Chapter 73: NOAH’S HOPE AND DESIRES

"What do you, Mr Lancaster?"

"I am in the security industry, Mr Henley." Dante replied to which Noah nodded his head politely.

"And I have appointed Dante as Dove’s personal bodyguard. We will be taking charge from tomorrow." The next second Senior Sterling announced, which made Noah freeze in his spot. He turned to look at Senior Sterling and asked with a small frown, "But Grandpa, w- what is the need for that?"

Senior Sterling nodded his head and said, "There is a need Noah. Dove will be joining and taking over the company from tomorrow." To which, Noah agreed, yet asked in confusion, "Yes, but we have enough and capable security system at the company. A group is also always deployed for the important members, Grandpa. Beside we also have our own security team for the family."

Senior Sterling smiled and answered, "I know that, Noah. But Dove needs a personal bodyguard as well. After all, she is not only in dangers of the external factors but also in danger in the family. Haven’t you heard and seen what Jacob was up to today? Moreover, we have already discussed it with Dante and Dove. And Dove she herself feels that it is a good idea."

Dove blinked her eyes hearing Senior Sterling say that, and thought to herself. ’Huh? I did not say it was a good idea. But uh, well, I agreed to Grandpa as well.’ She did not say anything but just pressed her lips together.

And when Noah heard him say that, Noah had nothing to object any longer. Since, Dove herself had agreed to it, what could he possibly say in this. And even if he did not agree to it, he couldn’t possibly say it out loud given that he and Dove did not have that close of a relationship to be interfering with her decisions. Because even if Dove had just talked to him politely, he knew it better to not push the limits of his luck.

He just smiled and took a glance at Dante. And there it was again, that salty feeling in his heart. Noah, he used to never like Dove showing interest in some other guys, or any guy showing interest on Dove. He used to hate it, and the jealousy he felt with it. That is why he made sure that no boy got too unnecessarily close to Dove. HE sometimes even used to bad mouth some of them in front of her, like for Roan, to make sure that she sees him the most reliable to come to when ever she needs help.

But then, when he realised his emotions for her, and he started distancing away from her, he stopped doing all of these. Though, he would still try to keep boy away from her, but no longer tried to prove himself to her.

But did that help that jelly feeling to go away from his heart? Not an ounce.

Because just now, he was realising that, that it felt the same way that it used to. The burn was real in his heart. This man, he will be around her almost twenty four into seven? And Noah had to agree that this man was one hell of a fine looking man. Not to mention his undeniable aura. What if Dove fell in love with him? Because personal bodyguard would straight away mean that he would be around Dove all the time, specially when even she was going or meeting someone.

But didn’t Dove already like someone? Her son’s father? But Noah could no longer be sure. After all, that man had not showed himself even if this four years. But then the next second, Noah came to a bitter realisation. What was he feeling bitter about? It wasn’t like Dove would give him a chance even if she did not fall in love with this man called Dante.

But... what if she did? The next moment, strangely he did not know from where he had this absurd thought. And his soul seemed to get suddenly enlightened.

It wasn’t like both of them were related with blood. He was even no longer directly related to her family. Also wasn’t she so sad when he decided to break ties with the family and he wasn’t talking to her. So, maybe she can indeed like him romanticallty if he tried to rectify their relationship, he thought. Moreover, if she did not care what the world had to say about her having a son before marriage, then perhaps she could also except him.

In this way, one thought lead to another and then another, which made him want to believe that he could still get Dove. He was desperate in his heart to begin with, and his thoughts just gave him more and more hope in his heart.

Meanwhile, while he was thinking all of this, while occasionally taking glances at Dove, a certain someone had his eyes fixated on him. Dante was observing this man from when he had stepped in the mansion. And he now was looking at him with his eyes squinted.

Then the Butler came and announced that the dinner was ready. Everyone joined the dinner table. And it was a feast laid on the table. Senior Sterling looked at the table with his heart feeling happy. It had been so long that the house felt so full.

When everyone sat down, it was somewhat coincidental, but Gavriel was seated between Dove and Dante. And when Dante noticed this, a big grin threatened to break on his face, which he fought very hard to supress. So that he did not look like a grinning fool for no reason. Calix also noticed this, and he lightly chuckled. He was sitting on the other side of Dante and he leaned towards his Boss, and whispered to him, "Boss, just smile already. Or your cheeks would ache."

Dante looked at Calix, a little obvious and asked, "Is my happiness so obvious?" To which, Calix chuckled again before nodding his head.
