My Mansion of Gorgeous Maids in Another World -
Chapter 41: Told you
Chapter 41: Told you
Do the nobles really plan to ignore the monster flood? Jett stared flatly at the fairy. Yeah, that’s never worked out well.
It wasn’t hard for Jett to picture nobles who believed commoners had no place in the world.
He’d grown up manaless, hearing plenty that made him wonder if there was any place for him at all. That doubt had pushed him to seize a chance to change, and that second chance now bound him to the common folk—and to seeing this monster flood through to the end.
"So whose turf is Artemis Forest on?" Jett asked.
"Uhhh, I think it’s the Mist Cloud Dukedom!" She fluttered in a tight circle.
"Where’s the heart of your forest?" he continued.
She crossed her arms and proudly puffed out her generous chest. "Okey‑dokey! Only a fairy like me can zip you to our forest’s heart—it’s hiding in another dimension! Follow me, follow me!"
"Hold up. I still need to hear from the commoners traveling with us," Jett said, shaking his head.
As the fairy fidgeted with impatience, Jett returned to the carriage. The villagers had already reached a decision, and—unsurprisingly—Roberto acted as their spokesman.
Roberto bowed. "We’d like to keep journeying with you, my lord."
"Fine." Jett nodded. "Got any intel on the Mist Cloud Dukedom?"
Roberto scratched at his hair. The other villagers dropped their gazes, clearly reluctant to speak about the Dukedom.
He swallowed his pride. "We pay taxes to Mist Cloud, but we’re not... connected. Long ago, our forebears were offered the chance to assimilate into Mist Cloud culture, but every attempt failed. Since then, fewer villagers get to study abroad, and we’re confined to our poor homes."
He kept that from me out of shame. Withholding useful information costs trust. I’ll drop them off at the first safe chance.
Jett exhaled through his nose.
Now that the fairy was firmly on his hook, the villagers’ value had plummeted. He didn’t need to flaunt power to them when he could amuse himself with the fairy’s mercurial personality. Still, he intended to get them to safety.
Leaving the carriage for now, Jett swung onto one of the Dark Ink Steeds. Mia and Noctlisa mounted beside him. Eyes shining with curiosity, the fairy buzzed over to the last vacant horse and peered at Jett.
"Can I ride too?!" she squeaked.
Jett smirked. "You’re so tiny you’d bounce off like a cork at the first gallop. Sit with me."
She puffed her cheeks. "I am not that small and weak! I can totally fight, you know?! But—fine—I’ll enjoy the safe seat like everyone else!"
Noctlisa shot the fairy a furtive look.
Mia’s voice was cool. "Should you show one ounce of ingratitude while seated with Master Talon, I shall personally chasten you afterward."
Jett laughed. "Easy, Mia."
"It’s just a ride!" the fairy chirped, wriggling to get comfortable as she settled in front of him.
Her tiny fingers curled into the horse’s mane. Jett looped his right arm around her slim waist like a belt and smirked. Mia spotted the grin and turned away, jealous.
At Jett’s signal, the steeds surged forward, the carriage rattling behind them.
The wind howled past, slicking everyone’s hair flat.
With each bounding stride, the fairy’s plush tits jounced in a warm, pillowy rhythm against Jett’s forearm, their supple weight sharpening his smirk.
Mia clenched her reins, jealousy prickling beneath her flawless poise.
"See? Told you," Jett murmured, breathing in the fairy’s sweet scent.
"Yes! You were super right! Hold me tighter!" she squealed.
"With pleasure," he chuckled.
...
Soon they were deep in the forest. The fairy’s chatter and the thick mist uncoiling from the trees confirmed it. Humid air left everyone damp.
"’Cause most folks get all woozy‑woozy in mega‑mist, our forest totally cranked the mist maker way down!" the fairy chirped.
"If my name gets carved on the Sentinel, I’ll never be lost, right?" Jett asked.
"Yep! We’re close to the dimensional border! Uh—your carriage can’t enter, though!"
"You think so?"
She nodded vigorously. "Yep! It’s foreign craft. The dimension rejects it to keep our lands scar‑free and safe!"
Jett only shrugged. "We’ll see."
Moments later the fairy darted ahead and vanished into the mist.
A cool, loamy scent washed over the party as the air seemed to lighten; the ground sprang softly beneath their boots, and distant bioluminescent vines hummed like muted harp strings. Emerald‑gold light flared, parting the fog like gates to another world.
"You can enter now!" the fairy’s voice boomed from the other side.
Jett urged the steeds forward. He, his maids, and the villagers passed through the radiance, and—astonishingly—the massive mansion‑carriage rolled in right behind them.
On the other side, rain fell in silvery sheets, plastering the fairy’s hair to her face as she stared in shock. "How did our dimension accept your craft?!"
Jett chuckled. "Told you."
He looked ahead and drew a deep breath. The forest spilled downward in tiered steps, every tree exhaling hot mist that warmed the air. But the unending rain thickened that vapor, drowning the valleys in a cloying fog.
The fairy coughed. "Why’s it raining?"
"Feel weird to you?" Jett asked.
"It totally is! The air’s so heavy—I can barely breathe!" she wheezed, covering her mouth with both hands.
Jett narrowed his eyes. Theoretically, those lizard‑folk could thrive in this damp. Constant rain would boost their drowning skill... and threaten the Sentinel—if they’re here.
"You think the Sentinel’s under attack?" he asked.
The fairy blanched, gasped, and whirled away, zipping toward the green valley, her wings buzzing faster than a swarm of bees.
Jett clicked his tongue and eyed the drop. "That’s one nasty slope. Mana’s topped up, but I’m not torching it just to go downhill."
Noctlisa dipped her head. "Aye, Master—your Dark Ink Steeds can thunder down ground this steep. Don’t go belittling them."
Behind her, the four boys wheezed.
Jett chuckled. "Right—you lads smashed those lizards no problem. Take me to the forest’s heart—nah, scratch that. We’ll tail the fairy. After the treat she gave me, I’m honor‑bound to keep her safe while I’m here."
The boys wheezed louder.
