Chapter 310: Sinoc and the Scarlet Trio

As Yoru and I stood before the four empress’ guards in the underground dungeon of the palace, we prepared ourselves for a fight.

Just as we were about to launch ourselves at them, we felt a surge of power coming from somewhere else in the city, alerting Sinoc as he turned around to give a command to the hooded trio.

’That must be Melina...’ I thought.

"You two, go check what was that!" Sinoc exclaimed to the two people who still hadn’t shown their faces.

"No, you won’t," I replied, using lightning magic to appear right next to them and forcefully slamming them against the wall with wind magic.

With a quick reaction time, Sinoc generated a wind slice that was directed at me, but I easily avoided it and launched myself back at the two greater demons.

Honestly, I didn’t know what they truly were at that time, but I just considered them to be greater demons as they had pure demonic energy flowing from them.

I gave them both a strong kick in the gut, making them lose their air for a moment before Sinoc shot another wind slice at me in response.

This time, however, I used my own magic to deviate his slice to the side, making it hit the wall behind me as the falling debris fell on the two greater demons.

"This is your magic?" I asked as I gazed at the mage.

Covering my body with lightning magic, I appeared right in front of Sinoc. Simultaneously, I cast gravity magic to slow down his movements and landed a fiery fist on his stomach.

If I had punched a normal person, that fist would have gone through them, but Sinoc demonstrated that he was above an average person.

Still, he coughed a good amount of blood that splashed my face before crashing into a wall from the force of my punch.

On the other side, Yoru and Minotaur were exchanging blows that were getting louder and stronger by the second.

The wake of the beasts’ attacks was making the structure tremble around us, but I wasn’t worried about burying the entire place under the rubble.

At that moment, Sinoc got back on his feet with blood still dripping from his mouth and a somber expression, making demonic energy appear all around him, which was actually quite powerful.

He pointed his palm at the two hooded demons next to him, and I could see him transferring some of his energy to them.

I could sense a strange barrier covering Sinoc, which I supposed he cast for protection while he shared his energy with the others.

To test it, I shot a fire laser at him, but it stopped and dissipated a few feet away from him after hitting his demonic barrier.

Barrier spells like that were great for defense, but they also spent a lot of energy as the caster had to keep feeding it MP, or in his case, demonic energy.

When the other two got up from the ground, they removed their hoods, and horns appeared on both of their heads.

’Hmm, so their hood has some sort of enchantment that hides their demon features...’ I thought.

One of them was a man with dark hair and red eyes, with black veins appearing all over his face that palpitated with demonic energy.

The other was a woman with short, dark hair and gray eyes, sharing the same black veins on her face that seemed to be an effect of Sinoc’s energy transfer.

"Go!" Sinoc shouted at the two.

"I told you. You are not going anywhere!" I shouted back, slamming my bo down and making the ground of the entire dungeon rise with all of us standing on it.

Still using earth magic, I made a hole in the ceiling so that me and Yoru wouldn’t get squished, but Sinoc managed to do the same with his group, making us appear in the middle of a random hallway in the palace.

Seeing that the two greater demons were still trying to leave the fight, I used lightning magic to increase my speed and catch up to them.

Nevertheless, Sinoc was ready that time and managed to block me from getting to them on time.

"Tch!" I scoffed, knowing that the two of them would be going after Melina.

"Are you sure you don’t need them?" I asked Sinoc, who seemed to be taking me seriously now.

He didn’t reply. Instead, his MP and demonic energy started to rise in power even more.

Humans weren’t supposed to be able to control demonic energy, so my theory was that he had gained the ability to do so thanks to Vyrazul.

Sinoc, who didn’t have any weapons on him at first, covered his arms with shadows that took the form of long, black blades, making it seem as if both of his arms were scimitar swords.

In the blink of an eye, my bo was clashing with his two blades, generating a wake of energy that shattered the hall’s windows and blew away the tapestry decorating the walls.

Our movements got gradually faster and stronger, and as we kept rushing inside the palace, destroying everything around us, Yoru and Minotaur were having their own destruction derby.

We had taken our plan one big step ahead, and now we were more than just a diversion.

The guards were all alerted of our presence since it was difficult to ignore the explosions inside, but they couldn’t interfere in our fight.

At one point, the palace’s halls were up in flames, and the smoke was making it hard to breathe, so I jumped out of the window into one of the courtyards, where I kept exchanging blows with Sinoc.

Honestly, I still had tons of energy to keep going while Sinoc looked like he was getting exhausted.

’I wonder if using demonic energy has a stronger toll on his body...’ I thought.

I wanted to capture Sinoc alive so that he could be punished for the atrocities he committed in the name of the empress, and just as I got ready to knock him out, his demonic energy rose exponentially.

It felt the same as when Zagor and Armaros transformed into their "true" forms, but Sinoc was originally a human, so I wasn’t sure if that was what he was trying to do.

Still, his energy stopped when a sudden hand gently grabbed his shoulder—a presence that made me freeze momentarily.

It was the empress wearing a red silk dress that seemed to be her sleeping attire, with her hair down and without any shoes.

"Calm down, my child. I’m here now..." she muttered to Sinoc’s ears.

’Well... I should have expected this...’ I thought as I gazed at the palace’s wing where Sinoc and I were fighting, now fully covered in flames.
