My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World -
Chapter 334: Pink Goblins
Chapter 334: Pink Goblins
Once I was done fighting Minato and embarrassing him in front of everyone in the castle, the king thanked me for teaching him a lesson.
Honestly, I felt like these were things that his own parents should have taught him, but I supposed that it must have been Minato’s mother who made him turn out that way.
With no other distractions left, we told the king to safeguard the magic quartz we would be leaving inside his castle and teleported to Kiyokawa.
It was a fairly small town, but it was still larger than End Town. It was located at the top of a hill that overlooked a flower field that had a good number of Pink Life trees.
In the distance, we could see the mountains where the dragon supposedly lived, which the residents called "Rose Peak," as they looked sort of pinkish from afar.
We walked around town for a bit and had lunch to prepare ourselves for hours of flying, but at one point, we saw an Adventurers’ Guild and decided to check it out.
Melina and I were platinum adventurers, so we were allowed to work at any guild in the world.
Surprisingly, the guild at Kiyokawa had a disclaimer at the front saying that only "gold" adventurers or higher were allowed to take jobs from there.
We asked the clerk the reason for that, and she told us that the area from Kiyokawa to Rose Peak was extremely dangerous, so they asked the adventurers to have a certain level of strength.
In other words, it was to protect the adventurers from going to their deaths.
One of the jobs posted on the board said that a small village of goblins had formed in a cave not too far from Kiyokawa, but they were called "pink goblins," which were supposed to be smarter than the normal ones.
The clerk elaborated more on them and told us that the pink goblins were smart enough to speak, use weapons and magic, lay traps, and plan ahead.
"So, it’s like fighting people..." Melina muttered.
"Pretty much. They have been growing in population and have been getting closer to town. One of our representatives went to the capital to ask for soldiers..." said the clerk.
The goblin village seemed to be on the path to Rose Peak, so we took the job to help them out, but also because I hated goblins with all my heart.
It was marked as an "Adamantite +" job, so any adventurer lower than that rank wasn’t allowed to take on the quest.
Even if they were intelligent goblins, they were still just goblins, so I didn’t know if having such a high rank to fight them was really necessary. It’s not like it mattered to us anyway.
After accepting the job, we took flight and left Kiyokawa while we still had some sunlight, which only lasted for a few hours before we descended and built a quick shack to sleep on.
We built the shack in the middle of a field that was covered in flowers and small hills. At night, there was a pink mist that flowed in the air, which made me worry at first since I thought it could be toxic. Still, it was just a natural reaction from the Pink Life leaves.
Vespera, who was acting as the lookout, woke us up in the middle of the night while holding a pink goblin by the neck, struggling to get her grip off him.
"What the...!?" I exclaimed when I saw the monster.
"I found this guy trying to spy on us, but seeing that he can talk, I thought it would be best to question him..." said Vespera, still choking the goblin.
We got out of the shack and dropped the goblin in front of our group, but the first he tried to do was attack me, so I kicked him in the face and broke his nose.
He was ugly and shriveled, with light pink skin that made him look even worse. His eyes glowed red, and there was a strange foam coming out of his mouth.
"Can you speak?" I asked, pointing my bo at the goblin on the ground.
"Shut the hell up, human. You are all trash! We will capture you and take you to our shaman!" he exclaimed.
’Well, they can speak, but they don’t seem that smart to me...’ I thought.
"Who is this shaman?" I asked.
The goblin snickered and started scratching his face quite violently, saying that the shaman was the goblin’s salvation.
For whatever reason, it seemed like the goblin never received an order not to speak about his brethren because he pretty much answered all of our questions.
He wasn’t trying to be compliant, as all of his answers sounded like threats, but we just looked past them and came to the conclusion that there were at least two hundred goblins in the village.
Their cave was pretty close to our shack, which was the reason that the goblin was able to find us.
Luckily for us, the goblin thought he could spy on us on his own and didn’t call for reinforcements, so the fact that we were there was still a secret to the rest of the pink goblins.
From what the monster said, it sounded like the "shaman" was another goblin who could cast powerful magic, so the others saw him as their leader.
"Huh, I thought they could all cast spells..." I said aloud, and just as I finished the sentence, I saw the goblin pointing his palm at us.
"Stupid humans!" he yelled.
In the blink of an eye, I removed the oxygen around me and my group, making his fire strike unable to reach us, creating only a wake of dirt.
When the dust from his attack settled, Vespera had already executed the goblin by slicing his head with her spider legs.
*sigh* "I guess we won’t get a good rest tonight..." I said.
Technically, we could have all gone back to bed right after that whole ordeal, but none of us was able to go back to sleep, and there were only a few hours before sunrise, so we decided to keep moving towards the goblin village.
