Mrs. and Mr. Smith -
Chapter 1322
Chapter 1322: Chapter 1322: The Reckless Virgil_1 Chapter 1322: Chapter 1322: The Reckless Virgil_1 Virgil took the lead, heading towards the mountain range with Ava by his side.
Ethan Smith wasted no time and followed closely behind them.
The mountain range was vast, and the entire Sunilope City was located beneath it.
Ethan Smith had investigated it using the desolate divine eye but saw nothing within the mountains and no trace of the so-called demonic qi.
Therefore, Ethan Smith inferred that there should be little danger near the edge.
As expected, Virgil was cautious along the way, not daring to let his guard down for even a moment.
However, after walking for a long time, they still hadn't encountered the rumored demonic qi and nothing was amiss.
Nothing but the trees that occasionally appeared out of nowhere.
“Damn, that old man must have been bullshitting.” Virgil said coldly.
Ava, however, remained alert and said, “Mr. Burton has no reason to deceive us.”
“That's not necessarily true. Maybe he was just using it as an excuse to scare us off,” Virgil retorted with a sneer.
Ethan Smith ignored him, took the initiative, and walked ahead of the others deeper into the mountain range.
After walking for half a day, the prophesied “demonic qi” finally began to manifest gradually.
The surrounding area became hazy, as if they were all trapped within a cloud of smoke.
As they ventured deeper, the smoke grew thicker.
“Miss Ava, hold on to my hand!” Virgil said urgently.
He tightly gripped Ava's hand, a hint of fear rising in his heart.
Although Virgil had a peculiar temperament, he was utterly devoted to Ava and would willingly die for her.
Ethan Smith didn't dare to think further. He activated his desolate divine eye and kept a vigilant watch on their surroundings.
The smoke grew denser, and the oppressive feeling described by Roger Gibbs began to emerge.
“My chest… It feels so uncomfortable,” Ava was the first to succumb, clutching her chest as if she was struggling to breathe.
Virgil felt the same shortly after, but he didn't say a word.
Even Ethan Smith began to feel a slight discomfort.
This feeling was different from dark energy. Although the spiritual power in his body was suppressed, it didn't carry the cold, bone-chilling sensation the dark energy possessed.
“Whoosh!”
At that moment, a crisp sound pierced through the smoke. A green glow flashed briefly in front of everyone and then vanished without a trace, too fast for anyone to see it clearly.
Meanwhile, a conspicuous mark appeared on Ava's chest.
“Miss Ava, are you okay?!” Virgil panicked.
Ethan Smith quickly walked to Ava's side and whispered, “It's better if you stand behind me.”
Virgil stubbornly said, “I don't need you! I can protect Ava!”
After speaking, he drew his sword and coldly declared, “If that creature dares to show up again, I'll cut it down!”
Ethan Smith glanced at Virgil and shook his head, “With our vision obstructed here, you better not act recklessly.”
“Shut up!” Virgil couldn't be reasoned with.
He tightly gripped his sword and kept a vigilant watch on their surroundings.
As the three of them went deeper, Virgil could clearly feel the spiritual power in his body being completely suppressed.
He was a mighty realm cultivator. Though his spiritual power was suppressed, his body remained formidable, so Virgil still harbored some hope.
Ethan Smith reached out, gently touching the thick, mysterious energy in the air.
To his surprise, he found that despite this energy appearing dense, it was as delicate as gauze and impossible to grasp.
“What kind of energy is this? Demonic qi? There's no record of such a thing in history.” Ethan Smith thought to himself.
This definitely wasn't demonic qi, but rather, a mysterious energy that Sunilope City's people had never encountered before.
“Hum.”
At that moment, green lights appeared in front of them.
The instant the lights appeared, Virgil quickly grabbed his sword, shielding Ava behind him.
However, what surprised him was that the green, mysterious creature didn't just flash by this time; instead, it stood still and silent in front of them.
None of them could see the creature's face, but they could make out its enormous body, which emitted a strange green glow.
Ethan Smith squinted, deploying his desolate divine eye to observe the green creature.
Under the desolate divine eye, everything was exposed. Even the mysterious energy was unable to obscure his vision.
He saw three green humanoid figures, each with horns different from those of the Hominini race.
Their bodies were uneven, and their bean-sized eyes sunken deep within their skulls.
Such a pair of eyes, however, were incredibly piercing.
There was no detectable special energy coming from their bodies, but they possessed a tranquil energy, like a still lake, making it difficult to discover them.
“What… What is this thing?” Ethan Smith couldn't help but exclaim in terror.
This creature looked horrifying, far more terrifying than any demonic ghost!
The others couldn't clearly see the creature's appearance, especially Virgil. Clenching his sword, he roared, “Come on, I'll cut you down with a single swing!”
With that, he charged towards the creature, his sword swinging wildly.
Ethan Smith's expression changed, and he shouted urgently, “No, come back!”
But Virgil didn't listen; he had already lunged at the creatures, his sword slashing blindly at the mysterious beings.
