Chapter 20: Khan’s Night (Extra)

Author’s Note:

This is only for those who want to know more about the world—told from Khan’s perspective.

----------------

Walking down the hallway toward my room, I was in the middle of a thought.

I’ll try my best to take care of them... mostly because of those systems.

Reaching the door, I simply opened it and stepped inside. Looking around, everything was quiet.

I let out a small sigh and thought,

Today was pretty hectic... I hope my days don’t keep going like this...

Walking to the couch, I sat down more relaxed and looked up.

Staring at the ceiling for a while, unable to sleep, I asked myself:

What am I? I feel a strong attachment to the girls and the creations I spent so long building... but the people of this world—I don’t see them as equals. I don’t know if that might be a problem later on...

After a brief pause, I remembered Shubniggurath’s system.

Out of all the systems I created, hers might be the saddest... It works with a "happiness bar" that’s always being consumed. That’s why I named her the Pillar of Loss, but it seems the people of the island know her better as the Pillar of Hunger. The lower the bar drops, the deeper her sadness gets.

Thinking about these annoying things, I remembered the final condition.

She wouldn’t die—but she wouldn’t be okay either. On the seventh day, she’d try to fix it in a different way... by devouring until she sleeps.

After another sigh, I looked at the table and saw a notebook there.

Might as well write down some knowledge...

Getting up from the couch, I walked to the table. There wasn’t much—some books on the side and the notebook in the middle. Sitting in the chair, I leaned over the table and thought,

Where should I start? Maybe with the Pillars?

Opening the notebook and grabbing a pen, I thought,

Guess I’ll summarize a bit...

I started writing:

Luxian, Pillar of Charity, her kindness is a painless death.

Azathoth, Pillar of Resentment, her vast knowledge lets her see things she’d rather not.

Shubniggurath, Pillar of Loss (or Hunger), constantly mourns what she has lost.

Lilith, Pillar of Lust, a bit different from the name—she just constantly craves my presence. (Note: This one embarrassed me. Damn the past.)

Livia, Pillar of Faith, sees only what He sees, feels only what He feels.

Iris, Pillar of Life, life is a spiral—everyone walks in circles toward their end.

Alice, Pillar of Mistrust, trusts only me, out of fear of a world that once judged her.

-

Finishing all that, slightly embarrassed, I sighed and pulled the pen away from the paper.

So that’s what I remember writing for them... at least in short.

Putting the pen back down, I thought again,

I guess now I’ll write about what I’ve discovered about my system so far...

I began writing:

It seems my system has three tabs:

One for the Island, two for the Folders, and three—still a bit unknown, but I think it’s for writing—so I call it the IDE.

Island:

I have a map based on my memory of the island.

I have Island Status, where I can see the condition of each area.

I have Island Controls, where I can activate certain things.

I also have a list of all creations on the island—but the people from the new world who are here right now don’t appear.

Folders:

All my pre-written scripts are stored here.

I can compile them to activate a chosen ability—but I get stuck in place, so I need to be careful.

There are also activators—slots for using them. I only have five.

IDE:

Probably the writing space, though I still don’t know how to activate it. (Note: More testing needed.)

-

Finishing that part, I pulled the pen away again and thought,

That should be enough for now about the system...

Resting my elbow on the table and then my head on my hand, I stared at the page.

What else? My eye colors?

Thinking that it was time to cover that, I turned the page and began writing again:

Blue – Normal color.

Yellow – Confusion. (Note: Found it out while looking in the mirror during some confusing thoughts.)

Red – Anger or hatred. The glow gets more intense depending on the emotion’s strength. (Note: Found this out through mirror tests too... writing this down is embarrassing.)

Pink – Liking or love (I think). (Note: Discovered right after red, while thinking about my creations.)

-

Taking the pen away again, I thought,

Maybe that’s enough. Now I should try writing a bit about how I feel...

Putting the pen back to paper, I wrote:

Maybe my emotions aren’t human anymore.

I remember creating my race—called Equinox—to be cold and merciless, only caring about others of the same race.

Maybe that explains my hatred for creatures from the new world.

The only ones of my race are the seven.

I also wrote that I can convert different beings into my race—so they all have diverse traits.

But in this world, I don’t know how to do that...

I don’t feel hatred toward the beings of the island—maybe because they’re my creations.

Now that my human emotions are changing, I still don’t fully understand what I feel.

-

Lifting the pen once more, I thought,

I guess that’s it... I wrote what I thought—or maybe what I felt...

Staring at the wall, trying to think of what to write next, it took a while before a new idea came to me.

How about writing a bit about the castle?

Putting the pen back on the page, I continued:

The castle has seven floors—four lower levels and three upper ones.

Lower Castle:

The first two floors are for guests, where most of the entertainment and large halls are.

The third floor has everyone’s rooms, with many spare rooms and a wing just for maids.

The fourth floor has all the workrooms—offices and unused chambers.

Upper Castle, held by chains while it floats, is much smaller than the lower one:

First floor, reception.

Second floor, minor treasures—where ores, gifts, and less rare items are stored.

Third floor... I don’t remember. (Note: ...I thought a lot, but it didn’t help.)

There are also eight towers, one for each of us. (Note: Honestly, I have no excuse for that—I just thought it looked cool.

-

Finishing that section, I pulled the pen away again and asked myself if it was good enough.

It must be. As long as I understand it, that’s what matters...

After a long while of trying to decide what to write next, I noticed my hand still holding the pen.

Why do I look like this?

Turning the page and beginning again, I wrote down my guesses:

Maybe my appearance came from some model I once created.

Or maybe it’s a blend of all the models I ever used, and this new world copied me based on that?

I don’t think I have an answer for that right now.

-

Noticing it was morning, I just stopped writing.
