My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World -
Chapter 251: Impulsivity
Chapter 251: Impulsivity
The following morning, my group had breakfast with Aiwin and Eve at the castle in Eldariel’s capital when we were interrupted by Aimar.
The butler walked in, wearing his new glasses with a smile on his face, and asked if I had some time to spare.
Truthfully, I didn’t have that much time to spare since I was planning on going to the Lunar Forest to look for Salamandra and Drakzen, but I also didn’t want to turn him down.
Aimar asked everyone present to follow him, including the chief and Eve, and guided us to the main entrance of the castle, where a group of elves were gathered.
"Sir Ichiro, these are all the elves in the capital with cursed eyesight..." the butler said.
It was a group of at least twenty elves, and they believed that their eyesight problems were a curse.
’Hmm, I don’t think it’s a curse. If it were, my holy panacea would have worked...’ I thought.
When I first made the lenses for Aimar, I asked him to try the holy panacea to see if it worked. It didn’t, which was pretty surprising.
I had never had my holy panacea fail to cure something, but that also made me understand that their eyesight problems were hereditary conditions that couldn’t really be healed with alchemy.
"Umm, give me a few hours, and we’ll go to the forest..." I said to my group, who didn’t seem to mind the wait.
As the elves went one by one to take the eyesight test that I had prepared the previous night, I kept making and adjusting lenses for them.
Melina watched me work intently without saying a word. After a couple of elves received their glasses and left with smiles on their faces, she offered her help.
While I tested the patients and made the lenses, she created all of the iron frames, which saved us some time.
It took us a few hours to treat everyone, and when I turned to check on the rest of my group, I noticed Nessa was sweating and looked really bad, almost as if she had a fever.
"Nessa, are you okay!?" I exclaimed.
"I’m... holding..." she said, struggling to get the words out.
"Chief, we’ll be back later!" I shouted.
Right at that moment, my team understood what was happening and quickly gathered around me so I could teleport us outside the veil.
It was a long teleport, but it wasn’t the longest I had done before.
As soon as we appeared on the other side of the veil, I drank an MP potion, and Nessa released all of her pent-up demonic energy, making the ground shake momentarily.
Her horns were now visible along with her fangs, and her eye color changed slightly. Still, everyone in the group was already used to seeing her in that form.
"Feeling better?" Melina asked.
"Yeah, much better..." Nessa replied with relief.
"So, how does Drakzen control your energy, exactly?" I followed.
"One of Drakzen’s abilities is being able to increase another devil’s energy output..." she explained.
Basically, Drakzen could buff up other devils and temporarily increase their powers. However, when he did this to Nessa, who was trying to hide it, it was too overwhelming for her to hold back.
I used my "search" spell to see if there was anything around us, but I couldn’t sense any dangerous presence nearby.
"How did he target you from outside the veil?" I pondered out loud.
"He didn’t. He must have used his powers right before we went in..." Nessa replied.
"I see. So that presence we felt when we entered was him," I said.
’Good thing I muted ourselves when saying the password...’
Suddenly, just as my "search" spell picked up something not too far from us, Yoru got out of my shadow and started growling angrily.
"Salamandra must be close. Everyone, focus and follow Yoru!" I exclaimed.
As my companion used his air walk to avoid the trees and obstacles in the forest, the rest of us flew behind him, ready to take down the Accursed Beast.
When we arrived at the location, we saw the same man from before, with long, dark green hair and yellow lizard eyes, standing before a pair of dead lions that were burnt to death.
Before Yoru could crash down impulsively again, I asked him to wait a moment so that we could come up with a strategy and finish it quickly.
"No, you won’t..." A deep voice said from behind us, giving me goosebumps that ran through my spine.
Still suspended high up in the air, we quickly turned around and found Drakzen flying right next to us with a sly smile on his face.
"You..." I muttered while clenching my teeth.
"Hey, it’s not nice to gang up on my beast. I worked hard to get him to that point, you know?" Drakzen mockingly said.
Without thinking twice, I used lightning magic to propel my movement and kicked Drakzen in the stomach, sending him flying down to the ground.
’I guess it’s my turn to be impulsive...’
As the devil crashed down and raised a cloud of dust and dirt, I pulled out my adamantite sword and launched myself at high speeds toward him.
"Ichiro!" Melina shouted, but I had my eyes set on Drakzen.
I felt the rest of my companions were attacking Salamandra, which reassured me a little since he wouldn’t be interrupting my fight with Drakzen.
The devil was completely unscathed from my attack, but I didn’t really expect to do much damage with it.
I already knew that Drakzen was strong. I mean, he was able to fight three sages at the same time when he interrupted our test in Sephyr, so there was no denying his strength.
However, we also weren’t using our full powers, so I wasn’t sure how much stronger he could get.
"How rude. I thought we could talk this out..." Drakzen said, shaking the dirt off his black robe.
"Nah, I’ll show something even more rude..." I replied, pulling out my magic bo and preparing myself.
