Chapter 202: Worst Possible Outcome

After I sent a message to my companions and Melina, asking them to check on the other teams, an overpowering presence appeared close to my location.

However, the energy that I felt wasn’t the usual MP that came from people, but it was demonic energy.

’I can recognize that awful feeling from miles away now...’ I thought.

When a devil was close to me, it was as if my body felt shivers and nausea at the same time, which made it somewhat hard to move until my body got used to it.

Finally able to turn around, I spotted a tall man with long black hair and horns standing not too far from me.

I could tell that he was a devil, but his features looked human, which was nothing like Armaros and Zagor, who looked like creatures people would see in their nightmares.

His eyes were completely white, and he had a pale complexion that made the contrast with his black hair and clothing much more pronounced.

"Professor!" Keiko shouted, bringing me out of the trance that had me immobilized.

Before the strange devil could do anything, I launched myself at full speed to the carriage where the four students were and placed my palm against it.

"Tell the headmaster we got a huge problem..." I said, casting a gravity enchantment on the cart and making it float.

The students were startled at the sudden movements of the carriage, but I couldn’t teleport them to the academy and return to face a devil since that would spend a lot of my MP.

The best I could do for them was make the carriage fly so they could go back to the academy as quickly as possible and tell the headmaster of the situation.

"Use magic to propel the cart quickly!" I yelled at the students with determination.

Without overthinking, Florencia and Enzo began casting wind magic, launching the carriage away into the sky towards the academy.

’Mhmm, extra points for those two...’ I thought as I calmly looked back at the devil, who hadn’t moved a muscle since his arrival.

"Now, who the hell are you?" I asked the creature with a severe expression.

The devil chuckled with a deep tone of voice. "I see. You were prioritizing those kids..." he said, sending shivers down my spine.

Somehow, the energy this devil extruded was a lot more powerful than Zagor’s, making it difficult even to breathe.

"Nah. My priority is you right now..." I replied, trying to throw him off from targeting my students.

The devil laughed again. "The feeling is mutual. I have no interest in chasing those children..." he said with a snide smile.

"Did you send those werewolves to attack our groups too?" I asked, keeping a sharp gaze on the devil.

"Well, I was simply curious..." he replied mockingly.

"They call me the traveling devil or Drakzen. I’ve been wanting to meet the person who killed Zagor, but I gotta say, I’m quite disappointed..."

’Drakzen... I’ve heard about him from Jackson. Wasn’t this the devil sent to wander the world in search of magical artifacts?’ I pondered, not moving my gaze away from him for a second.

"Don’t mind the werewolves. Those were mere failed experiments..." Drakzen continued.

I wanted to move and attack the devil. I really did. However, his aura was so imposing and heavy that it genuinely made it challenging to do any sort of rash movement.

Calmly, I focused on covering my body with my MP as a way to decrease the effects of his aura on me and stood straight before Drakzen.

"How did you even know Zagor is dead?" I kept asking, now with my composure collected.

"Ha! Did you think we were that stupid?" the devil replied sarcastically.

"Zagor was merely a wall of muscles for us. If you thought that by defeating him, you could take on the others... Well, I think I should make you learn your place." Drakzen muttered.

In the blink of an eye, the devil took a step and appeared before me as if he had skipped the distance between us.

I quickly jumped back with my bo in hand, but Drakzen appeared before me again with a charged fist, hitting me in the stomach and sending me flying back into a few trees that I demolished with the impact of my body.

’He is fast, but he isn’t as strong as Zagor...’ I thought as I stood up and wiped the blood coming out of my mouth with the back of my hand.

To me, Drakzen’s punch felt like I was being hit by a baseball bat or something similar. However, Zagor’s punches felt like I was getting hit by a truck, so the difference in raw strength was evident.

Still, Drakzen was so fast that only my eyes could keep up with his movement, but my body wouldn’t react quickly enough to protect me from his offensive.

As soon as I stood straight up again, the devil appeared next to me and hit me in the face with a side-kick that pushed me onto another set of trees.

’Alright, enough...’ I thought as I started casting lightning magic around me to increase my movement speed.

Once again, Drakzen tried to strike me the moment I stood up from the ground, but having my body laced with lightning allowed me to move out of the way and counter with a lightning bolt.

The devil dodged the lightning, which was impressive, and kept going on the offensive.

Luckily, I was starting to keep up with his speed thanks to the lightning magic that was boosting my speed significantly.

’Man... This is probably the worst outcome we could have had on this test...’ I thought.

With Drakzen coming towards me for another attack, the devil’s movements were suddenly halted by a fire laser that appeared out of nowhere. Nonetheless, I could recognize that MP anywhere.

"Mel!" I exclaimed, noticing that the princess had arrived to back me up.

She cast a fire laser from far away and still managed to make Drakzen raise his forearm to block it, leaving an opening for me to punch him in the gut with a fist fully charged with electricity.

The devil coughed blood and was pushed back into a massive rock that was half-demolished by his body. Still, he simply stood up and chuckled, making Melina and I nervously tense our bodies.
