Right after Yoru accepted Garon’s deal, the magic circles glowed brightly enough that Vespera covered her eyes.

When she recovered from the light, she found herself back in the Lunar Forest in front of the two greater demons as if nothing had happened. However, the intense and powerful presence that appeared couldn’t be ignored.

Turning her head in the direction where Yoru was fighting Salamandra, she noticed the massive beam of blue light that shot up to the sky, followed by an explosion that shook the ground.

Using her spiderwebs to hold back the demons for a brief moment, she quickly made her way to Yoru’s location, feeling somewhat worried for her friend.

However, when she arrived, she saw a new man with wolf ears and a tail standing in front of Salamandra.

He had long, black, spiky hair that reached his lower back. Runic, blue, glowing tattoos covered his arms and the side of his torso, which was fully uncovered as he wasn’t wearing a shirt.

"Yoru...?" Vespera asked, making the black-haired man turn his head.

After using her "inspect" spell on the man, Vespera confirmed that it was her friend, who had just evolved into a Legendary Beast.

She noticed that he had also received the skill of "martial arts," which she attributed to their contract with Ichiro, as most of his knowledge was shared with his companions.

"You got this?" Vespera asked her friend, to which he only replied with a nod.

When Yoru’s humanoid form glanced back at Salamandra, he was frozen in place, fearing his new transformation.

The Accursed Beast knew that he could beat any other monster below his rank, but Legendary Beasts were supposed to be their equal, making him somewhat nervous.

Salamandra didn’t even blink and kept his peeled and focused on Yoru. Still, he wasn’t able to see the humanoid wolf suddenly appearing beside him and kicking him in the face.

With his legs coated in lunar magic, the kick briefly seared Salamandra’s cheek before he was pushed into a pine tree, leaving a gaping wound on his face.

At the same time, Vespera turned around to keep the two greater demons in check, leaving the Accursed Beast’s fate to her friend.

In a fit of anger, Salamandra started casting his fire magic all around him, not aiming for anyone in particular.

While some of the attacks reached Yoru’s position, he calmly dodged them as he approached his opponent.

When he clenched his fists, Yoru’s arm was completely covered in shadows, making it look like a large hand with black claws.

Salamandra panicked and shot a fire beam from both of his palms. Nonetheless, Yoru had weaved through the shadows to avoid it and appeared behind him. Using his shadowy arm, Yoru sliced off Salamandra’s left arm.

Instantly reacting to the attack, the Accursed Beast surrounded himself in a dome of flames that covered at least ten meters in diameter from his position, vaporizing everything around him.

"Why...?" Salamandra muttered.

"Why did you evolve now!?" he continued, his voice laced with desperation.

Yoru didn’t reply, not because he didn’t have anything to say, but because he wasn’t used to talking and simply stared at his opponent with contempt.

"I see. Garon is going to keep playing favorites, huh!?" Salamandra exclaimed, his voice sounding more deranged by the moment.

With the moonlight illuminating the scorched battlefield in the Lunar Forest, Yoru launched himself back at Salamandra. The wake of their attacks knocked the trees around them and echoed throughout the woods.

Salamandra had lost an arm, but his concentration and power kept growing as time passed until, eventually, he extended his right stub and showcased his regeneration skills.

"Hah, see that!? This is real power! I am basically immortal, you understand now!?" the Accursed Beast yelled proudly.

However, Yoru knew that he wasn’t immortal. Thanks to the countless demonic monsters that he and Ichiro had to hunt down, Yoru was aware of the secrets of the Accursed Beasts.

If he destroyed the core situated somewhere inside his body, then he wouldn’t be able to regenerate.

Before Salamandra launched himself at Yoru with his flaming fists, the humanoid wolf closed his eyes, absorbing all of the lunar energy that shrouded the forest.

In the blink of an eye, his energy increased severely as his "moon buff" skill began to take action, and just as Salamandra was about to lay his hands on him, he disappeared from his spot.

’Wha-? So fast!’ Salamandra thought but was interrupted by a sudden burst of pain rushing from his back.

Turning his head slightly, he noticed Yoru’s shadowy claws going through his chest as the wolf had stabbed him from the back.

Then, leaving him no room to defend himself, Yoru ripped a piece of his torso as he forcefully waved his claws to one side.

Salamandra covered himself in fire, slightly burning Yoru before he could step back from danger.

Seeing that the lizard was healing the torn side of his body, Yoru understood that the core wasn’t there and decided to aim for a different body part.

Salamandra was reaching his limits, but the overflowing lunar energy coursing through Yoru kept his body light and strong.

Using all of his remaining power, Salamandra conjured giant flaming hands that came out from the ground, scorching and vaporizing anything it made contact with.

Simultaneously, Yoru covered his entire body with lunar energy while his right arm was shrouded in shadows, and rushed straight ahead at the two giant fire arms.

"Got you!" Salamandra exclaimed as his spell made contact with Yoru.

Nonetheless, the fiery arms began to distort, confusing the Accursed Beast. Still, he couldn’t think of a new strategy as he saw Yoru’s energy dispersing the giant flaming arms into thin air.

Leaving him utterly open with no more power to protect himself, Salamandra found himself with his head in the clutches of Yoru’s shadowy claw hand before getting knocked to the ground.

From the small gap between Yoru’s fingers, Salamandra saw the eyes of the small wolf he had tried hunting years ago, holding him down like helpless prey.

’In the end. I was the one who was hunted... eh, little wolf?’ he thought as his head was squished, destroying his demonic core and ending his life.
