My Dear Duke(BL) -
Chapter 137: Tea Time(4)
Chapter 137: Tea Time(4)
Nala accepted her defeat.
Asher wasn’t so dumb as she thought and, he was also not just a person that was in a rumour.
He was indeed loved. Not just by the duke but by the little miss too. Both masters protected him...
’Maybe...maybe, my lady should...just, let it go.’
Nala was even more terrified now because she was never ordered to get involved with Asher or the duke like this. She was just there to gather information and see if there was anything that her lady needed to know. But, Nala went too far because she wanted to impress her lady and now her lady also could be in trouble.
It was all ruined.
Her lady will hate her for this.
’I was the dumb one. Hic! What am I going to do now?!’
While she tried to think of ways to protect herself, Asher and the duke, both concerned about different things about each other, decided they needed to talk.
"Duke...Can’t we talk later?"
"Asher, what are you hiding?"
"I am not hiding anything. I can’t tell you about it while Miss Anne is here."
Asher whispered but well, Anne obviously heard them but just decided to stay in the familiar warm embrace she didn’t get to rest in for sometime.
"...Okay. We will go back now."
Felix stood up, carrying Anne who buried her face on Felix’s shoulder. Asher could see the duke was stressed about what he had to say since he made it seem so serious by telling he couldn’t tell it while Anne was there.
But...doesn’t Anne already know what he is going to say though?
If she overheard them, which seemed like the case given the fact her words were exactly like what Nala said to her that time, then...she must have heard everything she called him, right?
Horny slut? Low life? Bastard? Leech? And, that getting into the duke’s pants thing...Aagh! So dirty for a child’s ear!
The child shouldn’t have heard that at all.
But it’s too late. He could do nothing.
Now, Asher felt quite lost as he wondered how he was going to tell the duke about this whole thing and the possible reaction the duke could give...
But he already knew one thing. He is definitely going to upset the duke for not telling him about this...
’Damn Nala...she should have just sucked it up even if she was so desperate to show her hatred for me. Making things complicated for everyone...’
Asher looked at Nala who was now all silent and looking pitiful. Maybe she got too confident about what she could do. That is all Asher could guess as the reason for her stupidity.
’Sigh...I can’t believe this mess started because of a teapot.’
Even though the problem started way earlier, maybe Miss Anne wouldn’t have stirred it up again there if Nala had filled that damn tea pot again. At least Asher thought so.
Either way...no doubt, this is all Nala’s fault.
"Nala, you know it won’t be good if I don’t see you again when I want to talk to you, right?"
As they were about to leave, Felix asked, his cold tone making Nala tremble again. She knew...it is always better not to provoke him more.
"Y-yes duke."
"Mm..."
Felix left the garden with Asher by his side and Anne on his arm, looking bothered and impatient.
How come he has so little information about things happening around him?
Anne didn’t tell him about anything.
What exactly happened?
What was that low life story?
He was so confused.
But he knew Anne wouldn’t go this far as to put on such an act if it wasn’t something serious in her eyes.
’But she could have just told me too so I could deal with it.’
Felix glanced at Anne, whose head was resting on his shoulder, her eyes on him and now, giggling.
"Are you done crying?"
"Yeah."
"Why didn’t you just tell me what happened?"
"Because I wanted to know something more. I just found it out and I thought I don’t have to wait anymore when she annoyed me."
"What is it that you just found out?"
Felix asked but instead of answering him, Anne raised her head and turned to Asher.
"Don’t worry brother Ash. Like you said, obviously father knows what’s best for him."
Anne smiled and said to Asher who couldn’t help but feel quite exposed. Right...he said something like that to Nala then. It was also with so much confidence, wasn’t it? He and the duke weren’t even together but Asher remembered saying the duke chose him. Sigh...
"When you and brother Ash finish talking, call me. I will tell you it then."
Anne then turned to Felix after giggling at Asher’s reaction. Felix tried questioning her more but she cut him off and asked to be placed down, said goodbye, and left for her room in a hurry.
Felix didn’t try to stop her again since she made it clear he should first talk with Asher and then with her. Alas, that’s what he also needed. Since now Anne also wanted him to do so...he would do so.
"Can you tell me now?"
After coming back to the office, Felix sat down with Asher and impatiently asked.
After taking a few deep breaths, Asher finally went on to explain everything, including his guess about how Anne might have overheard them since at that time he went to bring something for her and she might have followed him with worry since he looked upset.
Asher expressed his disappointment in himself for getting angry. He then explained how his interactions with that maid Nala happened whenever they met after that, then about today’s incident also where he thought Nala behaved that was because of him.
"Asher...don’t be sorry. If someone crosses a limit and takes advantage of your kindness and humbleness, putting them in their place isn’t wrong. You...did great."
Felix pulled Asher into a hug, making Asher feel really relieved. He didn’t expect this response but...why did it make him feel so much relaxed?
"T-thank you duke."
Asher couldn’t help but shed a few tears as he realised he shouldn’t have worried that way. Maybe...like Anne said, he shouldn’t have hid this. The duke should have known.
’Well, when that happened, we were not together so... guess I put that incident aside as something not so important. I was dumb. I should have told the duke either way since Nala seemed to be very settled on the idea of the duke being with a woman was the best. And she talked as if...she knew who she wanted the duke to be with too. And also, like, she wanted to help that kind hearted, beautiful woman and let me know I was not good enough. I should have paid more attention to the things she said. Of course she was suspicious!"
