Chapter 13: Private Cinema and Asagi
It had been a long time since he’d properly explored Itogami Island.
This time, accepting Asagi Aiba’s invitation, he could tour the island while keeping an eye out for any noteworthy events.
Itogami Island was much livelier on weekends than usual, especially among young people, who gathered in small groups to eat, drink, and have fun on their days off.
Compared to the original story, the artificial island Luo Yun lived on was several times larger. As a globally recognized Demon Sanctuary, it never lacked resources, so the population was substantial.
The streets were bustling with traffic and crowds.
Though hidden threats loomed overhead, for now, Luo Yun intended to take Asagi’s invitation seriously.
Otherwise, it would be irresponsible to the girl.
The two crossed a busy street, arriving at a relatively vibrant pedestrian mall.
Girls on vacation, spotting Luo Yun, couldn’t help but have their eyes light up. In their teens, at the peak of youth, they naturally paid more attention to an attractive guy.
They soon noticed his companion, dressed in a sky-blue top and beige miniskirt. Though simple, her outfit had a unique charm.
When quiet, among all the girls Luo Yun knew, Asagi Aiba’s feminine allure easily ranked near the top.
Along the way, they didn’t talk much. Perhaps due to Nangong Nayue’s teasing, Asagi’s heart was pounding, but her naturally defiant personality kept her from feeling too shy.
Sidling up to Luo Yun, she nudged him with her elbow and asked, “Don’t you feel like you hit the jackpot going out with me?”
Luo Yun had been observing the shops along the street. As a guy, even if this wasn’t a formal date, he felt he should take the lead—buying small gifts, treating her to food, or watching a movie were standard outings.
Though Asagi wasn’t short on money, he couldn’t let the girl pay.
Hearing her question, he glanced at her.
Asagi awaited his answer, appearing calm but her heart beating faster. As a girl, she naturally cared about the opinion of a guy she liked.
“You look great. The color and style are perfectly matched, and your figure is amazing. Overall, nice!”
Luo Yun gave a thumbs-up.
Expecting to see him blush, Asagi found her own cheeks heating up instead.
Her nonconformist attitude at school left her with few friends in class, and there were even unkind rumors about her.
Yet Luo Yun effortlessly accepted all of her, earnestly complimenting her style without ever mocking it.
Maybe that’s why she…
Her face flushed as she shook her head. “No, what am I even thinking? So embarrassing…”
It was still a while until noon, and having just eaten breakfast, going to a restaurant wasn’t an option. But they couldn’t just aimlessly wander the streets either.
“How about a movie? You love horror films, don’t you? There’s a new one out today.”
Luo Yun pointed at a movie poster.
Unlike most girls who preferred romance or idol dramas, Asagi had a particular fondness for sci-fi and horror.
Over the years, she’d dragged him to the cinema plenty of times, only to be scared witless each time. Yet she never learned, always pulling Luo Yun along for more.
“Wow! It’s The Conjuring 8, the one I’ve been dying to see! Today’s my lucky day!”
Asagi was thrilled. He paid for the tickets, which cost more than usual.
It wasn’t until they wound through the halls that he realized this was a small cinema with private rooms.
The room wasn’t small, but for two people, it felt a bit spacious.
Soft lighting adorned the space, with a sofa in the center and a marble coffee table in front, holding two large drinks and popcorn. A slightly smaller screen hung on the wall, with adjustable light color and brightness. The temperature was perfect, and the soundproofing was excellent.
Luo Yun glanced at a bed in the corner. What was that for?
“Let’s sit here.”
Asagi plopped down, as excited as a child.
Soon, a staff member came in to start the film.
“Dear guests, the room is reserved for three hours. No one will disturb you during this time. Please enjoy your movie.”
Before closing the door, the staff winked at Luo Yun, as if hinting at something.
Unfortunately, Luo Yun wasn’t that kind of guy.
As the lights dimmed, only the screen’s glow and eerie sound effects remained.
“Hurry up!”
Asagi beckoned Luo Yun to sit. The chilly atmosphere made her feel a touch of warmth as they sat close.
Going out together was already an intimate affair. Asagi, who could joke freely on the streets, now felt a tinge of shyness in the private cinema with just the two of them. But the dim lights and the movie’s start meant Luo Yun didn’t notice her expression.
