Chapter 130 Risk

Chapter 130: Chapter 130 Risk

Adrian was exhausted the moment he stepped inside. His shoulders sagged slightly, and his eyes instinctively flicked toward Ruby.

The second their gazes met, he quickly looked away, brushing a hand through his hair as if that could shake off the awkwardness. Without saying much, he headed straight for the washroom.

The door clicked shut behind him, and for a long moment, Adrian just stood there, staring at his reflection. He looked as tired as he felt. His eyes were dull.

With a soft sigh, he turned on the tap, letting cold water pool in his hands before splashing it over his face. The cold water helped him feel more calm, making his chest feel less heavy.

He stayed like that for a few moments, gripping the edge of the sink, head bowed.

That was until his stomach growled, loud enough to echo faintly in the small space.

Adrian frowned, rubbing his temple. "Great," he muttered under his breath.

Even though he was used to dealing with stress, this time felt different. His head throbbed constantly, a dull ache that never fully went away, making everything feel heavier. His body felt drained, as if all his energy had been slowly leaking out without him realizing it.

Since he started working at the company, he felt more tired than ever.

Some days, the tiredness hit so hard that he felt dizzy, and his vision blurred for a few seconds as he tried to stay steady. It didn’t just happen once or twice – it happened several times a day. His body begged for rest, but he kept going, not wanting to fall behind. Even when the room felt like it was spinning, he forced himself to stay focused.

He sighed and walked out of the washroom. When he came out, he saw that Karl had heated food for him.

Without a word, he sat down at the dining table, the warm steam rising from the food making his stomach growl in anticipation. The first bite felt like a relief, the kind that settled deep in his chest.

After finishing the warm meal, his stomach finally felt comfortable and full.

Adrian and Ruby didn’t exchange a single word that evening.

As the night settled in, the kitchen filled with soft sounds, Julian and Milo moving quietly as they prepared dinner. The clatter of plates and the soft bubbling of a pot were the only things breaking the silence.

The day had slipped by, leaving Ruby drained. The moment her head hit the pillow, she hoped for rest, but sleep wouldn’t come.

Her hands throbbed, red and sore from hours of sewing. Each stitch had been done by hand, and now the pain pulsed with every small movement. She shouldn’t have taken on all the sewing herself. Ruby knew that. But even so, she did.

Lying flat, her gaze fixed on the ceiling. Her eyes stayed open, unblinking as thoughts pressed in.

Then, out of nowhere, an idea appeared, She sat up quickly, the blanket sliding down to her lap. It was risky, maybe even dangerous.

If she wanted to level up, she had to take risks. Wasn’t it because she pushed herself into that land driving competition that she walked away with the prize money?

Everything Ruby had ever gained came from the risks she dared to take. Nothing in her life had come easy.

So now, as this idea rooted itself in her mind—one that carried danger and uncertainty, maybe it was meant for her. Maybe this was just another step in the path she was meant to walk.

From what Ruby had seen in her life, taking risks always led her to success. It wasn’t luck or coincidence—she had learned that some things only come to those willing to step out of line and grab them.

She believed everyone should try to notice what works for them. Some people found their way through careful planning, but for Ruby, it was the gamble, the thrill of stepping into the unknown, that opened doors.

And maybe, just maybe, this idea rooting in her mind was the next door waiting to be unlocked.

Ruby closed her eyes, but the flood of thoughts wouldn’t stop. They raced through her mind, one after another, leaving her restless.

Sleep felt distant, almost impossible to reach.

She shifted slightly, trying to calm herself, but the more she tried, the louder her thoughts seemed to grow.

Taking a deep breath, she focused on the rise and fall of her chest. Slowly, she began to gather the loose ends of her mind, pulling them in like threads she was trying to weave into something steady.

And slowly, as her breathing steadied and Ruby’s thoughts began to fade. One by one, they slipped away like leaves floating downstream.

Her body relaxed, sinking deeper into the bed, and before she even realized it, sleep gently pulled her under.

At 6:59 AM, the sun began its slow rise, casting soft golden light across the horizon. The sky stretched clear, with only a few wisps of reddish clouds drifting lazily above Ruby’s house. The air felt crisp, carrying the quiet calm of early morning.

Out on the porch, Julian stood, the sunlight catching in his bright blue hair as he dried it with a towel. The damp strands glistened, reflecting the light in soft flashes. His face was fresh and clean, the cool morning air brushing against his skin.

He had woken up early—earlier than usual. There was something peaceful about mornings like this, where the world felt still, and the day had yet to fully begin.

"Good morning, Julian!" Kenji’s voice rang out from across the way, his hand shooting up in a cheerful wave. His energy was as bright as the morning sun.

Julian glanced over, lowering the towel from his hair. "Good morning, brother Kenji..." he called back, his voice soft but warm. As he smiled, the sunlight seemed to catch the curve of his lips, making his expression even more striking.

Kenji paused for a moment, blinking as if caught off guard. Julian’s smile had that effect, effortless and breathtaking, like the calm after a storm.

Kenji laughed, scratching the back of his head. "You’re up early today!"

Julian simply nodded, his eyes squinting slightly against the light. "Couldn’t sleep in... the morning’s too nice to miss."
