Chapter 271: World Titan

After reading the records inside the World’s Titan, I noticed another very long engraving on the wall beside it.

When I approached it to read it, it seemed to be some sort of angry letter.

"The idiot Alejandro thought it would be funny to leave riddles for us, so I’ll leave the detailed explanation for how this thing works..."

I recognized the writing as the same one from Kyoko’s journal, so we deduced that it was her who left the angry message on the wall.

However, she genuinely left detailed instructions on everything.

"The core is kept under the palace in Guanghua.

The arrow eye is a tracker. It is inside a temple in the Kalusia jungle.

The second eye is at the top of the highest peak in Vista.

The equalizer is in a cave close to Lotus’ capital."

Kyoko must have been so fed up with Alejandro’s antics that she erased the riddles he left and replaced them with detailed locations for each of the pieces that were needed to power up the titan.

Honestly, I was thanking Kyoko in my head for being so direct. In her own words that were written on the walls. "If there was an emergency, nobody wants to read that stupid crap!"

She then explained the function of each of the pieces.

The core is what powered the titan, as it was a relic that could keep generating energy as long as it had the dwarven machines connected to it.

The arrow eye was a tracker so that it could locate its enemies.

The second eye was a relic that boosted its power to the maximum capacity.

The equalizer was a relic that gathered the energy of all pieces and fused them together, keeping them in harmony, or the relics would have imploded.

Apart from roasting Alejandro for his vague clues, she also praised him for being a genius in coming up with such a design.

"This is... pretty crazy," I said after reading the instructions.

Skadan and Dulmar were perplexed. It was the first time that they heard the details of the titan’s inner workings, so they couldn’t keep their eyes off the engravings.

"Hmmm, the arrow one is a tracker found in Kalusia... Could it be?" I pondered as I took out the relic bracelet.

When I approached the altar with the arrow-shaped slot, we were surprised to see it was a perfect fit.

I thought that the bracelet was just a devil tracker left by the past reincarnators, but it ended up being much more than that—it was one of the crucial pieces to power up the world’s secret weapon.

"It says the core is in Guanghua. Do you think it’s still there?" Melina asked.

We knew that Guanghua was under a devil’s control, and if they were aware of the secret weapon, it was possible that the core had been hidden or destroyed.

"Hold up. Even if the core is there or not, we don’t really have a reason to wake this thing up..." I said.

When we read the records of the past reincarnators, only Alejandro wrote down his usage of the weapon. Giuseppe and Kyoko never needed it, but we didn’t know their reasons.

"Hey, Ichiro, Melina. Look at this..." Vespera said as she inspected what looked like a metallic cabinet.

It had an English engraving on it that said, "Twenty plus twenty."

"Umm, forty?" I said after reading the question, making the cabinet glow for a moment before unlocking.

It was the same type of magic that was used to keep the relic bracelet inside the temple in Kalusia, so I deduced it must have been Alejandro who put the cabinet there.

Inside, we found a thick journal with details of all of the past reincarnators struggles.

For the first time, I found something that Alejandro left behind that wasn’t riddled with puzzles or vague explanations.

The first part of the journal was all about Alejandro, where he recounted that during his stay in this world, he vanquished seven devils and a demon king.

’That’s a lot...’ I thought.

He explained in his notes that he wasn’t able to stop the "Black Ring" from rising and had to come up with the blueprints of the secret weapon to destroy it.

I had no idea what the "black ring" was, and he didn’t elaborate on it, so we kept reading to see if there were more clues.

While he didn’t elaborate on what it was, I could deduce by the context that the "black ring" was a place.

I mean, some lines said: "After the world’s titan was powered up, it traveled directly to the black ring..." so it was safe to say that Black Ring was a place.

The dwarves had no clue what the hell I was talking about, stating that they had never heard of such a place, and the only ring they knew about was White Ring, which was the mountains that surrounded their nation.

The other parts of the journal were filled out by Giuseppe and Kyoko.

Giuseppe had to kill four demons during his time in this world and wrote that since the Black Ring didn’t appear, he had no use for the world titan.

Kyoko was similar, although she killed five demons in total during her time here. Still, she didn’t need the weapon as the Black Ring didn’t appear for her either.

At that moment, I started to remember the visions from the future that Sage Astra showed me at the tower.

In one of those images, I saw a massive island that seemed to be protected by a black ring from above.

’Could that be what the journal refers to?’ I thought, as it would be quite a coincidence if it weren’t.

"Hmmm, new plan. I think we should get the pieces for the weapon. Just in case..." I said to my group.

We were already going to Guanghua after our stay in Durinhold, but now we had more reasons to go there, apart from taking care of the devil.

Honestly, I would have liked to explore the dwarven nation a bit more, but I convinced myself that we would have enough time to travel once all of the devils weren’t bothering us anymore.
