My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back
Chapter 70: Holding Hand

Chapter 70: Holding Hand

As they strolled through the mall, Mila reached out from Eryx’s arms, her little fingers grabbing at Lunara’s shirt.

Lunara blinked. "Does she... want me to hold her?"

Eryx glanced down at Mila, who was making grabby hands. "Seems like it." Without hesitation, he carefully passed her over.

Lunara hesitated, but as soon as she took Mila, the little girl giggled, snuggling against her. Warmth spread through Lunara’s chest. She wasn’t sure why Mila suddenly preferred her, but she wasn’t about to question it.

Naomi smirked. "Aww, she’s already choosing you over her dad."

Eryx huffed. "She just wants variety."

Lunara rolled her eyes. "Sure, let’s go with that."

They continued walking until Lunara suddenly stopped in front of a cap store. Without a word, she stepped inside, browsed for a moment, then grabbed a plain black cap and took it to the cashier.

Naomi and Eryx exchanged surprised glances.

"What’s that for?" Naomi asked.

Lunara adjusted Mila in her arms as she opened the cap and looked at Eryx. "People keep glancing at us," she muttered. "I don’t know if it’s because of you, but it’s uncomfortable."

Eryx raised an eyebrow. "People always stare."

"Yeah, I figured. You do stand out." She glanced around at the lingering gazes. "They probably recognize you or something."

Lunara tiptoed slightly and placed the cap on his head, pulling it low over his face. "Keep it on."

Eryx studied her for a moment before stepping away. "Wait here."

Before Lunara could ask, he strode inside the store. A minute later, he returned, holding another cap. Without a word, he gently placed it on her head, making sure to avoid the wound on her temple.

"I think you’re the one attracting attention," he said, his voice quieter now. His fingers lingered near her temple. "Does it still hurt?"

Lunara stiffened slightly at the reminder. She had almost forgotten about the wound, "It’s fine," she muttered.

Naomi crossed her arms, dramatically rolling her eyes. "Wow, look at you two. So sweet I think I just got a cavity." She smirked. "Should I walk ten steps behind and pretend I’m the nanny?"

Lunara shot her a look. "Very funny."

Eryx, completely ignoring Naomi, adjusted the cap slightly. "You should be more careful."

Lunara huffed. "It’s not like I asked for it."

Naomi let out an exaggerated sigh. "Yeah, yeah, but can we move now? Or do you two need a romantic slow-motion moment first?"

Before Lunara could respond, Mila shifted in her arms, letting out a soft whimper. She squirmed, her tiny hands tugging at Lunara’s shirt. Then, without warning, her face scrunched up, and she let out a full-blown wail.

Lunara panicked slightly, bouncing her gently. "Oh no, what’s wrong?"

Naomi leaned in. "Maybe she’s hungry?"

Eryx frowned, already reaching for Mila. "Give her to me."

But Mila clung to Lunara, her tiny fists tightening around her shirt as she sobbed. Lunara glanced at Eryx helplessly. "I think she wants me to hold her."

"No, no, something’s wrong. Let me take her." Eryx reached out, trying to take Mila from Lunara’s arms, when suddenly, Mila let out a small hiccup, then vomited all over his suit.

For a second, there was silence.

Naomi slapped a hand over her mouth, trying and failing to stifle a laugh. "Oh... My... God."

Eryx froze, his face unreadable as he slowly looked down at his now-ruined suit. Lunara, still holding Mila, gasped. "Oh no! I’m so sorry—"

Naomi wheezed. "This is the best thing I’ve seen all day."

Eryx exhaled sharply, closing his eyes for a moment before finally muttering, "Great." He carefully pulled his now-sticky blazer off, tossing it away to Naomi. "Hold it." Then he turned to Lunara and took Mila from her arms.

"Excuse me?" Naomi, who caught the blazer, frowned. "

Naomi, who caught the blazer, frowned. "Do I look like your personal dry cleaner?"

Eryx shot her a flat look. "Do I look like I care right now?"

Naomi huffed, holding the blazer between two fingers as if it were radioactive. "Unbelievable. I’m adding this to my list of grievances against you."

Lunara, still flustered, glanced at Mila, who had calmed down considerably in Eryx’s arms, her little fingers clutching his shirt. "She... uh, she seems fine now..."

Eryx glanced down at the baby, his expression softening just a fraction. "Yeah, she just needed to get that out of her system." He adjusted her against his chest with practiced ease, rubbing her back gently.

Naomi squinted at him. "Okay, but real talk here... why are you so good at this?"

Eryx gave her a look. "Because I’ve been doing this since she was a few months old."

Lunara watched as Mila snuggled into him, her tiny hand curling into his shirt. He didn’t even seem fazed by it, just naturally adjusting her in his arms like it was second nature.

Naomi shook her head in exaggerated disbelief. "I swear, if you weren’t so grumpy all the time, you’d actually be likable."

Eryx arched a brow. "Good thing I have no interest in being likable."

Lunara, despite herself, smiled a little. She tiptoed as she peeked at Mila’s face. "Are you okay now? Do you want something to eat?"

Mila blinked up at Lunara, her big eyes still watery but no longer distressed. She sniffled, then wiped her face with the back of her sleeve before letting out a small huff. Then, after a beat, she looked at Eryx and declared, "Stobewy."

Naomi tilted her head. "Stobewy?"

Lunara blinked, then her eyes widened. "Oh! She means strawberry."

Mila nodded eagerly. "Stobewy!"

Eryx sighed, adjusting her in his arms. "Alright, let’s change our clothes first then find some strawberries."

Lunara glanced down at herself, expecting the worst, but aside from a faint spot on her sleeve, her clothes were mostly fine. "Actually, I don’t really need to—"

Eryx cut her off. "You’re changing."

She blinked. "What? But—"

Without another word, he reached for her hand, his fingers clasping around hers with firm insistence. Lunara stiffened, startled by the sudden contact. Her first instinct was to pull away, but Eryx was already leading her toward the nearest clothing store.

Naomi, watching the whole thing unfold, let out a dramatic gasp. "Oh yeah, hand-holding in public? What about being in a secret marriage?" She rolled her eyes, then hurried to catch up with them.
