Chapter 323: Vespera’s Emergency

Chapter 323: Vespera’s Emergency

After Melina launched Vyrazul into the palace’s throne room, I quickly stood up and flew to their location to make sure that the devil was killed.

Vyrazul was lying in the palace’s throne room with a cut that went vertically across her face all the way down to her gut.

She was slowly regenerating her wounds, but Melina was ready to end the fight and jump down into the throne room.

However, just as she jumped down, I felt two different powerful presences coming toward us at high speeds, making me perk up and scan my surroundings.

I turned my head, and all I saw were two shadows passing by quickly and crashing beside me.

It was Yoru holding Minotaur by one of his horns after making him crash down with the back of his head, destroying another part of the roof and landing on the other side of the throne room.

The two of them looked quite beat up, but Yoru seemed to have the upper hand in their fight. Still, as soon as Minotaur saw the state of Vyrazul, he went into a raging state that turned his eyes bright red and created a massive explosion wave around him.

The attack was so large that it made both Yoru and Melina step away from the room quickly so they wouldn’t get caught up in the blast, giving Vyrazul enough time to heal herself.

With the throne room completely falling apart, Yoru, Melina, and I stood before Minotaur and Vyrazul.

I still hadn’t recuperated all of my MP from the curses that Vyrazul placed on me, but I had enough to cast a few supporting spells if needed.

The devil wasn’t giving us her wicked smile anymore. Instead, she looked pretty angry at the fact that we had gotten this far.

Without speaking a word to each other, Yoru and Minotaur continued their onslaught while Melina and Vyrazul exchanged blows.

At that moment, I heard Vespera talking to me telepathically.

["Ichiro... Drakzen is here!"] she exclaimed, giving me goosebumps.

Vespera was all the way in the Yuandu settlement, which I could only get to using a magic quartz.

["What!? Why is he there!? There is nothing there that could interest him-!"] I replied, but before I could finish the sentence, I thought about what it was that he wanted.

["Vespera, get the hell away from there!"] I shouted at her in my head.

["That’s... gonna be a bit tricky..."] she replied, pausing in between words, which made me believe that she was already engaged in a fight against Drakzen.

*tch* I scoffed with frustration.

I had left Vespera at Yuandu so she would protect the people there from soldiers or low-ranking demons, but I really wasn’t expecting Drakzen to show up there.

["Vesp, bring him to the magic quartz if you can. Bring him here!"] I said.

It took a few seconds for her to reply, which made me worry for a moment.

["I’ll try!"] she exclaimed.

The magic quartz at Yuandu was attuned to dozens of crystals, which we were using to get the people from the outskirts to safety, but knowing that a devil was there left us with no choice.

If Vespera managed to teleport with him, it would take them to the crystal that Vespera chose, so I opened my void pocket and placed one right in front of me, hoping that she would appear here.

Yoru and Melina were going all-out against their opponents, and seeing that they had it under control, I was considering using the magic quartz myself.

It was risky since it would leave an open door to Yuandu right inside the palace, but it was very possible that Drakzen was going after Vespera.

Both Nessa and Jackson told me that Drakzen specialized in creating Accursed Beasts, which could be done by nurturing a beast like what Armaros tried to do with the Kraken, or it could be done by corrupting a Legendary Beast.

Kana and Igor, the two demonoids, had stayed at Yuandu at our request, but I knew that they wouldn’t be that much help against a devil like Drakzen.

’Screw it...’ I thought.

"Melina, Yoru! I’ll be right back!" I shouted, using sound magic to make sure that they heard me.

Right at that moment, I used the magic quartz to bring me to Yuandu, and I appeared inside a room that was on fire, making me use water magic to put it out quickly.

Leaving the room, the first thing I saw was all the settlers running and taking refuge in some of the buildings we constructed for them, including Leslie and her mother.

"Big brother!" Leslie shouted.

Vespera and Drakzen’s fight was making the ground shake, and the wake of their attacks was destroying some of the buildings and making them catch fire. It was as if a natural disaster was hitting the settlement.

Thankfully, we had an underground bunker-style building that we made for this type of emergency, and while everyone was packed like sardines in the underground room, it was the safest place in the area.

After quickly guiding Leslie’s mother to the underground room, I spotted two figures lying on the ground with their backs against a rock.

’Someone’s wounded!’ I thought, rushing towards them.

When I got closer, I noticed it was both Kana and Igor, bleeding profusely from wounds all over their torso, legs, and arms.

It seemed like the attacks were made to make them suffer as much as possible before dying, and honestly, they both had one foot on the grave.

I took out two healing potions from my void pocket and doused their bodies with them, but they were too hurt to wake up after their wounds healed.

’They’ll live...’ I thought after placing my finger on their necks to check their pulse.

I was about to run off towards the area where Drakzen and Vespera were fighting when I felt someone clenching my poncho and tugging it weakly.

When I turned around, I saw Kana with tears on her face and a frown that was pretty heartbreaking.

"I’m so sorry... We-... We couldn’t protect anyone..." she muttered as her voice broke down before falling unconscious again.

I didn’t know much about these two demonoids other than the fact that they were victims of Vyrazul’s experiments.

To be honest, I didn’t expect them to be of help to us that entire time. However, I could tell when someone shed genuine tears of regret.

Kana shared her regrets and sorrows with me, even if it was just for a moment, so I decided that they needed to be freed as well.
