Chapter 324: Drakzen’s Interruption

After healing the two demonoids who were half-death in the settlement, I made my way to the area where Vespera and Drakzen were fighting.

They had gotten out of the settlement into the adjacent fields, which were wholly burnt to a crisp from all the destruction their attacks generated.

When I looked at Vespera, she was quite beaten up, with a drop of blood coming down her head and mouth and the bottom of her dress somewhat ripped apart.

Drakzen was in his half-demon form, which was the one I was most used to seeing at this point.

"Ah, I ran out of time... How unfortunate," said Drakzen as he saw me arriving.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?" I asked in a low tone of voice laced with anger as I stood next to my companion.

"My job, of course. Gathering powerful beasts," Drakzen replied indifferently.

"So, you thought you could take my companion from me?" I asked again with my eyes sharpened against Drakzen.

The devil grinned and shrugged, which only made me angrier, making my body go into a soft-awakened state with phoenix fire.

I rushed at him at full speed with my bo in hand, but instead of fighting back, Drakzen started running away.

’Where is he going?’ I pondered as I followed him, noticing that he was going back to the settlement.

I thought that he was going to the place where all the settlers were being protected, so I used all of my power to get there first and guard them. Nonetheless, I guessed wrong.

Drakzen wasn’t focusing on the freed citizens but on the magic quartz that led to the capital, and after he took a turn and made his way to the crystal room, I realized what his new target was.

’Dammit!’ I thought, using a massive amount of energy to launch myself at him.

Just as my hand grazed his clothing, Drakzen activated the crystal and teleported us both to the capital, making us appear in the middle of the destroyed throne room, where I left the crystal.

I was getting close to catching him, but suddenly, something came from the side and knocked Drakzen away with such force that it even pushed me back a little.

When I turned my head, I felt an incredible and threatening aura coming from the individual that knocked him away.

"Jackson...?" I pondered out loud.

When the figure lifted his head, I saw his long, red hair waving behind his back and two large horns coming from the top of his forehead.

I instantly recognized him as soon as I saw his face, but it was my first time seeing him in his half-demon form. In fact, it was my first time sensing his demonic energy, which was quite powerful.

"I can’t mess with Vyrazul’s plans, but the vow says nothing about you, Drakzen..." said Jackson, pointing his spear at the devil as he rose from the ground.

Jackson’s knockback was good enough to draw a bit of blood from Drakzen’s head, but the devil still looked unbothered as he smiled and licked the drop of blood that trailed down to his lips.

"Heh, are you sure you want to do that, Jaterno?" Drakzen asked.

"It’s been a while since you used your powers. Don’t strain yourself..." he continued, pointing his palm at Jackson and shooting a shadow orb that traveled at high speeds.

Jackson was able to defend himself with his spear and deflected the shadow orb, but it was a diversion for Drakzen to get close to him and kick him in the face.

Nevertheless, I was also part of this fight, so I caught up with Drakzen and started attacking him before he could land more strikes on Jackson.

It was two against one, and even though Jackson wasn’t casting any spells, he was using his demonic energy to increase his physical strength and speed.

Each of his spear attacks generated a shockwave from the force of his impacts, but Drakzen was able to avoid any significant damage as he moved around the destroyed palace at incredible speeds.

We could hear the thundering from Melina’s attacks coming from the other side of the palace as her lightning bolts illuminated the sky every few seconds.

Suddenly, there was a massive explosion that took a large chunk of the palace, and the MP coming from it was Yoru’s, which made me a little worried for my companion.

Following the explosion, the skies above the palace turned darker as black clouds started to cover the moonlight, spinning slowly like a vortex right on top of our heads.

In the center of the vortex, I could see Melina suspended high above in the air with electric currents covering all of her body.

She had the lightning sword in hand, but when she raised it in the air, its shape turned to look like a long, shiny spear that emanated a blinding light.

’Ah, THAT must be the actual weapon from Phelena’s armory...’ I thought.

When she awakened, I gave her my adamantite sword to help her out, and it turned into what I thought was a godly weapon. However, it turned out that it was just Melina pouring her MP into the blade.

Now that she had been in the awakened state for longer, she was able to summon the real deal.

The thundering vortex that covered the sky was her doing, and her MP seemed to be all over the place as a powerful pressure fell on everyone present at the palace, including Drakzen, who was pretty shocked at Melina’s power.

"Seems like it’s time..." Drakzen muttered, rushing away from our fight.

’Huh?’ I thought, a bit annoyed that Drakzen was always trying to run away.

However, when I saw that he was making his way towards Melina, my instincts kicked in, and I used all of my energy to follow right behind.

’Is he trying to support Vyrazul?’ I pondered as I kept rushing.

When we reached the courtyard on the other side of the castle, I saw two things.

On the left, Vyrazul was powering up an attack aimed at Melina while she charged her attack in the air.

On the right, Yoru was standing on top of Minotaur’s corpse, which had its head cut off by my companion. Still, Yoru didn’t look too good himself, as he was bleeding from every part of his body.
