Chapter 95: IT IS NOT YOUR MISTAKE
Chapter 95: IT IS NOT YOUR MISTAKE
This was what Gavriel had told Dante when he had asked him what was bothering him. And now Dante that to Dove. After all, it was also equally important for Dove to know what was happening to her two beloved people. Hearing this, Dove was stunned for a second, and she stared at Dante blankly. Though she had known that her grandpa’s health was not doing well at all. She had not known to this extent.
Blood rushing from his nose and mouth? It sounded so serious. After all, Senior Sterling had only told her that his health was only declining due to his old age. But it was serious.
"Miss Dove?" Dante called her name softly when he saw that he was zoning out, and softly asked, "Are you alright?"
She came back to her senses and looked at Dante before nodding her head. And then let out a sigh, "Thank you so much, Mr Lancaster. If not for you, my son would perhaps keep it with himself still, and maybe would not have told me yet." She rubbed her face with both her hands, and now feeling guilt settling in her and she sighed, "As his mother, I should have been the one to notice his off behaviour. But I was so distracted with my work that I did not even pay attention about the small details of him, that he was behaving different."
Dante looked at her and frowned not liking at all, how she blamed herself. And he shook his head and said, "You neither have to thank me, Miss Dove, nor do you have to blame yourself. It is not your fault. We are humans, Miss Dove. And sometimes we have a lot in our plates, just like how it was your first day here and you had so much to deal it. And at times like this, it is almost natural that sometimes we overlook a few things that are important for us. And then make mistakes. It is not like you did it willingly."
Dove looked up at Dante and smiled meekly before nodding her head. Then they went inside the house.
Butler Joe had just come out of Senior Sterling’s room with a tray, and looking at that they understood that Senior Sterling had just finished his dinner. As Senior Sterling had to have a lot of medicines, he was consulted to have his dinner earlier. Sometimes, he used to delay his medinies like yesterday. But mostly, he would have dinner earlier.
"Welcome back home, Young Miss." Butler Joe greeted Dove with a smile, then looking at Dante he said, "Welcome home, Master Dante."
"Good evening, Butler Joe." Dante and Dove both greeted him back. The old man was in a very good mood, and he was smiling. After all, he just witnessed a very cute sight of Gavi giving Senior Sterling his favourite flowers. And the old man’s face lit up so brightly like a star. And currently the two great grandson and great grandfather were having heart felt cute conversations.
Dove peeked in the room, and she saw her son and grandfather giggling among themselves, and looking at that she too smiled.
"Young Miss, Master Dante, please get freshened up. I will heat up the food for you." Butler Joe said with a smile. And he was about to turn around and go to the kitchen when Dove called out, "Uncle Joe, wait."
Butler Joe stopped and turned around asking, "Yes, young miss? Do you need something?" Dove smiled at him before nodding her head, "Yes, Uncle Joe. We need to talk to you about something very important."
Butler Joe innocently blinked his eyes, not knowing what Dove wanted to tell about. And then she asked, "Uncle Joe, what happened to Grandpa?"
And Butler Joe froze.
In the living room, the three of them sat there, with Butler Joe having to tell the truth, and Dove and Dante shocked. So it turns out that Senior Sterling was not only facing the old age problems but he was also suffering from a lung illness for the last few years! And he had hidden all these from her because he was afraid that they would all worry too much about him.
Dove felt as if a bucket of freezing water had been splashed on her. And she sat there like a statue. Just then a maid came to them, and said to Butler Joe, that Senior Sterling was calling for him. Butler Joe stood up before he looked at Dove and lowered his head before saying, "Young miss, I will go and see what Senior master needs. Please you don’t have to think to think about it too much. Please get freshened up and I will have some lay the dinner at the table. You must have had a long day today. " He smiled at her, knowing that it was easier said than done but he had nothing that he could do right now.
After he was gone, Dove continued to sit there, and Dante looked at her direction in worry.
Just then, a tear rolled down her eyes and Dante instantly panicked, "Miss Dove?!" Oh no! Dove lightly sniffed and said staring at nothingness, "Mr Lancaster, my grandfather had been secretly going through so much, and I had no idea at all! Tell me, Mr Lancaster, am I not to be blamed. He was suffering all this time, but he still looked after the company, and I did not even know anything? Mr Lancaster, why do I feel so wrong?"
Dante looked at the woman, he himself feeling bad, and shook his head, "Miss Dove, you had nothing you could do. There was nothing in your hands." Dante himself had nothing to say after all. He himself was very heavily sad after knowing about Senior Sterling.
He looked at Dove, who sat there sad, and he said, "Miss Dove, Grandpa is old. I think it would be best if we do what makes him happy. And if he wants us to not know about it, we would ’not know’ about it."
