My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World
Chapter 201: Blood Werewolf

Chapter 201: Blood Werewolf

’What the hell is this monster doing here?’ I thought as I stared at the "blood werewolf" before me, standing at about seven feet tall.

My companions told me telepathically that the other groups were also getting attacked by the same type of monster, which led me to believe that it was an orchestrated attack.

I doubted that the creatures were smart enough to know the different roads that the students were taking to split accordingly, so I tried keeping an eye out for another presence other than the werewolf.

As I kept pondering different options, I briefly turned my head to make sure that my team of students got inside the cart. However, that second was enough for the werewolf to appear right next to me.

The creature went for a strike with his claws, and even though I was somewhat distracted, I managed to place my bo horizontally and blocked his attack, which forcefully pushed the monster’s arm back.

With ample space for a counterattack, I maneuvered the bo around and hit the werewolf on the ribs, pushing it back a few meters away from me.

My bo was now made from the bark of the arcana trees, which was immune to physical attacks, so the werewolf wouldn’t be able to land a hit. As long as I kept blocking, his attacks would only get forcefully deflected.

The werewolf howled loudly, making the students inside the cart cover their ears as we felt the sound reverberating in our bodies.

With the snap of my fingers, I removed the sound waves around the monster’s area, silencing his deafening howl and letting out a sigh of relief.

However, the werewolf only got more desperate after seeing that its voice had been cut off, jumping at me in a deranged manner.

"Attacking me without thinking... That won’t end well for you." I muttered, using my bo to block his attack, which was deflected with force and struck his face at full strength.

The werewolf was bleeding from its mouth, and seeing that it stopped its movements for a moment, I unsheathed my mithril dagger and ran at the monster with the intention of finishing it off.

Still, before I could get close, I saw the blood that dripped down its mouth stop flowing, making the droplets of blood float in the air momentarily.

’Huh?’ I thought, but I didn’t even have a second to judge what was happening when the drops shot at me like bullets.

I spun my bo in front of me and managed to deflect some of the droplets, but I still got hit by three of them—one on the shoulder and two on my right leg.

If my body weren’t as durable as it was, those droplets would have gone through. And while they didn’t even reach my bone, it was enough for a small trail of blood to drip out the wounds.

"Professor!" Florencia shouted from the carriage.

’Oh, right. The students are watching...’ I thought.

Nonetheless, before I could do anything to show off, I saw that the werewolf raised its hand calmly to the side.

’Is the monster smiling!?’ I wondered, seeing the creature clearly snickering before clenching his fist tightly.

At that moment, the trails of blood that were flowing out of my wounds hardened like glass, stabbing my leg and shoulder again.

That was the blood magic that I read in the inspection of the monster, but I didn’t know the creature would be able to control my own blood, too.

The droplets that hit me didn’t hurt that bad, but now I had red crystals made with my own blood, painfully stabbing my leg and shoulder.

The students started shouting with concern, making the werewolf turn its attention to them for a moment.

However, seeing his interest in my students made me extremely angry, and before the creature could launch itself toward the carriage, I released my MP forcefully to intimidate the monster.

The werewolf stopped in its tracks and looked back at me, extruding energy from my body, laced with anger.

I grabbed the crystal that was stuck to my shoulder and squeezed it tightly, shattering it into sparkling dust that would have made anyone utterly unaware that it was my crystalized blood.

Then, I opened my void pocket and took the adamantite short sword that Empress Lysandra gifted me.

I hadn’t used it against any monster before, but I felt like this was the best moment to test it out.

Contrary to mithril, adamantite was a highly magical conductive material, meaning that it would increase the magical output.

As I infused fire magic into it, the dark green double-edged blade started to get red-hot as if it had been inside a furnace for hours. Then, it lit ablaze, making it look like the sword was made of pure fire.

The shortsword got longer with the fire, almost resembling a katana wholly made of flames that scorched the ground around me.

With desperation and rage, the werewolf launched itself at me while casting blood magic on my wounds while I approached him with my flaming blade.

As new blood crystals materialized on my body and stabbed me once again, I endured the pain and sliced diagonally, expecting to burn the werewolf and send him flying back.

However, the wave of fire ended up cutting the monster in half, killing it instantly and traveling forward, taking down a few trees that were behind the werewolf.

’That was way more powerful than I expected...’ I thought as I reduced the MP fused into the blade, turning it back into its short double-edged sword.

Right at that moment, I sent a message to my companions telepathically, telling them to finish off the monsters on their side and run to support the other teams.

There were eight teams in total, and I knew that at least four of them would be fine since Yoru, Vespera, Melina, and I were protecting them, but there were four other teams that could use our assistance.

My companions understood my command, and I grabbed my voice crystal to send a message to Melina, asking her to do the same and to check on another team.

Melina was a student, so technically, she was being tested. However, this was not part of the exam, and it was actually dangerous for the students to be facing these monsters.

At the end of the day, Melina was also a sage, and I trusted that she could take care of these werewolves without much trouble.

Still, right after I sent the message and was about to fly to help another team, I felt an extremely dangerous presence approaching me, which made me widen my eyes and freeze in fear.
