My five ghostly husbands -
Chapter 131 PIC card
Chapter 131: Chapter 131 PIC card
He smiled softly as he took in the peaceful moment.
Suddenly, the faint roar of an Ecto bike echoed in the air as it approached. Both Julian and Kenji turned their heads, watching as a black Ecto bike descended gracefully from the sky.
A witch stood atop it, her long coat fluttering gently as she landed. A bright red cap rested snugly over her dark hair, and she held a brown satchel tightly to her chest. Her sharp eyes scanned the houses as she stepped down, her boots clicking softly against the gravel with each step forward.
"Is this the house of Miss Ruby?" she asked, her voice brisk but polite.
Julian’s brows furrowed slightly as he stepped forward. "Yes..." he replied, unsure why she was looking for Ruby this early.
The witch strode closer to the porch, stopping just a few feet from him. She met Julian’s gaze, her expression calm but unreadable.
"Miss Ruby’s PIC card has arrived," she said, carefully pulling out a sealed envelope from her bag.
"Wait a few minutes, I’ll call my wife," Julian said, his voice quick as he hurried inside.
Julian made his way down the hall, stopping in front of Ruby’s room. He raised his hand and knocked gently. "Wife..." he called softly, tilting his head closer to the door.
Silence.
He knocked again, a little louder this time. "Wife...?"
Still nothing. His brows pulled together, and he bit his lower lip for a moment. Ruby wasn’t the type to sleep through knocks.
Frowning, Julian balled his fist and knocked harder. "WIFE!" he called out, his voice echoing down the hallway.
Ruby woke with a jolt, Julian’s loud voice echoing in her ears. She squinted, feeling the dull throb of a headache forming. With a groan, she pushed back the blankets and stumbled toward the door, swinging it open to find Julian standing there, his arms crossed and his lips pressed into a thin line.
His sharp gaze met hers the moment the door opened.
"What’s wrong?" Ruby asked, yawning as she rubbed her eyes. Her hair was a mess, strands sticking to her face, but she didn’t seem to care.
Julian arched a brow. "I called you so many times, but you didn’t wake up. Your PIC card delivery is here," he said, his voice carrying a trace of annoyance, though the corners of his mouth twitched as if he wanted to smile.
At the mention of the card, Ruby’s drowsiness disappeared. Her eyes widened slightly, and she straightened up, suddenly alert. "It’s here?" Julian nodded.
Ruby quickly ran her fingers through her hair, smoothing it down as she stepped outside. The witch stood calmly on the porch, holding out a small clipboard with a patient look.
"Miss Ruby, please sign here," the witch said, offering a pen.
Ruby nodded, taking the pen and scribbling her signature without hesitation. Once the formalities were done, the witch handed her the envelope.
Ruby took it carefully. Without waiting, she tore it open eagerly, the seal cracking with a soft snap.
Inside, a small, glossy red PIC card slid into her palm. Ruby held it up to the light, tilting it slightly as she examined it. Her new photo stared back at her, though she couldn’t help but feel like the picture made her look too serious and ugly. Below the photo, her name was printed clearly, followed by her birthday and current address. Everything looked correct.
"It’s about time," Ruby muttered with a faint smile, brushing her thumb over the card’s smooth surface.
The witch gave a curt nod, adjusting the strap of her satchel. "If you need anything else, the contact information is in the envelope."
"Thanks," Ruby replied.
As the witch climbed back onto her Ecto bike and took off into the sky, Ruby stood on the porch, the cool morning breeze tugging at her loose hair.
Ruby quickly stepped inside, shutting the door behind her with a quiet click. As she leaned against it for a moment, a strange sense of relief washed over her.
Now that she had the card, she could finally register her business and bring her idea to life, something she couldn’t do without proper identification.
Her mind spun, already mapping out the steps she needed to take next. It won’t be easy, she thought, her brows drawing together. Nothing ever is.
But that had never stopped her before.
Ruby stepped away from the door and crossed the room with quiet determination flickering in her eyes. I’ll give it my all, she told herself.
She was going to use the same brand name from her previous life – ORA. The thought alone brought a spark of excitement. She couldn’t wait to register her business. There was no time to waste. She also needed to create a logo and tagline for her brand.
And for that... she thought with a smirk, I’ll definitely be using the government computer.
She couldn’t wait any longer. Quickly, she ran to her room, grabbed her robe, and headed to wash up.
Just as she turned the washroom, she suddenly crashed into Adrian, who was also on his way to clean up.
They both froze, staring at each other. Adrian’s robe was draped over his arm.
Their eyes met, and for a brief moment, neither of them moved. Adrian’s body tensed, his grip tightening slightly around the fabric in his hand. His gaze, sharp and unreadable, bore into her, making Ruby’s breath catch in her throat.
Swallowing lightly, Ruby straightened, stepping back with a faint nod. "Go ahead," she said softly, forcing a calm tone. "You have work to get to."
Adrian lingered for a second longer, his eyes still fixed on her before he finally stepped past, disappearing into the washroom.
Ruby exhaled quietly, waiting until the door clicked shut behind him.
Ruby walked back to her room, shutting the door softly behind her. She didn’t bother sitting down, there wasn’t time for that. Instead, she grabbed the notebook from her table and flipped it open, leaning against the edge of her bed as she started writing. Her pen moved quickly, almost messily, as she scribbled down every idea that popped into her head.
She knew herself well enough to understand one thing – if she didn’t write them down now, they’d slip away just as easily as they came.
Her brows furrowed slightly, lips pressing together as she paused to think. Tapping the pen lightly against the paper, she stared at the half-finished notes in front of her.
What was that other idea again?
Ruby’s eyes narrowed as she tried to recall, flipping back a few pages to jog her memory.
"Oh, right," she mumbled to herself, quickly jotting it down.
There was something comforting about putting it all on paper, like untangling the knots in her head. The room was quiet except for the faint scratching of her pen.
After she wrote her whole plan she finally felt satisfied and Happy and she Took her robe again and headed toward washroom and she saw Adrian was already done and Milo was cutting vegetables on dining table and she quickly went inside, she first brushed her teeth and then took cold water wash.
After finishing her plan, Ruby leaned back with a satisfied smile.
She closed the notebook, placing it carefully on her desk, and grabbed her robe once more.
As she stepped out of her room, she noticed Adrian was already done. His hair was damp, and he sat quietly at the table, towel draped around his neck. Meanwhile, Milo was at the dining table, cutting vegetables.
Ruby gave them both a quick glance but didn’t linger. Without saying a word, she slipped into the washroom.
The first thing she did was brush her teeth, humming softly to herself as she worked.
After that, she took a deep wash. She lathered her hair with shampoo, letting the rich, pleasant scent fill the air. The fragrance felt comforting, almost refreshing, as she gently massaged it in.
Ruby didn’t rush. She made sure to wash every part of her body carefully.
By the time she was done, her skin felt clean, soft, and warm.
She carefully wiped her body dry and slipped into her robe. As she tied it around her waist, her eyes caught her reflection in the mirror. Her skin seemed to glow, and for a moment, she smiled.
Just like my future, she thought with a small laugh, amused by her own silly ideas. Humming softly to herself, she stepped out of the washroom, feeling refreshed.
"Wife, come have breakfast," Milo called from the dining table.
Ruby walked over and saw a cup of tea and a simple breakfast already set for her. She glanced around, noticing Adrian was nowhere to be found.
He must’ve already left for work, she thought, quietly sitting down and taking a sip of her tea. The warmth spread through her, and for a moment, everything felt peaceful.
"Are you going somewhere, wife?"
