My Dear Duke(BL) -
Chapter 149: Crazy(1)
Chapter 149: Crazy(1)
Felix couldn’t help but steal a few glances at Asher from time to time, feeling disappointed.
Why did Asher ask that?
Why did he act like he had no idea?
Felix hesitated but he couldn’t wait more with his curiosity. So he, in the end, just questioned Asher.
"Asher..."
"Mm?"
"You met Anne, right?"
Felix decided to talk calmly, giving details since Asher can’t guess what he’s talking about. But he really thought Asher knew what he was talking about without giving the details.
"Yeah."
"So...how is it going?"
"...What are you talking about again?"
Asher asked with a frown.
"...Asher, don’t act like you don’t know."
Felix said.
"...Duke. I really have no idea what you’re talking about. Maybe you didn’t tell me about what you said to Miss Anne?"
"...You don’t remember?"
"Remember what, duke?"
Asher was now getting impatient and quite mad. But, so did Felix.
"Yesterday’s incident?"
"Yesterday? What incident?"
"Asher...don’t be like this."
Felix looked at Asher with a helpless expression as he now pleaded.
"Duke, I don’t understand what you-"
"So nothing happened yesterday?!"
Felix asked again for the last time because he really wished Asher wouldn’t be like this.
"You mean anything special? No!"
Asher said angrily after getting impatient with the same question without any explanation.
By this time, both Asher and Felix were frustrated with each other. So from then on they were not just talking but arguing, raising voices at each other.
Asher didn’t understand what the duke was talking about and since he felt grumpy from the morning, he had a very short temper at that moment.
On the other hand, Felix also didn’t understand why Asher seemed to have forgotten everything and it made him feel betrayed.
"Is that so?..."
Felix asked, his fist clenched as he felt upset and kind of betrayed that Asher was so determined nothing happened. This would be how Anne also acts if he were to bring this up to her. Always disregarding him...
But...Why is Asher also doing this?
He was not like that...
He wouldn’t do that...
So, Felix really didn’t want to be upset at Asher. But...
"Duke, if you don’t tell me what you’re talking about, I can’t just guess."
Asher said through his frustration when he saw the duke seemingly angry. He had not seen him angry like this. Especially with him. So...this kind of made Asher disappointed somewhere.
"Yesterday! Tea time! Nala! And that body loving thing! "
Felix couldn’t help but raise his voice a little more when he heard Asher sound so confident. It felt like he was trying to convince him nothing happened. It made Felix really bothered.
Is he...a joke to Everyone?
Even to Asher?
Felix felt really betrayed.
"What are you talking about duke? What time? I have no idea what you’re talking about. But...how do you know about Nala?"
Asher was shocked and through his worry, he got curious. He was sure he didn’t say anything about Nala to the duke.
Putting aside Nala...
What tea time was the duke talking about? The only tea time that came to his mind was the one that the prince invited him to which would be held in two days. But Asher thought it couldn’t be what the duke was talking about. Alas, because he couldn’t make sense of anything the duke said, he wasn’t sure about anything.
And, what was that body loving thing again?
After Asher asked, the silence in the room felt so intense. Asher and Felix stared at each other, Felix’s gaze turning from angry to sad, then clearly disappointed.
"We had tea together yesterday."
"No duke. We didn’t have tea together. We..."
Asher suddenly paused, then continued again, confident they didn’t as he thought about it again.
"I am sure we didn’t have tea. It was just a very normal day."
Asher said.
"...So you don’t remember? Is that what you’re saying?"
"I didn’t forget anything duke. There was nothing special that I had to keep in mind. Alas, I even asked you this morning if we forgot something. But you yourself said there was nothing. So what is this?"
"I didn’t ask you such a thing."
Felix said.
"You asked. In the morning. Before you scared the shit out of sleeping like dead! We talked! We even laughed talking about damn mosquitoes! So what are you talking about just now?!"
Asher snapped and screamed at the duke, feeling overwhelmed.
"It was not today!"
Felix also screamed back.
"It is! For god’s sake! Don’t tell me you don’t remember well, duke?"
Asher asked and Felix shook his head, trying to convince Asher it was not today.
"...I am sure it’s not today."
"Duke, think carefully. It’s today. This morning, before you fell asleep, I had to call sir Lucas."
"...Asher...It’s not."
"Duke, then what do you think happened this morning?"
"We...just woke up?"
"Then?"
"Went to work."
"Who?"
"Me-?"
The duke said but immediately paused as he realised what was wrong with the events he was saying.
"You didn’t even get off the bed. So how did you go to work? Duke...first clam down and tell me what’s bothering you. We must call Sir Lucas. Your memory is very wrong."
"...So...you’re telling me I didn’t argue with Anne yesterday? And nothing stressful happened yesterday?"
"No duke..."
"Asher...please don’t lie..."
Felix felt his throat burn and his eyes well up with tears as he didn’t believe he had a wrong memory. He had never been like that. He always had a clear memory.
But...he indeed couldn’t recall that morning’s events which now made him doubt himself.
Did he perhaps hallucinate that ’yesterday’?
Or...was he in a very realistic dream and that’s why he couldn’t wake up?
But...
Out of all those worries and suspicions Felix had...he couldn’t shake off that one thought.
’Am I going crazy?’
Felix recalled how his mother also screamed and told things that never happened. And, she also supposedly heard voices in her head. She was so convinced someone talked to her even when she was all alone in the room. Along with that, she was so convinced everything she had in her mind were true. Just like how he did just moments ago...
Is this the beginning of him turning crazy like his mother?
Felix couldn’t see or even think anything else apart from it.
He was convinced.
He is going crazy, just like his mother.
So, it’s safe to say, he was terrified.
