My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back -
Chapter 131: I Love You
Chapter 131: I Love You
The kiss between Eryx and Lunara deepened, the room dim and quiet except for the sound of their breaths. Her hands found their way to the back of his neck, tugging him closer, as if she could pull him into the moment forever.
But then, the buzz of his phone cut through the silence, vibrating on the nightstand.
Eryx groaned, his lips still pressing against Lunara’s as he tried to ignore the persistent buzzing. He didn’t want to stop, didn’t want to break the heated connection between them, but the phone wouldn’t let up. His hand tightened around her waist, as if holding her would somehow stop the interruptions.
Lunara pulled back slightly, her eyes narrowing in amusement. "You’re really going to ignore that?" she asked, her voice muffled as Eryx kissed her again, unwilling to let the moment slip away.
But the phone buzzed louder, more insistent this time, and Eryx finally pulled away, frustrated. He reached over, grabbed the phone from the nightstand, and glanced at the screen. His frown deepened when he saw who was calling.
"Hello," Eryx answered, his voice sharp with irritation.
The voice on the other end was tense. "Mr. Grantham, we’ve been following Young Miss as you instructed, but she’s headed to a small hospital at the edge of the city. We need your decision on how to proceed."
Eryx’s eyes hardened, his hand tightening around the phone before he slowly moved to the side and sat up. "Wait for a while," he mouthed the words to Lunara, his hand automatically fixing her clothes back into place.
Lunara, sensing the shift in his demeanor, watched him in silence as he ran a hand through his hair, clearly annoyed by the interruption. Without another word, Eryx swung his legs off the bed and stood, walking towards the balcony.
He tapped his phone with his fingers, briefly glancing at Lunara. "Stay here," he said, the edge in his voice not lost on her.
Once outside on the balcony, he pressed the phone back to his ear. "Send me the location of the hospital, and keep an eye on Naomi. I need to know everything she’s doing." His tone was clipped, the sharpness betraying his frustration.
The security officer on the other end responded quickly, "Understood, Mr. Grantham. We’ll update you as soon as we have more."
Eryx ended the call and leaned against the railing, his mind already running through the possibilities.
"Is she sick?" he muttered, tilting his head slightly before slowly walking back inside.
"Hey," he called out, looking straight at Lunara, who was now sitting up on the bed. "I need to go somewhere. Don’t wait for me. Go to sleep first."
He sat at the edge of the bed and brushed the hair that had fallen over her face back gently.
"Where are you going?" Lunara asked, holding onto Eryx’s arm tightly, clearly worried since his wound was still not fully healed.
"There’s some urgent business I need to settle as soon as possible." He smiled, hiding the lie. "But you can call me anytime if you need anything, okay?"
Lunara looked at him in silence, as if trying to read him. But as always, she felt hopeless as Eryx’s expressions were always too hard to decipher. In the end, she had no choice but to accept his answer.
"Hmm..." She nodded weakly, her eyes following him as he stood, heading into the dressing room. Moments later, he came out fully dressed.
She managed a small smile, returning the one Eryx gave her as he strode back to her.
Landing a quick kiss on her lips, he said, "Good night." He gazed warmly at her for a few seconds. "I love you."
The words left the room still. Lunara blinked in confusion.
"I love you," he repeated, his voice sincere. He tapped her lightly on the nose, snapping her out of her daze. "I mean it. I was trying to figure myself out before, and I’m sorry if I’m late."
His smile widened, charming and honest, as he rubbed her cheek gently. "Don’t ever feel confused about my feelings anymore, okay?"
Lunara continued to stare at him, wide-eyed and dumbfounded.
"Oh, and there’s one more thing I need to tell you later," he added, "but I have to confirm it with Mom first."
Her curiosity got the better of her. "What is it?"
He shook his head lightly. "I’ll tell you once I have the confirmation, okay?"
He leaned down to kiss her forehead softly, then straightened up. "Go to sleep. Don’t wait for me. I might be late."
Lunara just nodded, deciding not to push him any further.
The soft click of the door closing left the room in sudden, heavy silence.
Meanwhile, Eryx rushed down the stairs and headed straight to the car. The head of security was already waiting for him inside.
"Any new info?" Eryx asked as he slipped into the back seat.
The head of security slid into the front passenger seat and reported, "They said Young Miss is meeting a man. At first, the conversation seemed calm, but they’re currently having a heated argument."
"Man?" Eryx frowned. "Is it Ryan Davis?"
The head nodded, glancing at Eryx through the rearview mirror. "Yes, sir. We’ve confirmed his identity."
Eryx leaned back into the seat, his expression calm. "That’s her boyfriend."
He paused. "Any info about what the argument is about? Did they catch anything?"
The head of security looked hesitant, glancing at the mirror a few times before fully turning toward Eryx.
"Sir, they might have misheard, but... they said Young Miss mentioned something about an abortion."
Eryx’s brows furrowed. "Abortion?" His voice rose slightly. "What do you mean?"
Silence filled the car for a few seconds before the head answered, carefully, "Young Miss said... she didn’t want to abort the baby."
The words dropped like a stone between them, and Eryx sat there, stunned, taking a few moments to process what he had just heard.
Then he ordered sharply, "Uncle, drive fast!"
