical at first, which I thought was a normal reaction as it sounded quite ridiculous.

Still, once Arashi said that the visions of the future almost always came to pass, the king took the warning more seriously.

At one point, I received a voice message from Sage Devon, who had traveled to Vista with Sage Louie to warn the rulers there about the war.

However, the primary thing I wanted him to do was to place a magic quartz there so that we could go there quickly and look for the last relic.

Vista and Lotus were pretty much on opposite ends of the world, so if we traveled there by normal means, it could easily take us a few weeks.

Luckily, Devon’s call was to let us know that he had placed the magic quartz inside the king’s castle at Vista.

Apparently, Luca and Florencia were happy to see their old headmaster there, so he had no trouble asking them to put the magic quartz inside.

We were thinking of going there the next day, but a few minutes after Devon’s voice message, I received another one from half of the Dawn’s Defenders group who were at the Northern Empire.

When the Dawn’s Defenders started working for me after taking down the human trafficking network in Droman, I sent one half to Guanghua and the other half to the Northern Empire.

Those were the two nations that were buying slaves from Droman at that time, so it was the only sensible option to send them to.

Nisa and Tony led one group in Guanghua, and they ended up building the Yuandu settlement with the help of the villagers they saved when they infiltrated.

Honestly, if it wasn’t for them, our job at Guanghua would have been a hundred times more difficult.

Rio and Lampart were sent to the Northern Empire, and all I knew from them was that they had been working on a secret settlement.

They sent me messages from time to time, but they were all mostly just to let me know that they were still alive.

However, the message I received at that moment was different from the rest, as they sounded quite distressed when speaking.

Rio was the one talking, and he explained that the group had been going to small settlements all over the Northern Empire and evacuating them, taking them to the secret area where people were taking refuge.

Nevertheless, their hideout was found by the imperial army, who they described as mindless killing machines.

The Dawn’s Defenders needed backup, and they needed it quickly, which was a big problem as we didn’t have any way to teleport there.

Bjorn and Magnus, the two northern warriors that we saved in Guanghua, were supposed to get there and place a magic quartz I gave them, but I hadn’t received an update from them.

I sent a voice message to the two warriors, and surprisingly, they replied a few minutes later, saying that they were half a day away from reaching the shores of the north.

’Hmmm, that’s the closest we could get right now...’ I thought.

Melina heard the messages with me, sharing some of my stress, as we weren’t sure how to proceed.

Vista and the Northern Empire were on opposite sides of the map, which wasn’t really a problem with our magic quartz, but we couldn’t help but feel worried about the people we sent there.

Now that we had killed most of the evil devils, there was a high chance that Baelzor would start taking harsher measures with the people of the north.

As much as it hurt for me to say it, I had to. "I think we might have to split up for this..."

In good conscience, I couldn’t ignore the pleas for help from my friends in the north while I traveled to a nation all the way in the south. Still, I also didn’t want to split up from Melina, as I enjoyed being by her side.

"Ichiro, that’s the best solution..." she commented.

"I go north, you go south?" I asked, feeling a bit down that I would have to separate from my wife for a few days.

"Sounds like a plan. I’ll get the relic and go north as soon as I can," Melina replied with a soft and gentle smile.

After devising our plans, we sent a message to Devon and the warriors, telling them that we would be teleporting to their location the next day.

That night, when Melina and I went to our room, we lay on the bed for a few seconds before noticing that none of our companions had followed us in.

Then, the realization that we wouldn’t sleep together for a few days dawned on us, making us turn around and lock eyes with each other before kissing passionately.

We were getting a bit frisky, but before we went too far, I separated my face from Melina’s for a brief moment.

"One second...Yoru, out," I said, making my companion materialize from my shadow and leave the room, snickering to himself.

Since our companions were able to "feel" the same emotions we did, they could tell whenever we wanted some time alone for ourselves, which was why Vespera kept asking them to give us some space.

We made love that night, knowing that we would see each other again, but we couldn’t have expected that our reunion in the future wouldn’t go as romantic as we planned.
