Chapter 54: Grandma

Lunara stared out the window in front of her. She hadn’t slept a wink.

The whole night, Eryx never returned. She had expected him to come back, to pester her like he had for the past two days but he didn’t.

Slowly, she got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. Every step felt heavy, her mood already ruined. But she stopped in her tracks when someone knocked on the door.

Panicking, she rushed to find a mirror. "Oh my gosh! I look terrible." She poked at the dark circles under her eyes. They were swollen from all the crying yesterday, and today, she could barely keep them open.

"What should I do? What should I do?" She paced in front of the mirror, running her hands through her messy hair, when a voice from outside made her freeze.

"Lunara, it’s me, Regina."

Her movements stopped instantly. It wasn’t him. The thought alone brought an unexpected wave of disappointment to her face.

"Are you up? I need to discuss something with you," Regina continued when Lunara didn’t respond.

Lunara let out a slow breath before unlocking the door. As soon as she pulled it open, Regina’s eyes widened in shock.

"Oh my, Lunara! What happened?" Regina stepped closer, scanning her puffy eyes and tear-streaked face.

Lunara sighed, running a hand through her tangled hair. "It’s nothing."

Regina didn’t look convinced. She tried to peek inside, her gaze searching for someone. "Where’s Eryx?"

"He’s not here," Lunara muttered.

Regina frowned but didn’t press further. Instead, she crossed her arms. "About yesterday... I heard what happened with the photographer."

Lunara stiffened.

"Eryx already settled everything," Regina continued. "That creep won’t bother you again. You don’t have to worry about losing the project either, you’re still on board."

Lunara swallowed, gripping the edge of her pajamas. It should have been a relief, but instead, hesitation clung at her chest.

She thought back to what happened yesterday. The photographer’s disgusting behavior, the way she froze, and how terrifyingly fast Eryx had handled everything. She unconsciously shook her head.

"What is it? You don’t want to proceed?" Regina, misinterpreting her reaction, asked.

Lunara opened her mouth but hesitated. Did she? Was she ready to go back after what happened?

"I..." she started, but the words stuck in her throat.

Regina sighed, stepping inside without waiting for permission. "Look, I understand if you’re shaken up. But you don’t have to be. Eryx made sure that guy won’t work in this industry again. And if you’re worried about your safety, I’ll personally make sure nothing like this happens to you again."

Lunara lowered her gaze. It wasn’t just about her safety, it was about everything else. What about the other staff who had been there? What would they think? Would rumors about her only getting jobs through connections grow even worse? And was she just supposed to walk back in like nothing had happened?

Her fingers curled into the fabric of her sleeve. "Madam... What about the others?"

Regina frowned. "What do you mean?"

"The staff. The models. The people who saw everything," Lunara said, her voice quiet but firm. "Did they say anything? Or are they just pretending it never happened?"

Regina hesitated before letting out a short breath. She placed her hands on Lunara’s shoulders and smiled. "You’ll slowly learn how Eryx handles problems."

Gently brushing Lunara’s hair, she added, "Go take a bath, and let’s have breakfast. You don’t need to worry about anything. No one will talk about you or even remember what happened yesterday."

Lunara searched Regina’s face, trying to find some reassurance in her words, but something about them felt off. Just like that? Everything was handled, and no one would talk?

She swallowed. "That easy?"

Regina chuckled, tucking a strand of Lunara’s hair behind her ear. "That’s the use of power, sweetheart. Now, stop overthinking and freshen up. We’re having breakfast."

Lunara nodded slowly, though the unease in her chest didn’t fade.

After finishing breakfast, Lunara pushed her plate away and sighed. The meal filled her stomach, but not the lingering unease in her chest. She still wasn’t sure if she should return to work for the actual shoot the next week.

Before she could dwell on it, footsteps echoed down the stairs.

"Lunara!" Naomi’s bright voice rang out. The younger girl appeared, dressed casually but there was a spark of excitement in her eyes. "Are you going out?"

Lunara wiped her mouth with a napkin and shook her head. "I don’t have anything to do today."

Naomi’s face lit up. "Perfect! Let’s go shopping!"

Lunara blinked. "Shopping?"

"Yes! You’ve been through a lot, so a little retail therapy will do you good," Naomi said, clasping her hands together. "Come on, it’ll be fun!"

Before Lunara could respond, Regina walked in with a cup of coffee and scoffed. "Shopping? Shouldn’t you be heading to the company instead?" She raised an eyebrow at Naomi. "You’ve been avoiding it long enough."

"Mom..." Naomi pouted. "You told me you’d give me half a year to settle down."

"I’ve been too lenient with you. Your brothers wouldn’t even have this kind of leisure," Regina said, taking a seat at the table. She took a sip of her coffee before adding, "Oh and one more thing, make sure you’re prepared, because this weekend, we’re heading to your grandma’s."

Naomi gasped, her eyes widening instantly. "Ah, Mom... No, don’t tell me we’re staying over! Even a few hours there feels like hell."

Regina continued sipping her coffee, not bothering to answer.

"Does Eryx know about this?" Naomi blinked several times, hoping for an immediate response. "Mom... you didn’t tell him yet, right?"

Lunara, who didn’t understand what was going on, remained quiet.

"So, do you plan to bring Ara too?"

The entire dining room fell silent, thick with a tension that Lunara couldn’t quite grasp.

Regina finally set her cup down, her expression unreadable. "That depends."

Naomi’s shoulders stiffened. "Depends on what?"

Regina met her gaze calmly. "On whether Eryx wants her there."

The whole dining room fell into an uneasy silence. Lunara, still unaware of the full weight of the conversation, glanced between them. She could sense the tension, but she had no idea why.

"Let’s go shopping before my mom traps me with work," Naomi said, quickly pulling Lunara up, eager to escape.
