Chapter 1320: Chapter 1320: What is Hidden in the Mountain Range_1 Chapter 1320: Chapter 1320: What is Hidden in the Mountain Range_1 Ethan Smith couldn't be bothered to explain anything to Virgil.
Meanwhile, Ava softly said, “These two places are full of dangers. It's better if we stick together and look out for each other.”
Virgil sneered, “Look out for each other? What can he do to protect us? Miss Ava, do you really think I need his protection?”
Ethan glanced at him and sneered, “Fine, don't worry. I promise I won't lift a finger to help you.”
“Ha! I don't need your help. Just make sure you don't come begging me to save you when the time comes,” Virgil said coldly.
Ethan didn't bother arguing with him anymore. *It was simply a meaningless waste of time.*
The next day.
When Ethan stepped outside, Virgil and Ava were already waiting at the door.
“Took you long enough. Even if you were racing to eat shit, it would've gone cold by now,” Virgil mocked.
Ethan ignored him and looked toward Ava instead. “Are we all set?” he asked.
Ava nodded slightly and said, “I brought a magical artifact from home, but with my current standing in the family, I couldn't get my hands on anything top-tier.”
Ethan waved his hand dismissively. “No matter. When the time comes, we'll play it by ear. If things get too dangerous, we'll take the first opportunity to escape.”
“Understood,” Ava replied gently. “Let's set off then.”
The location they had tentatively agreed upon was the mountain range behind Sunilope City.
There wasn't a complete path leading from Sunilope City to the mountain range, so the three of them had to climb.
After spending half a day in arduous effort, they finally reached the top of the range.
The entire mountain range stretched for thousands of miles, vast and magnificent.
Gazing into the distance, it resembled the spine of a great dragon.
The mountaintop was rugged and uneven, covered with countless species of trees whose names no one could call to mind.
“What exactly is hidden here, and why are the people of Sunilope City so afraid of it?” Ethan scanned the mountain range, muttering under his breath.
Virgil, standing beside him, frowned and said, “I can't sense any sort of energy flow.”
Immediately, Ethan activated the desolate divine eye to investigate.
But unfortunately, under the gaze of the desolate divine eye, he still couldn't detect anything unusual.
“Whatever. Let's move out,” Ethan said.
With that, he glanced at Virgil and added, “Virgil, take good care of your young lady.”
“Spare me your advice,” Virgil snorted coldly.
Ethan couldn't be bothered to respond. He took a step forward, ready to venture into the mountain range.
But just then, a shadow appeared abruptly out of nowhere.
Looking up, they saw that the newcomer was none other than Roger Gibbs.
He stared coldly at Ethan and the others, an unmistakably displeased look on his face.
“Mr. Burton, what brings you here?”
Seeing Roger, Ethan couldn't help but feel surprised.
Roger snorted and said, “I knew you'd come here. You lot are stubborn as mules.”
Ethan and Ava both showed a trace of embarrassment on their faces.
Virgil, on the other hand, responded coldly, “What's it to you?”
Roger glanced at Virgil and said calmly, “Young people should carry a sense of reverence, or at the very least, learn some manners.”
Virgil opened his mouth, ready to retort, but Ava stopped him in his tracks.
She bowed slightly and said, “Mr. Burton, I know you mean well, but this Life Aura is incredibly important to us. If we don't obtain it, we'll forever be nothing but useless nobodies.”
“If I have to spend a lifetime as a nobody, I'd rather die.”
Roger cast a glance at Ethan, as if silently asking for his opinion.
Ethan replied in a low voice, “I feel the same way.”
Roger sighed softly and said, “In that case, I have nothing more to say.”
Then, with a flicker of his mind, two sets of armor appeared before them.
The armor bore numerous marks from blades, some so deep they nearly pierced through completely.
“Put these on. They might just save your lives when it matters most,” Roger said. “The only pity is that I only have two sets.”
Upon hearing this, Virgil hastily snatched up the two sets of armor, as if afraid Ethan might claim one for himself.
“Virgil!” Ava's expression darkened in displeasure.
Ethan waved his hand and said, “I don't need that thing.”
“Ha! Still trying to act tough, are we?” Virgil sneered.
Even Roger spoke sternly, “Ethan Smith, without armor, it'll be nearly impossible for you to make it out of this mountain range alive.”
*For a moment, Ethan didn't know how to explain himself.*
*Although the armor seemed indestructible, Ethan didn't believe it could surpass the resilience of his own body.*
“Mr. Burton, you don't need to worry about me. I have my own way of handling things,” Ethan said with a polite bow.
“Mr. Smith, take my armor,” Ava said, holding it out to him.
“Miss!” Virgil's face changed, and he reached out to stop her. But Ava stood her ground, determined.
She said coldly, “If you insist on acting this way, I would rather not wear it at all.”
Virgil gritted his teeth and reluctantly handed the armor to Ethan. “Fine–take it!” he snapped coldly.
Looking at Ava, Ethan smiled. “Miss Ava, thank you for your kindness, but I really don't need it.”
Afterward, Ethan turned to Roger and bowed again. “Mr. Burton, it seems that Life Aura truly exists within this mountain range.”
Roger didn't deny it, but he let out another soft sigh.
Ethan pressed on, “Mr. Burton, since we're about to enter the mountain range now, can you tell us what exactly is hidden in there?”
