My Dear Duke(BL) -
Chapter 136: Tea Time(3)
Chapter 136: Tea Time(3)
Asher, listening to Anne talking, just kept his head down.
’Did Miss Anne hear us talking that day?’
Asher thought it can not be just a coincidence since Anne asked exactly what Nala said at that time. She must have heard everything they said. Or else...there was no way she would know Nala would think of him as a low life and not deserved to be respected.
So, this meant, Anne must have heard him calling Nala a ’bitch’ too right?
She must have heard him angrily threatening her too right?
Asher was suddenly scared.
He behaved in such a bad way which of course wouldn’t leave a good impression on anyone.
Did Miss Anne hear all of it?
Does she doubt him now?
He wouldn’t blame her if she were to think he was not as kind as he was shown outside...
He didn’t really do it on purpose. He just lost his temper easily that day and ended up threatening Nala, using quite a harsh tone on her at that.
If Asher thinks clearly, that was the first ever time he behaved like that with anyone. He had never even thought about threatening anyone let alone calling names. For Asher, it’s not about getting back at Nala at that moment. No matter what the situation, what was important should have been him not going as low as her. He should have kept his composure still which he didn’t, well...couldn’t.
That’s what upsetted him the most now since that was now discovered to be seen by Anne who might get unnecessary opinions about him. She wouldn’t think he is a bad guy, would she? Ugh....
’I should have kept my cool that day. I didn’t think she would hear us. Fuck!’
Asher was really stressed about this, but, in reality, actually no one was thinking the way he was thinking. Only he was upset at himself for being hard on Nala.
"Brother Ash. I am disappointed."
Anne’s eyes fell on Asher, startling Asher and making him nervous as she said so. Right...he was disappointed too.
Asher couldn’t help but agree. Then, he got even more nervous when he saw the duke also turning him, seemingly clueless as to what was happening.
Given the situation, obviously it seemed like the duke was the only one who had no idea about the root of this mess.
"I am sorry Miss."
Asher apologised, his heart thumping.
Did Miss Anne tell the duke already?
She must not have told him about it yet, right?
From the way the duke was looking confused, he must not have had any idea...
Can he also apologise to Miss Anne and not let this reach the duke?
He...really didn’t want the duke to know he behaved like that toward a woman.
’Fuck, that’s not who I am in real life. But why is this just one incident where I lost my temper coming after me like this?!’
Asher has morals.
He really is kind.
It was just one time he lost his temper.
And, Asher could confirm he wouldn’t be like that everytime he loses his temper.
It was...just the situation.
’I feel like crap!’
"Brother Ash, why did you do it?"
"I am sorry Miss."
"Why are you apologising? Well, I am actually mad. You should have just told father how she treated you and called you all those names. I was...so sad. How could anyone call brother Ash that?!"
Out of the blue, Anne suddenly started crying. Asher was still processing what she was saying and only got an idea when he unknowingly rushed up to comfort her.
’She is not mad at me for...being bad, but for not telling the duke?’
Asher, surprised, just dazed around as he tried to confirm if it was really what she meant.
So...Miss Anne was going to ignore his behaviour and just be mad about him not telling her duke?
Is it?
’I hope she really isn’t upset at me for my behaviour at that time. I definitely won’t be like that again. Lesson learned. Thank god!’
Asher felt a sense of relief and left a sigh as he thought about it again.
Maybe...she was right.
He should have told the duke such a thing happened.
But he didn’t think it’s important. Alas, every time he thought about it, it made him mad.
"Asher...Can you explain to me what happened?"
Felix picked Anne from the chair and pulled her close to him, who then clutched onto his clothes and cried again. Asher was worried for her but the duke handled it well by hugging her and letting her hold onto him. It seemed like this is something they had become used to as Anne just rolled up quickly and Felix held her carefully as if he knew she was going to curl up and pull at his clothes to hold on.
They looked loving to each other when they’re hugging and caring...Asher felt quite moved even in that tense atmosphere witnessing this.
So, at the somewhat ruined tea time, now, Anne was hugging the duke, the duke was questioning Asher, Asher was worrying about his Miss Anne. Then the one who ruined it, Nala?
She just stood there, terrified and had already given up...
She...knew it was all done.
Miss Anne was crying and since it had something to do with her, the duke wouldn’t let it slide. She was definitely in huge trouble now.
She regretted it. She should have been more careful.
She never thought Miss Anne would hear them since they were in the kitchen and Miss Anne didn’t have any reason to come around.
She took that chance to confront Asher because they were alone. She needed to let him know how much of a troublesome person he was and push him away from the duke...she actually thought Asher was a very easy going, calm person.
So, she didn’t expect to see him mad like that.
But she still maintained her composure because she didn’t want to back out.
Maybe she made a mistake.
She should have just let her lady handle this all.
She should not have gotten involved with Asher. Now she had got caught, it was all done.
She...failed her lady too.
’My lady...I’m sorry. I was useless and foolish.’
