When Ichiro’s group split up to take on both Drakzen and Salamandra, they weren’t expecting the encounter to last as long as it did.

The maids didn’t have a problem catching up with the Accursed Beast when it came to speed, but their power wasn’t enough to do any significant damage to him.

Yoru was on the same boat. Although his blinding rage for Salamandra gave him enough strength for his attacks to affect the beast, the moonwolf was also receiving a ton of damage in return.

Vespera, on the other hand, was on par with Salamandra’s strength. Even though she hadn’t used her powers to their full extent, she was the one giving their opponent the most trouble.

After receiving a kick from the Queen Demon Spider that drew blood from his mouth, Salamandra started to get frustrated.

He couldn’t understand why Vespera was so much more powerful than him.

’I’m an Accursed Beast! I should be the one making her submit to me!’ he thought.

Still delving into his delusions, Vespera used that moment to bring out her spider legs from her back and tried stabbing Salamandra. Nonetheless, his rage and frustration made him act quickly and block her offensive.

The maids’ mithril weapons weren’t working for them, as Salamandra’s fire used demonic energy and not MP, so it was ineffective whenever they tried to protect themselves from the flames with them.

Luckily, they both had adamantite weapons they could use and infuse with their magic, allowing their attacks to damage the beast slightly. Still, their moves were not even close to Vespera’s level.

At one point, two figures emerged from Salamandra’s shadow, which the group instantly recognized as greater demons.

The creatures’ body builds resembled those they fought in Kalusia, making the group waver for a moment as they analyzed the situation.

Salamandra laughed out loud. "The Lord hasn’t forsaken me!" he shouted, raising both of his arms as the demons finished materializing.

The Accursed Beast had a demonic enchantment placed on him that summoned two greater demons to his aid if he received enough damage.

’Hmm, this is bad...’ Vespera thought, knowing Salamandra’s intentions.

"Focus on the spider. I’ll take the other three..." the Accursed Beast commanded the demons.

In the blink of an eye, the two massive monsters appeared next to Vespera with their fist raised. Nonetheless, the Legendary Beast was too fast to get hit by such a simple attack.

Salamandra wanted to get Vespera out of the battle, knowing that she was the only one who could kill him out of the four.

Now that the two greater demons were solely focused on her, she didn’t have an opening to go for Salamandra.

As the Accursed Beast cast fire spells and explosions all around him, Vespera hurried up to execute the demons and return to her team.

However, when she used her spider legs to stab the head of one of them and made it implode, she noticed that it started regenerating almost instantly.

’How is that thing healing itself so quickly...?’ Vespera thought, but she remained calm and collected.

Their battle lasted for hours, and the maids’ stamina had depleted to the point where they could barely move.

They had a few potions with them when their encounter started, but after fighting for so long, they ran out.

Vespera was still busy with the two greater demons, who seemed to get stronger after each time that she killed them, making it nearly impossible for her to approach Salamandra.

Yoru, on the other hand, was still determined to hunt down the monster. His fur had burnt spots, and he had a few cuts on his snout. Still, his resolve was unwavering as he stood tall.

When nighttime arrived, the two maids received a blast that sent them flying back into a rock.

Their heads were bleeding, and their bodies couldn’t move anymore, but they remained conscious as they both looked up into the night sky and noticed the full moon.

Vespera, who was still busy fighting the two greater demons, suddenly shifted from reality and found herself on an empty plain with seemingly no ground to stand on.

She recognized the realm, but it didn’t take away from her confusion, which only got worse when she spotted Yoru in the same domain.

"Yoru? What happened? Why are we here?" she asked, thinking that the moonwolf had a clue.

"I called you both here..." a deep voice replied, making Ichiro’s companions turn to look at the man.

"God Garon..." Vespera muttered.

"It’s been a while, Queen Demon Spider. Well, I guess you are ’Vespera’ now." the godly figure replied.

Garon, the God of Beasts, looked like a tall, burly beastkin with long, light-brown hair and golden eyes.

He had the ears of a wolf, the tail of a dragon, and the fangs of a tiger. He wore a simple fur vest that had a "caveman" style, and his poise was unmatched.

"Is something wrong? You wouldn’t call us here if it weren’t important, right?" Vespera asked the god.

"Mhm, it’s quite important..." Garon replied.

"Vespera, what is this moonwolf to you?" he continued.

"Yoru? To me?" she asked in return, shooting a glance at the wolf.

"He is one of my best friends, of course!" Vespera replied confidently with a smile.

"I see," Garon said as he approached Yoru.

"You, who has been fighting alongside my sibling as his loyal shadow..." the god continued, raising his hand and materializing magic circles around Yoru.

"Can you protect this world from the Accursed Beasts when your master is no longer alive!?" he asked with a loud tone of voice.

Vespera instantly understood what was happening, as she had gone through the same ritual when she became a Legendary Beast.

Garon was giving Yoru a mission. Like any other Legendary Beast, they had a special task that was given to them by their god, which they had to fulfill in order to keep their title.

Yoru’s mission wouldn’t truly begin until his contract with Ichiro was severed, but it still had to be agreed upon for Garon to be able to bestow the title to him.

With a hearty bark, Yoru agreed to Garon’s conditions, making the magic circles around him glow intensely.
