My daily life is not peaceful
Chapter 12 - The Date

Chapter 12: The Date

Time quickly arrived at the first day of the weekend.

Regarding Asagi Aiba’s invitation from yesterday, Luo Yun took it seriously. Having agreed, he naturally wouldn’t do something as tactless as standing her up.

Besides, ever since Agulola vanished three years ago, Luo Yun had lost the habit of sleeping in. He woke up around six-thirty every morning, checked his computer for light novel sales and reviews, and then wrote another chapter.

It wasn’t because he wanted to be a plagiarist*, but this simple, convenient work allowed him to gain recognition power*.

The absorption of recognition power directly influenced the evolution of Myriad Forms and his own strength.

This way, if he encountered more trouble in the future, he wouldn’t be at a loss. Even against blood clans who could summon familiars, he wouldn’t have to helplessly watch others shield him.

Though he had Nangong Nayue’s protection, as long as he didn’t actively court death, he was generally safe. But better safe than sorry—especially with the plot approaching, when Nayue’s Prison Barrier would soon open.

When that time came, it wouldn’t be Nayue protecting him; he’d have to step up himself.

After washing his face, Luo Yun looked at his reflection in the mirror, a glint of determination in his eyes.

“You’re up this early on a holiday, getting all dressed up. Got some romantic luck coming your way?”

Dressed in a frilly outfit, Nangong Nayue sat in the living room, legs crossed, holding a cup of black tea, smirking at Luo Yun in the bathroom.

“It’s just Asagi treating me to lunch today, so I won’t be home at noon.”

Luo Yun replied.

“Perfect, saves me from cooking your share. I don’t care if you go out with a female classmate, but make sure to take safety precautions. If you get hurt or cause a mess, see how I deal with you!”

Nangong Nayue’s smile turned slightly sinister. Though she’d taken him in as a younger brother, having been mostly alone her whole life, she’d come to treat Luo Yun as family over the years.

Gentle yet strict.

“Pfft! Cough, cough, cough…”

Luo Yun, sipping warm water to soothe his stomach, nearly choked at her words.

What did she mean by getting hurt? Causing a mess?

His relationship with Asagi Aiba was purely platonic, okay?

“I’ll take safety precautions. If a Fallen Demon attacks me, I’ll call the police right away.”

“Tch!”

Nangong Nayue clicked her tongue.

Her teasing was only half successful, which irked her.

“Be careful on the way.”

Her words carried a trace of her gentleness, making Luo Yun smile.

In the original story’s timeline, Nangong Nayue had experienced a falling-out with a friend and, due to a contract with a demon, became the key to the Prison Barrier, unable to see the outside world’s sunlight for roughly a decade.

Though the original plot ensured she’d be fine, Luo Yun wanted more than that—he wanted a better future.

Nangong Nayue found Luo Yun a bit odd today, but she couldn’t pinpoint why.

The clock neared nine in the morning.

Ding-dong~~~

A crisp doorbell rang from outside.

Dressed neatly, Luo Yun opened the door to find Asagi Aiba standing there.

“Uh, good morning.”

Asagi raised her hand with a smile, waving slightly.

“Good morning.”

Luo Yun returned a smile.

“You look really pretty today.”

Asagi’s usual modified school uniform, while vibrant, was still just a school uniform, unable to fully highlight her feminine charm.

But today, she’d dressed up: a sky-blue top complemented her fair, delicate skin, her slightly exposed shoulders glowing with a pinkish sheen, and a beige miniskirt paired with long, slender legs standing straight.

“…Thanks. And good morning, Teacher Nayue.”

“Good morning, kid. If you’re going on a date with my boy, don’t be too forward.”

Nangong Nayue teased.

Asagi’s cheeks flushed as the loli girl flashed a playful smile.

“It’s just friends hanging out, nothing like that.”

“That’s for the best. My boy doesn’t seem too interested in girls anyway. Never found any pin-up magazines under his bed.”

“Eh?”

Asagi froze.

If her classmate were a bit sharper, he wouldn’t be so easily toyed with by Nayue. Luo Yun sighed helplessly at Asagi’s skeptical look. “Do I have to say I’m perfectly normal for you to feel at ease?”

The girl gave a barely perceptible nod, leaving him speechless.

“…Let’s go. It’s still early, so we can wander a bit.”

Asagi didn’t dwell on it, her expression easing as her lips curled into her usual sly grin.

Her striking face, enhanced by her outfit, looked even more radiant, with small earrings swaying gently as she moved.

Luo Yun waved at Nangong Nayue, who made a shooing gesture in return.
