My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World -
Chapter 309: Ichiro’s Diversion
Chapter 309: Ichiro’s Diversion
After feeding the holy panacea to Empress Chunhua, the woman regained her skin color, and her dried, chapped lips healed back up.
"Wh-what... happened...?" she asked as she inspected her healthy hands.
"You were cursed by a devil, but my potion was able to cleanse it, so you shouldn’t be feeling any pain," I replied.
"How is this possible? Who are you?" the former empress asked.
"My name is Ichiro. I’m here to kill the devil that messed with this country..."
The woman looked confused, which was a pretty normal reaction, but I still urged her to get up from the bed and meet up with the other prisoners.
I held my hand to help her get up as a sign of respect and led her out of the room, where her son was waiting for her.
Seeing his mother standing up and walking made Prince Renjun shed a few tears as he hugged her, and while it was a wholesome moment, I needed them to move quicker.
Not even a minute later, Yoru and Karla came to the same office room with all of the prisoners walking behind them, so I asked them to bundle together while I opened my void pocket.
At first, I was just going to teleport the prisoners to safety, but now that there were around 20 of them, I decided to use a magic quartz and send them straight to Yuandu.
Of course, this created a massive torrent of energy that caught the attention of the empress’ guards, but that was the whole reason for me coming here in the first place.
Once every single prisoner at the palace dungeon was sent to Yuandu, I stowed away the magic quartz and stood in the center of the hallway, looking at the main entrance, waiting for the empress’ guards to come to me.
Honestly, I was supposed to create a diversion and escape, but the rage I was feeling after seeing and hearing the stories of the prisoners had me in a different state of mind.
Two minutes after I sent everyone away, I heard multiple footsteps coming down, and it was all four of the empress’ guards.
I was wearing my mask just in case, but even if I weren’t, they wouldn’t know who I was.
As the group stood before me with Sinoc at the front, they inspected my information. Of course, they couldn’t read a thing since it was all censored by my own magic.
"You must be the nuisance that has been bothering us the past few days..." said Sinoc with an indifferent tone.
I was hiding most of my MP by holding it inside my body so they wouldn’t know exactly how strong I was, and that must have made Sinoc feel like he was going to end this quickly.
"That’s right, and you must be the empress’ dogs who helped destroy this country..." I replied with a cheeky tone.
"Destroy? How ignorant..." he said.
"Oh, yeah? Enlighten me, then..." I replied.
"Empress Yulian has done her best to keep the order and military strength of Guanghua. Rulers are the ones who have to make these difficult decisions..." Sinoc explained, seemingly calm.
"Oh, I see. You are just an idiot..." I replied.
For the first time since he arrived, Sinoc showed a sliver of emotions when he widened his eyes after my comment.
"How about you call the empress for what she truly is? Devil Vyrazul..." I said, making the four of them perk up with anticipation.
"What?" Sinoc asked, somewhat shocked that I uttered her name.
"Heh, calling me ignorant when you are being deliberately obtuse. Did you think I was some kind of dumbass acting on a whim?" I continued, slowly releasing the MP I had hidden.
"I know everything you’ve done for the sake of your precious succubus. How sad... What would Sage Astra think of you in this pathetic state?" I said.
I knew that Sinoc used to be Sage Astra’s pupil, and after he disappeared, she stopped having personal students and only gave general lectures at the tower from time to time.
The mention of her name seemed to trigger something in Sinoc, and his MP started going wild as if he wanted to threaten me. Nonetheless, I was also hiding more than half my energy.
When I released it in response, the Scarlet Trio and Sinoc prepared themselves as they adopted a combat stance. However, before any of us could make a move, Yoru got out of my shadow in his beastkin form.
He was growling and showing his fangs at one specific member of the trio, and that’s when it clicked for me.
I had seen these guys at the palace when Melina and I were invisible, and one of them had the same aura around them that Salamandra used to have.
If that guy was indeed an Accursed Beast, then it was Yoru’s divine mission to end its life, as it was the condition Garon gave him for turning him into a Legendary Beast.
"Heh, hey man, what kind of Accursed Beast are you?" I asked, pointing at the hooded man.
He looked the burliest of them all, so I assumed it must have been a large beast. When the man took off his hood, two bull horns appeared on his head.
He had long white hair and a septum-piercing ring on his nose, which also reminded me of a bull.
"Minotaur..." Yoru muttered with anger.
Simultaneously, the other two hooded figures started releasing their hidden energy, and I instantly recognized it as demonic energy. However, it wasn’t even close to the level of the devils.
"I see. Then you two must be greater demons or something..." I said, gazing at the two individuals who were still hiding their faces.
For a brief moment, I wondered if we should try escaping or fighting. All we really needed to do was create a diversion for Melina to get the old man Yushan from his mansion.
However, seeing Sinoc’s face kept bringing Leslie’s memories back into my brain, and my emotions started to take over.
’You know what? I’m pretty fired up right now...’ I thought as I prepared myself for a fight of four against two.
