My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World -
Chapter 238: Intercontinental Teleportation
Chapter 238: Intercontinental Teleportation
The day for us to leave for Kyotora had arrived, and our travel group was quite large.
Besides Melina and I, we had my two companions, the two battle-maids, and Nessa.
The plan was to take Yuki and her family to Kyotora with the magic quartz and make our way south from there, but only after picking up more of the mineral to have more teleporters around.
We met with them at the Sephyr’s castle, which was where I left the magic quartz for safekeeping, and brought everyone to the small hut that Melina and I built on the outskirts of the capital.
Yuki and her family were impressed at the fact that they traveled continents in less than a second, and I couldn’t blame them for it as it was pretty impressive, even for me.
Seeing that we had built our hut atop a hill that was almost impossible to climb up or down, we gave the family a ride and flew them to the palace.
When we arrived, we were met by Sage Lang, who said he felt something approaching and knew it would be us.
Ever since the world tournament ended, Lang had been working with the king to improve the lifestyle of their citizens.
However, his words made me believe that he was trying to redirect my attention to a problem that their country didn’t really suffer from.
I mean, life in Kyotora could have been better, but compared to some other nations, they were doing pretty well.
Their main problem was that the crown prince wasn’t fit to be the ruler, and his parents encouraged his behavior.
When I asked him how Takeo was doing, Lang looked more reserved and explained that they were trying to re-educate him, but it was to no avail.
A few moments later, he took us to the king’s throne room along with Yuki and her mother, where Hiroshi had been waiting for us.
After he said a few words about how proud he was of Yuki, he expressed his opinion on having her as the primary candidate for the throne.
It seemed that after the tournament, the king started paying closer attention to Takeo’s antics and realized how much he was abusing his power.
He was sent to a re-education camp with some mages, but their reports said that Prince Takeo wasn’t making any progress on correcting his problematic behavior.
The king was telling me all this secret information because I threatened them the last time I was there, saying that I wanted to see real change in their country or we would end our relations with them.
Basically, he was giving me a briefing to keep me informed, which was nice of them.
After his summary was over, I moved on to the main topic we wanted to discuss and told them that we needed a large number of magic quartz.
We were trying to connect every country in the world, and these magic quartz were our first step towards it.
Now that we knew they worked and they could teleport people as far as reaching another continent, the next step was to place them everywhere we could.
In Sephyr, King Leon started the construction of a new chamber inside his castle that he called the "Quartz Room."
In that room, he would place all of the different magic quartz that we would eventually create and be able to travel to any country in an instant.
However, the only crystal they could place inside the quartz room at the moment was the one leading to Kyotora, and it wouldn’t leave them in a good spot since we set the crystal atop a hill.
"We are planning on traveling from here to Balinesia, so if we could have some of the magic quartz, we could start connecting the eastern continent..." I elaborated.
After listening to my entire plan, Sage Lang and King Hiroshi stayed silent for a moment. Their eyes widened with curiosity.
It was a no-brainer for them. Magic quartz was abundant in Kyotora, and if they could be the one to supply the main material that would eventually connect the world, they couldn’t say no.
Sage Lang took us to a warehouse and asked us to take as many magic quartz as we needed, so we took a lot, and I mean A LOT.
We could have built a mansion solely of magic quartz with the amount that we had, but we thought it would be better if we had leftover material than running out of it while in some other distant nation.
That same day, we said our goodbyes to Yuki, who kept thanking us for all of our help, along with her mother.
"We’ll see each other again soon..." Melina said as she hugged her friend, holding back their tears.
Our next destination was south, so we asked Yuki about the closest towns to the Guanghua border.
Of course, she showed a bit of concern about us going there but still marked a few towns on our map.
Before leaving, we left another magic quartz in Kyotora’s castle and attuned it to one in our void pockets. That way, we would be able to return there from anywhere in case of emergencies.
One small problem that we had was that Nessa couldn’t fly like us. Even if we added enchantments to her clothing, they had to be activated with MP.
Nessa was a devil, so her MP was replaced by demonic energy, which didn’t work on activating the enchantments.
Still, she was so light that Vespera offered to carry her on her back while flying, and the problem was instantly solved.
After flying for four hours, nighttime fell upon us, and we reached a small river town called "Kawabe."
The place had a really peaceful atmosphere. Compared to the capital, which was bustling with people, Kawabe was wholly serene.
The only inn they had in town was so small that our entire group of seven was enough to fill up all their rooms. Luckily, we were staying only for one night.
I was sharing a room with Melina and my companions. The battle-maids had theirs, and Nessa got one for herself. However, she said she didn’t want to be alone and ended up sharing the room with us.
I didn’t care, but I thought it was funny every time Nessa acted like that. She was a devil, after all.
’At this pace, we’ll make it to Guanghua in one or two days...’ I thought as I lay in bed.
