Chapter 318: Chaos at the Capital
Chapter 318: Chaos at the Capital
As my fight with Sinoc kept increasing in intensity, we were razing the entire abandoned district to the ground with our attacks.
Sinoc was supposed to be as strong as a colored demon, but honestly, this guy was as powerful as Armaros, so it wasn’t as easy to take him down as I thought it would be.
During the encounter, I could feel different torrents of MP coming from other parts of the outskirts, which led me to believe that our squadrons were teleporting the enslaved villagers to Yuandu.
For all of the teams who were tasked with freeing the people on the outskirts, I gave them a magic quartz to take with them. That way, they would be able to teleport the people to safety in an instant.
Melina had destroyed most of the defenses atop the wall, which was easy to tell from all the smoke rising and slightly covering the city.
By this point, the entire capital was in chaos as people were running on the streets to get to a safe location.
Thankfully, my fight with Sinoc was taking place in one of the abandoned districts, so we didn’t see anyone near us. Nevertheless, that didn’t last long.
During one of our exchanges, I parried a dozen quick blows from Sinoc before hitting him in the stomach with my bo, sending him flying through the walls of different homes.
When he stood up, his back was bleeding from the impact, but he didn’t have any regenerative powers. Instead, he clenched his fist, and the drops of blood from his back started floating around him before turning into solid red knives.
’Blood magic...’ I thought.
I had seen blood magic before from Drakzen and his werewolves, so I wasn’t expecting Sinoc to be able to use it, too. Still, while it made it harder to approach him, it wasn’t enough to completely stop me.
Truthfully, I didn’t want to spend a lot of MP fighting Sinoc since I knew that I would need it later, but his resilience was making me use more of my power by the minute.
At one point, Sinoc summoned a pair of black wings made of shadows and started flying toward the palace, making me follow right behind him.
I could tell that he was trying to lure me into a trap, so instead of getting close to him, I gathered light magic at the tip of my finger and pointed at him as if I had a gun in my hand.
After a quick second, I shot a thin laser beam that hit him on one of his wings and went through his shoulder, making him crash down on the palace’s roof.
I took out my adamantite sword and launched myself down, ready to stab him against the ground and end our fight once and for all.
However, just as I landed, I felt a strong force that resisted my sword and made me take a quick step back out of caution.
When the dust settled, I found Vyrazul standing next to Sinoc, who was slowly getting up while holding his shoulder in pain.
*tsk* "Bad timing..." I scoffed.
The devil pointed one finger at Sinoc and raised his demonic energy, along with healing all of the wounds that he received from me. However, Sinoc didn’t seem alleviated after receiving her treatment, as he was still panting and breathing loudly.
Just when I thought that it would be two against one, the last defense on the walls exploded, and we could all feel a powerful entity coming toward us—one I recognized.
Not even twenty seconds later, Melina was hovering above us, looking down at Vyrazul and Sinoc with a condescending stare as she slowly descended next to me.
"I see. The princess of another nation wants to play hero..." the devil muttered when she saw Melina.
Being in the empress position for a few years made Vyrazul quite knowledgeable about the royal families of other nations, so she knew the characteristics of the Sephyr family.
Melina, however, didn’t say anything back at the devil and simply kept staring at her with a severe expression and determined eyes.
"Just give up, girl. You wouldn’t believe how easy it was to control the emperor..." said Vyrazul.
"The emperor was told that his wife passed away, and he didn’t even see her corpse. Instead, he decided to have a night filled with lust with me! Don’t you see!? It is easy for us to take over the world!" she continued.
I mean, I agreed that the emperor was an idiot, but I wasn’t okay with being put in the same category as him.
"Why...?" Melina muttered.
"Hmm?" Vyrazul hummed as she moved her head laterally.
"Why did you torture those people? Why did you create a law to enslave all commoners!? Why did you give those children such awful experiences!?" Melina asked, each question louder than the previous.
The devil raised her arms to the side and laughed, explaining that despair was what gave her more power.
"The more people are suffering, the better I feel..." Vyrazul said, almost blushing.
"Especially when other women suffer. Heh, I love it!" she exclaimed with a wicked smile.
Right after Vyrazul answered, Melina clenched the handle of her estoc as her MP increased in potency.
Faster than the blink of an eye, she had appeared right in front of both Vyrazul and Sinoc and used ice magic to split them apart, sending the devil to her side and leaving the mage on mine.
It was a one-on-one now, but I didn’t want to leave Melina alone with the devil, so I prepared myself to use all of my power to defeat Sinoc and regroup with her as fast as possible.
Still, it wouldn’t be as simple as I thought since Sinoc had received more demonic energy from her and healed his wounds.
Honestly, at this point, the mage looked more like an actual devil than a human, with both of his horns and shadowy wings. His face had the same kind of black veins as the two demonoids, and the white on his eyes had turned midnight black.
’Sorry, Sage Astra, but your pupil is long gone...’ I thought.
