Chapter 270: The World’s Secret Weapon
Chapter 270: The World’s Secret Weapon
As we walked up the stairs inside the giant humanoid-weapon’s leg, we reached a point that seemed to be his knee.
Here, there were carvings on the wall with English words and a few drawings, which reminded us of the ones we saw at the ancient temple in Kalusia.
’Did Alejandro make this?’ I wondered.
Alejandro was the oldest reincarnator that I knew about, and he had this thing with drawing everything he did instead of just writing it down in a note.
Still, when I looked at the drawings, I noticed that one of them looked like a sketch of what the robot was supposed to look like.
’Was this guy an artist in his past life or something?’ I pondered again.
Alejandro’s drawings were quite good and detailed. He even added some shading to some of them, so I could tell that he wasn’t a rookie artist.
The king told us that the creator of the secret weapon left those engravings, and while they could interpret the drawings and get the meaning behind them, the words were utterly unknown to them.
It had been hours since we went inside the robot’s foot, so we used that time to rest on the large knee space before going up more.
After a few more hours of expedition, we reached the waist and found ourselves in a massive room the size of a whole town, with heavy machinery all around us.
The contraptions were all off, so nothing was moving, but it didn’t take away from the surprising engineering they had inside.
Placed in the center of the room, a large stone tablet with English engraved on it stood firmly.
"This is the power center.
Here, the energy distributed to the legs is stored and used for movement.
Make sure to have at least five competent engineers at all times..."
I read the tablet aloud, noticing that the two dwarves were listening to me attentively.
"So, I guess this room was the thing that made the legs move..." I said.
However, my words seemed to take the enthusiasm out of Skadan and Dulmar.
They explained that they had reverse-engineered the weapon dozens of times, so they already knew that the machinery in the waist controlled the legs. However, they didn’t know how to power it up.
Still, the tablet didn’t say how to turn it on, so their answer wasn’t in that room.
Seeing that it was already nighttime, we decided to stay the night in the waist machinery room before continuing early the following day.
The next morning, everyone woke up with eagerness to keep going, and we made our way to the stairs that would take us to the chest.
It took us a few more hours to get there, but when we did, we noticed that the chest’s room was bigger than the waist’s.
There was a giant circular door on one side of the room, and the king told me that it was the other entrance.
Out of curiosity, I opened it with my dwarven coin and saw that we were high up in the mountain as a strong gust of wind flowed into the room.
In the center of the room, there was another stone tablet with English engravings and another beside it with a circular hole that seemed to fit a sphere in it.
There was still dwarven machinery around the room, but it was nothing compared to the waist—this one looked more open.
"This is the core room.
Place the core in the altar to begin the power transfer.
The core won’t start unless all the pieces are connected."
After I read the engravings, the king nodded, saying that they had a theory that stated this was the core room, but they could never fully reverse-engineer it.
With the waist’s room, they were able to pick everything apart since all the machinery was made by the dwarves themselves. However, this room seemed to have a more magical approach to it, so they couldn’t figure out how it worked exactly.
"Hmm, I wish they left more detailed instructions..." I said, remembering that Alejandro never explained anything and left lots of poems and riddles.
"Don’t worry, lad. We still haven’t made it to the head!" the king said, giving me a pat on the back.
Apparently, the head’s room was filled with ancient scriptures that they couldn’t decipher, so I was feeling a bit more confident.
It took us a few more hours to reach it, but it was by far the coolest room out of all.
The area looked like the command center of a spaceship or maybe even a mecha from a comic.
The front had a long glass panel that gave us a clear view of the outside and all of Rockvalley.
The walls were all engraved with English sentences, and there were three small altars in the center.
’This guy Alejandro... He really made the blueprints for a goddamn mecha!’ I thought, still perplexed at the sight.
The three altars had sockets with different shapes. One of them was a sphere, similar to the one we saw in the core room, although with a smaller radius.
The one next to it had the shape of an arrow, which was somewhat familiar, although I couldn’t tell why.
The last one, which was behind the first two, had a triangular shape that was a bit larger than the previous ones.
"This is the command center.
The two eyes and the equalizer must be placed in their respective slots."
’This guy...’ I thought, annoyed at Alejandro’s vague explanations again.
Suddenly, Melina called me to check something next to the glass panel, and it was a long tablet with English written all over it.
"Records of World Titan usage:
Alejandro - Used one time.
Giuseppe - Never used.
Kyoko - Never used."
"So, this thing is called the World Titan..." I said.
The two dwarves perked up with enthusiasm, saying that the name of the weapon had been lost for a long time.
"Gotta say, World Titan’s a fine name for a contraption like this..." said the king before laughing loudly.
