Chapter 1321

Chapter 1321: Chapter 1321: Mysterious Creatures_1 Chapter 1321: Chapter 1321: Mysterious Creatures_1 Roger Gibbs knew he could no longer stop them, so he decided to stop concealing the truth.

He said gravely, “This mountain range is incredibly eerie. Once you step inside, your surroundings turn into a gray haze.”

Ethan Smith and Ava didn't dare interrupt, quietly listening to Roger Gibbs's explanation.

Roger continued, “I don't know what this aura is, only that it feels impossibly heavy–like a mountain pressing down on your chest. Even just taking deep breaths, you can feel that oppressive weight settling on your torso.”

“Some people in Sunilope City once speculated about the aura in this mountain range. Some said it was chaotic qi, others said it was netherworld qi, but most believe it's demonic qi.”

Ethan was immediately taken aback and couldn't help but exclaim, “Demonic qi? What in the world is that?”

Not just Ethan, but even Ava and Virgil, both locals of the Holy Region, were equally clueless.

Roger said slowly, “It's just a name coined by the people of Sunilope City.”

Virgil snorted dismissively. “It's just some weird kind of aura. What's so dangerous about that?”

Roger cast a cold glance at Virgil, displeasure flashing in his eyes.

With a light scoff, he said, “If it were just the aura, it wouldn't be too dangerous. But do you know why the aura in this mountain range is called demonic qi?”

“How would I know?” Virgil scowled in response.

It was then that Ethan noticed something unusual.

He rubbed his chin and said, “Could it be… there's something bizarre hidden within this aura?”

“How do you know that?” Now it was Roger Gibbs's turn to be surprised.

Ethan pointed to the scratches on the armor and said, “These marks… they look like they were made by some kind of sharp blade or claws. Coupled with the strange name, demonic qi, I suspected there might be some sort of creature lurking within.”

“Exactly!” Roger nodded.

“The creatures in there are no less dangerous than those in Azure Rock Forest. In fact, some are even more terrifying than the demonic beasts on the outskirts!”

“I once saw with my own eyes someone's head being crushed with a single swipe of a claw!”

“What's even scarier is that we can't even see their true forms. All we can make out is a vague silhouette–a creature glowing with an eerie green light.”

At this, Roger pointed to the scratches on the armor and said, “The creatures vary in strength. That deepest mark nearly tore right through this armor.”

Ethan's eyes narrowed slightly, and he muttered to himself, *”I wonder if my desolate divine eye can pierce through and see these creatures clearly…*

“What?” Roger asked.

Ethan waved it off and said, “Nothing. Please, go on.”

Roger grunted in acknowledgment and said, “This mountain range shares some similarities with Azure Rock Forest. The deeper you go, the stronger these bizarre creatures become.”

At this point, Roger paused again.

His eyes swept across the three of them as he said coldly, “Do you know why some people speculate that this is chaotic qi?”

“It must be because the aura here feels extraordinarily heavy!” Virgil quickly shouted, as though trying to impress Ava.

However, Roger snorted coldly and said, “You can't judge things just by their surface. If you can't see through to the essence, you'll never amount to much.”

Virgil was immediately furious upon hearing this. He gritted his teeth, but in the end, he held back his anger.

“Could it be… this aura restricts cultivation? Is it similar to dark energy?” Ethan speculated aloud.

A smile appeared on Roger's face.

He looked at Ethan with approval and said, “As expected of someone Alin admires. Yes, it's similar to dark energy in that it suppresses cultivation. That's precisely why I've been so reluctant for you all to venture inside.”

The more Ethan listened, the more excited he became.

*His desolate divine eye could see through nearly anything, and now that he no longer had spiritual power, he relied solely on his physical body. The horror of this mountain range seemed far less daunting in his eyes.*

Seeing the smile spreading across Ethan's face, Roger furrowed his brows and said, “I'm telling you this in hopes that you'll turn back while you still can. There's still time to retreat.”

Ethan smiled and said, “Mr. Burton, thank you for the warning, but we still want to take a look.”

“That's right!” Virgil quickly chimed in.

Roger sighed softly and waved a hand dismissively. “If that's the case, I have nothing more to add. But I advise you not to be reckless. If something feels wrong, leave immediately.”

“Of course,” Ethan replied with a respectful bow.

Roger said no more and began descending the mountain.

As Ethan gazed at the vast mountain range, his anticipation grew.

*If he could obtain some Life Aura from within, it would mean restoring his strength.*

*And if that happened, all his problems would be solved.*

“Miss Ava, once we enter the mountain range, make sure to stay behind me,” Ethan said, turning to Ava.

Virgil snorted. “Stay behind you? Kid, you should worry about taking care of yourself first.”

Ethan chuckled. “If you're scared, I won't mind if you stay behind me.”

“Ha! Once we're in the mountain range, I hope you don't wet yourself out of fear,” Virgil shot back.

Throwing that jab, he grabbed Ava's hand and said, “Miss, let's go.”
