My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back
Chapter 20: Familiar Face

Chapter 20: Familiar Face

Eryx strode fast as he walked out in anger from the meeting room. Callum who was by his side trying his best to match up his pace.

"Callum, get me the location of the woman, now!"

Callum blinked, clearly startled. "You mean... Miss Lunara?"

"Who else?" Eryx snapped, his patience gone.

"Uh... right away, sir!" Callum fumbled with his phone, already dialing.

Eryx’s jaw tightened. His mother’s games had gone too far this time and he was going to get some answers.

The moment he reached the car, he pulled the door right away to open it only for the door to be still locked, "Where is the driver?!"

"A–ah..." Callum fidgeting as he looked around, "Actually, since Uncle Dally still didn’t eat, I asked him to go eating first, expecting the meeting lasted at least one—"

The loud thud of Eryx kicked the door made Callum’s lips sealed right away, his eyes widened in shock.

Eryx closed his eyes, his nose flaring out the anger he tried hard to contain. "Spare key..."

"Me...driving, sir?" Callum replied, stuttering.

"Then, do you expect me to drive?"

Callum gulped and fumbled for the spare key, his hands shaking slightly as he handed it over. "O-of course not, sir!"

As the car rolled out of the company’s compound, Eryx leaned back, rubbing his temple. His patience had already been worn thin by his mother’s meddling, and meeting that woman in an unexpected place just added to it.

But just as they neared the entrance, he caught sight of her.

She sat at the bus stop, her hands resting limply on her lap, eyes blankly staring at the ground. Her usual guarded expression was gone, replaced by something empty, hollow.

Eryx’s brows furrowed.

"Stop the car," he ordered, his voice sharp.

Callum glanced at him through the rearview mirror. "Sir?"

"I said, stop the car."

The vehicle jerked slightly as Callum abruptly pressed the brakes. Eryx’s hand was already on the door handle before they came to a full stop. But then he hesitated, his sharp gaze fixed on the woman outside.

"Callum..."

"Yes, sir?"

"She looks like someone, doesn’t she?" he asked, his eyes never leaving her.

"Who?" Callum turned his head, realizing his boss was staring intently out the window. Following Eryx’s line of sight, his eyes widened. "That’s Miss Lunara, sir."

"I know." Eryx’s jaw tightened in irritation. "I mean... she looks like someone."

"Someone?" Callum tilted his head, trying to figure it out. After a moment, he scratched the back of his head. "Honestly, sir, a face like that isn’t easy to find." He smiled awkwardly.

His answer was met with a sharp glare from Eryx.

Callum’s smile faltered before he quickly added, "I mean... aside from Miss Seraphine, there’s no other woman around you who looks like that. And if I’m being honest, she’s even more beautiful than her."

Eryx leaned back, crossing his arms. His eyes remained fixed on her. "Then why does it feel like I’ve seen that face somewhere before?"

Callum stayed in his seat, following Eryx’s gaze as they both watched Lunara lightly kick at something on the ground outside.

The sudden sound of the door opening startled Callum. Before he could react, Eryx was already out, striding toward Lunara at the bus stop.

"Follow me." He grabbed her wrist and pulled her up.

Lunara’s eyes widened in shock. First, at being yanked so suddenly, and second, at realizing that the person doing the pulling was none other than Eryx.

"What are you doing? Let me go," she said, her voice annoyed but still calm.

Eryx didn’t loosen his grip. "Stop being difficult and just come with me."

Lunara frowned, planting her feet firmly on the ground. "Excuse me? I don’t just follow people around because they demand it."

He sighed, clearly losing patience. "Just follow me."

"No." She crossed her arms stubbornly.

"Yes," he countered, mirroring her stance.

She narrowed her eyes. "No."

Eryx exhaled sharply. "Fine." Without another word, he bent down, wrapped an arm around her waist, and hoisted her over his shoulder.

A startled shriek escaped her lips. "Help! Put me down right now!"

"Shhh." He patted her leg like he was calming a fussy child. "Scream any louder, and people will think I’m kidnapping you."

"You are kidnapping me!" she huffed, kicking her feet.

"Then at least make it easy for me," he replied, completely unfazed.

"You—!" She smacked his back, her face burning in embarrassment. "I swear, if you don’t put me down—"

"Then what?" He tilted his head slightly. "You’ll kick me? Bite me?"

Lunara paused before grumbling, "Don’t ask for it."

He smirked. "Noted." Then, without another word, he carried her toward the car as Callum watched with wide eyes, wisely choosing to say nothing.

Eryx set Lunara down in the car, shutting the door before she could even think about escaping. She huffed, crossing her arms as he slid in beside her.

"Stay outside," Eryx instructed, glancing at Callum, who looked more than happy to avoid getting involved.

"Of course, sir," Callum mumbled, quickly closing the door and stepping away.

The car fell into silence. Lunara shifted in her seat, shooting him a glare. "Is this how you usually handle things? Dragging people around like cavemen?"

Eryx ignored her complaint, his gaze locked onto her face. The way she looked—something about it gnawed at him.

He leaned forward slightly, elbows resting on his knees. "Why do I feel like I’ve seen you before?"

Lunara blinked, caught off guard. "What?"

"You look... familiar." His brows furrowed, his voice quieter, almost to himself. "And it’s bothering me."

Lunara let out a short, amused breath. "Is this some kind of pick up line that you used?"

Eryx shot her a flat look. "Do I look like someone who needs pick-up lines?"

Lunara smirked, tilting her head. "I don’t know. Maybe you’re just out of practice?"

His jaw twitched, but he ignored the remark. "I’m serious." He studied her again, as if trying to solve a puzzle that refused to come together.

Lunara let out a dry chuckle, shaking her head. "Seriously? Is this your way of starting a conversation?"

His jaw tightened. "I don’t do pointless conversations."

"Oh? Then what’s this?" She gestured between them. "Some mystery woman suddenly haunts your thoughts, so you drag her into your car for answers?"

Eryx leaned in slightly, his gaze never leaving hers. "I don’t believe in coincidences."

Lunara smirked, though her fingers gripped the hem of her sleeve tightly. "Well, maybe you should. Because that’s all this is. I never had any intention to be around you."

His stare darkened, unconvinced. He had never been the type to forget a face. And yet, the more he looked at her, the more restless he felt. "That’s one more thing, how do you meet my mother?"
