My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back
Chapter 71: Can I Kiss You?

Chapter 71: Can I Kiss You?

Lunara stood frozen in front of the clothing racks, arms crossed as she eyed the dresses with barely concealed reluctance. Everything was too frilly, too fitted, too... not her. She had always been a t-shirt-and-jeans kind of person, and the thought of slipping into any of these made her uneasy.

Eryx, watching her hesitation, let out an exaggerated sigh. "Naomi," he said, turning to her, "take Mila for a bit."

Naomi raised an eyebrow but took Mila into her arms without argument. But then, something flickered in her eyes. "Eryx..." she called for him, waving her hand to motion him closer. "Need my help?"

"What?" Eryx frowned, leaning in.

"I’ll take Mila to buy strawberries, and then I might also bring her home..." Naomi whispered in his ear.

Eryx shifted slightly. "And what’s the deal?"

"Back me up later. I’ll use it when the time comes."

Eryx studied her for a moment before sighing. "Fine. Just don’t go overboard."

Naomi grinned, adjusting Mila in her arms. "When have I ever gone overboard?"

Eryx gave her a pointed look.

Naomi snickered. "Alright, alright. Have fun playing dress-up." She turned to Mila. "Let’s go find those strawberries, yeah?"

Mila nodded eagerly, already forgetting about Eryx and Lunara as she happily let Naomi lead her away.

Eryx straightened and turned back to Lunara, who was still staring at the dresses like they were some kind of foreign object. He let out another sigh and grabbed her hand.

"Alright, enough stalling," he said. "You’re choosing at least five dresses, or I’m picking them for you. And trust me, you won’t like what I choose."

Lunara groaned. "Why are you like this?"

Eryx smirked. "Because someone needs to make sure you dress like a proper lady at least once in a while."

"And this is not lady enough?" She pulled her pink t-shirt slightly.

Eryx gave her an unimpressed look. "That’s a cartoon rabbit wearing sunglasses."

Lunara crossed her arms. "And?"

"And it’s not exactly the elegant look I had in mind." He tugged her forward again, ignoring her half-hearted resistance.

"I’m comfortable in this," she grumbled.

Eryx hummed, pretending to think. "Alright, then. How about this? You pick five dresses, or I pick the most extravagant, glittery, over-the-top ball gown I can find, and you have to wear it for the rest of the day."

Lunara stopped in her tracks, staring at him. "You wouldn’t."

Eryx grinned. "Try me."

She exhaled sharply, looking around at the racks of dresses, clearly weighing her options. "Five, right?"

"Five," he confirmed. "And no picking five identical plain black ones just to get it over with."

Lunara sighed before sending him a sharp glare. "Whatever."

Lunara grumbled under her breath as she stepped into the fitting room with a handful of dresses. She could already tell this was going to be a disaster.

The first dress was a no. Too frilly.

The second one? Too tight.

The third? She couldn’t even figure out how to put it on properly.

By the time she reached the fourth dress, a sleek, elegant piece that was actually kind of nice but then she ran into a new problem. The zipper.

She twisted, struggling to reach it, but the stubborn thing refused to budge. Huffing in frustration, she peeked her head out from behind the curtain, scanning for a staff member.

Before she could call out, Eryx’s voice came from nearby. "What’s wrong?"

Lunara stiffened. "Nothing."

Eryx arched a brow, clearly unconvinced. "Then why are you peeking out like a meerkat?"

She scowled. "I was looking for someone to help me with—" She stopped, suddenly realizing what she was about to say.

Eryx’s eyes furrowed. "With?

Lunara shook her head, "Can you just call the staff to help me with this dress please?"

Eryx’s expression shifted as he noticed the slight frustration in her expression. His teasing demeanor changed into something more serious as he stepped into the fitting room.

"Is it stuck?" he asked, stepping closer.

Lunara sighed, still gripping the fabric at her back. "Yeah. I was trying to zip it up, but it won’t budge."

Eryx didn’t hesitate. "Turn around."

She hesitated for a moment before slowly doing as he said. His fingers brushed against her back as he carefully inspected the zipper, his touch light but firm.

"Relax," he murmured, his voice softer now. "You’re too tense."

Lunara exhaled, forcing her shoulders to loosen slightly.

With steady hands, Eryx gently moved her hair over her shoulders before working the zipper up, making sure it didn’t snag on the fabric. The warmth of his fingertips lingered against her skin for a brief second before he stepped back.

"It was your hair," he murmured, gently moving it back into place.

Lunara swallowed, suddenly very aware of how close they were in the small fitting room. She turned slightly, catching his gaze in the mirror. His expression was calm and focused. "You can go out now."

He smiled, then leaned closer to meet her eyes. "You look pretty. And your new hair... it suits you."

He slipped a strand behind her ear, his fingers barely grazing her skin. The warmth lingered, and Lunara felt her face heat up instantly.

Immediately darting her eyes away from Eryx, Lunara cleared her throat. "Go out. I need to change my dress."

Before she could step away, Eryx suddenly cupped her cheek, his touch surprisingly gentle as he tilted her face up to meet his gaze.

"Wear this one," he murmured. "It looks pretty." He paused, then his lips curved into a soft smile. "Or maybe... it’s just because you’re the one wearing it. The dress stands out more on you."

Lunara’s breath caught in her throat. He was close, too close. And his words? It was too smooth, made her heart stumble in a way she wasn’t prepared for.

Her fingers curled into the fabric of the dress as she stammered, "Stop saying weird things."

But Eryx only smiled, his gaze soft and unwavering. "Can I kiss you?"
