My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World -
Chapter 335: The Lady of the Pink
Chapter 335: The Lady of the Pink
It was early in the morning, and the sun hadn’t even come out yet when my group and I were moving towards the pink goblins’ village.
At one point, our "search" spell was showing us a bunch of presences inside a cave, which was curious since the area didn’t look like it could hold that many goblins inside.
There were a couple of pink goblins right outside the entrance who were moving boxes inside the cave, and they looked a bit bloody, so I had a pretty bad feeling about what was inside the crates.
We allowed Nessa to use her demonic energy when she was with us, which also allowed her to activate the enchantments that Vespera placed on her clothing, enabling her to fly with us.
I thought that Nessa would want to go with Jackson and Karla to the north after meeting with him, but she decided to keep adventuring with us for the time being, and we had no problems with that.
While scouting the goblins’ movements, I thought of a risky idea involving Nessa and asked her to descend and meet with the goblins before the rest of our group.
Everyone on my team was confused, so I elaborated and told them to remember how the goblins from End Forest worshipped the devils.
"If Nessa talks to the goblins, she may be able to find out more about them before we eradicate the entire village..." I explained.
She understood her assignment and slowly descended from the air, getting into the goblins’ vision, who were alerted by her presence at first before noticing her powerful demonic aura.
"It’s the Lady of the Pink!" a goblin yelled, running a few feet inside the cave and ringing a bell.
’The Lady of the Pink?’ I pondered.
I didn’t know if the goblins were confusing Nessa with someone else or if her pink-colored hair was giving the goblins some sort of relatable feeling toward her.
Nonetheless, the plan was working, as the goblins were coming out of the cave just to see her.
The rest of our group descended atop some pink trees that surrounded the area while keeping our MP hidden. Knowing that these goblins could cast magic would make it possible for them to sense us, so we had to keep our energy at the minimum.
"Lady of the Pink. What brings you here?" said another goblin while they kneeled before her.
"I’m, uhhh, just checking how you were doing..." said Nessa, giving a terrible performance that made me understand she wasn’t used to lying.
Still, the goblins were smart enough to speak, but they weren’t cunning enough to notice the little details when someone was lying to them.
"How lucky, how lucky for us!" said the goblins as they kept kneeling and bowing in front of her.
"Come, come, we take you to shaman!" a goblin continued, waving his hand and beckoning Nessa to enter the cave.
Right at that moment, I gave the rest of my team an invisibility potion and told them to drink it all so that we could follow them inside.
We only had 30 minutes of invisibility, but I thought that was more than enough for us to infiltrate their village.
After turning invisible, we moved to Nessa’s side, and I used sound magic to whisper in her ear without anyone else being able to listen.
"We are here. Keep up the act..." I muttered, making her a little nervous as she was aware she was a terrible actress.
As a small group of goblins guided Nessa through the narrow and dark cave, we followed them closely behind, noticing that the path was filled with traps and trinkets.
Some of the traps were simple stuff, like a fake floor that would make people fall into a pit with spikes. However, there were some magical traps that had intricate enchantments on them.
One of the traps was made so that it would shoot a flame wave through the entire entrance hallway, leaving no room for escaping other than the main cave entrance.
Still, we were lucky that we were invisible and following them as the goblins were walking around the traps or alerting their brethren that they were coming to deactivate them.
At one point, the narrow cave path opened up, and we found ourselves inside a massive cave that seemed to be some sort of mine before the goblins took over.
There were wooden shacks and platforms leading to different levels of the cave, and there were goblins mining on one side of the cave while others were brewing potions in a cauldron.
One thing we noticed was the excessive amount of crates and barrels that were filled with pink leaves from the Pink Life trees.
’What do they need that for?’ I pondered, remembering that the pink leaves were supposed to be toxic in the dark.
While I delved into my thoughts, it started to get hard to breathe inside the cave, and when I turned to look at the rest of my invisible team members, they were struggling as much as me.
’Must be the pink leaves’ toxic fumes...’ I thought.
However, none of the goblins seemed to be affected by it, and even Nessa looked perfectly fine.
’Could it be that it doesn’t have an effect on someone with demonic energy?’ I wondered.
Nessa and the goblins were going further deep into the mines, but we had to stop moving as it only got harder to breathe the more we walked.
"Nessa, those pink leaves are preventing us from following you. Be careful..." I said, using sound magic to whisper in her ear.
I saw my devil friend shooting a glance at the pink leaves, so she was probably thinking of destroying all of their supply.
Still, even if she did that, the fumes were already in the air, so I had to come up with a way to cancel the gas effects in our bodies.
’Maybe I can make some sort of gas mask...’ I thought, placing my hands on the rocky wall and producing a thin but sturdy half-mask.
It was just a piece of rock at the moment, but with a little more magic, I could turn it into something useful.
