My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World -
Chapter 253: Drakzen’s Plan
Chapter 253: Drakzen’s Plan
Our battle against Drakzen continued for a while as Nessa, Melina, and I were focused on him while the rest of our group fought Salamandra.
The devil wasn’t using his full power against us, which deterred me from using my full strength.
I knew that devils had different forms that they would transform whenever they needed more power.
It happened with both Armaros and Zagor, who suddenly revealed their final forms when they realized they couldn’t beat me without it. However, Drakzen maintained his human form the entire time.
I didn’t want to use my awakening unless Drakzen transformed, and I had a good reason for it.
If I were to awaken and fail to kill the devil in that short amount of time, it would pretty much leave me out of the fight.
Awakening used all of my MP and would always leave me feeling exhausted and useless for a bit, so I had to save it as a last-resort option.
During the encounter, Melina and I drank at least ten MP potions each as we fought for literal hours, so we had to replenish our energy periodically.
We weren’t using any spells that would take a lot of our MP reserve, but after casting them for hours, they stacked up.
Thankfully, Nessa was there to cover us any time we drank a potion, and her physical attacks felt much stronger than ever before.
Obviously, it had to do with the fact that she wasn’t holding back her demonic energy, but at that moment, she was definitely the strongest person I had ever seen, at least in terms of raw physical strength.
Drakzen was fast, which allowed him to keep up with all of our moves. That is, until I used gravity magic around his position to slow him down.
The devil was not only fast but extremely strong, so even when I used gravity magic that was strong enough to crush the body of the Goblin King, it wasn’t sufficient to halt Drakzen’s movements entirely.
Still, slowing him down was good enough since it made Nessa able to reach him with her explosive attacks while Melina used her estoc to stab the devil even more.
The main problem we had when we stabbed him was that Drakzen could use his own blood as a weapon, so anytime he bled from a new wound, we would all have to get ready to avoid his next attack.
At one point, the blood that came from his wound levitated and gathered in the air, creating what seemed like a red spear, and shot it straight at us.
Surprisingly, even though the blood spear wasn’t big, it created a powerful wake in its trail that knocked down pine trees and raised the ground below it.
The three of us got out of the way just in time and quickly launched ourselves for a counterattack. However, when we got close to Drakzen again, we noticed that all of his wounds were healed.
Even after using excessive amounts of blood to attack us, he could also use it to heal himself.
The fact that devils could heal themselves wasn’t new to me, but I knew that it still weakened them.
It’s not like devils could heal themselves without spending any of their demonic energy, so after he healed a bunch of cuts and stab wounds, we thought that his power would decrease.
Nevertheless, Drakzen kept battling like nothing had even happened to him, making me wonder how much demonic energy he had.
Our battle with Drakzen was the longest I had ever fought anything in this world. It lasted for a few hours, during which we had to keep drinking MP potions and avoid getting killed by him.
Sunset was upon us, and our fight with the devil felt like it was just getting started.
"So, what the hell was your plan in trying to attack the elves?" I asked in a quick moment of respite when none of us was attacking.
"Heh, whatever do you mean?" he asked, acting smugly.
"You know you can’t enter the elves nation. So, what are you even trying to do?" I asked again, sharpening my gaze.
Drakzen chuckled and covered his face as if he was embarrassed. "It’s called a test. I wanted to see if Salamandra was strong enough to take on the elven hunters!" he exclaimed before laughing.
"Soon, my special squad of Accursed Beasts will be complete, so you could say this was a test for Salamandra..." he continued.
"Special squad? How many others are under your control!?" I asked with a bit of frustration.
Salamandra was already a big problem, so knowing that he was planning on making more like it would be disastrous.
"Heh, that’s a secret," he replied.
"There are two more, and two in the making... Am I correct?" said Nessa with confidence, making Drakzen’s smile disappear.
"As expected from a traitor. I’ll do our Lord a favor and end you..." the devil muttered.
As the blood scattered on the battlefield from his previous attacks rose from the ground and gathered in the air once again, Drakzen pointed at it with his finger, causing the large blob to explode, creating a rain of blood daggers.
Nonetheless, Melina had raised an earth dome around her and Nessa that protected them from the attack while I used ice magic to cover myself.
Our exchange with Drakzen continued for even longer until nighttime arrived, and the battlefield got much darker.
’We can’t let this guy escape from us again...’ I thought, but my inner monologue was interrupted when I noticed the moon in the sky.
"Was there supposed to be a full moon tonight?" I pondered aloud.
For whatever reason, my comment made Nessa, Melina, and even Drakzen look up at the sky with curiosity.
Suddenly, we heard a loud explosion, and the air around us felt extremely heavy, making the four of us widen our eyes in shock.
’Did Drakzen do something?’ I wondered as I looked at him, but seeing his surprised expression made me think otherwise.
As if we were both thinking the same thing, Drakzen and I flew up momentarily and spotted a beam of blue light that shot up to the sky near the area where Salamandra and my companions were fighting.
’This presence... What the hell is happening!?’
