Chapter 132: YOU CAN KEEP YOURSELF ENTERATINED

But even if we set that aside," Roan continued sharply, "it doesn’t matter if you or your CEO don’t care about Davis Enterprises’ losses. But does she not care for her own company?"

A heavy silence followed his words.

Grace looked at him, then at the executives who had gathered. She noticed how their expressions turned solemn.

The executives and directors had already been confused and dissatisfied with Dove’s decision. Now, hearing Roan’s words only deepened that dissatisfaction. They exchanged glances, some whispering among themselves, clearly questioning the wisdom of their CEO’s move.

This was bad. But there was little she could do about it. Sighing, she met Roan’s and CEO Philip’s eyes and said, "That, Mr. Roan, is something you should consider properly yourself.

From what I’ve heard, the Sterling family once had a good relationship with the Davis family. So, you must know CEO Dove better than I do. Despite working for her for only four years, I can confidently say she is a very smart woman. Every decision she takes is meticulously thought out. If she were prone to making reckless choices, she wouldn’t have so many remarkable achievements to her name.

I’ve seen her strategize firsthand. I’ve seen the way she tackles complex situations. She is not someone who makes hasty decisions just to satisfy a whim. There is always a reason behind her actions, even if they are not immediately apparent to the rest of us. If she has chosen to go down this route, I have no doubt that she has already anticipated every possible outcome."

Her words seemed to settle into the minds of those around her. She could see some executives nodding slightly, considering her words carefully.

"Therefore," she continued, "I have nothing more to say on this matter, Mr. Roan and CEO Philip. I trust my boss to make the best decisions for the company’s welfare. The rest, I will wait and see."

With that, she stood up from her seat. She had delivered the message she wanted to—both to the Davis representatives and to the executives who had begun to harbor doubts in their hearts. And honestly, she was tired.

Standing up from the couch, she said, "Then, CEO Philip and Mr. Noah, I will take my leave. I have much more important work to attend to."

Her words carried an indirect but clear message—that the father-and-son duo was wasting not only their own time but everyone else’s as well.

She pressed her lips into a polite smile and added, "If you wish, you and your assistants may stay and entertain yourselves while waiting for CEO Dove. I’ll send someone to bring you refreshments. Excuse me."

With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Philip and Roan dumbstruck and speechless.

Were they left feeling humiliated? Yes.

Had she been disrespectful in her address? No.

Did they have a valid counterargument to what she had said? Also no.

As Grace strode toward the exit, she noticed Noah standing by the door, his hands tucked into his pockets. She gave him a polite nod before leaving.

She just hoped that whatever Dove was planning would turn out for the best. After all, she had thrown some big words out there, and now she had to stand by them.

Meanwhile, after Grace left, neither Philip nor Roan moved. They seemed deep in thought. Their assistants, who had remained silent and almost invisible throughout the exchange, now exchanged glances, hesitant about what to do next. The atmosphere in the room had grown heavy with uncertainty.

Had the lady’s words affected them so much that they had turned to stone?

Sighing, Philip’s assistant lowered his head slightly toward his boss and spoke in a low voice. "Boss, I don’t think staying here will do us any good. CEO Dove is not answering our calls, and it’s evident that the staff here does not welcome us.

Why not return and come up with a more effective strategy?"

Philip closed his eyes for a moment before turning toward his son, who was frowning and pressing his lips tightly together. Roan sighed but eventually nodded, agreeing with his father’s assistant. Staying here wasn’t helping them at all.

Noah, who had been silently observing the entire scene, sighed before walking away. As he left, his lips curled into a tiny smirk.

Honestly, he couldn’t care less about the Davises. He had never felt any real connection with them anyway. In fact, he had developed a dislike for them ever since Dove’s engagement was arranged with Roan.

He had never liked that man being around Dove. Call it irrational, but that grudge had remained in his heart—especially now that he had finally decided to confront the feelings he had long buried for Dove.

Even earlier, when he had questioned Dove’s decision, it hadn’t been out of concern for the Davises. Instead, it was for her. He had been worried about the dissatisfaction spreading among the executives and directors. He had seen how uneasy some of them had grown over the past few days. His only concern was how this decision would affect Dove, not how it would affect the Davises.

In any case, the Davises were not thick-skinned enough to continue lingering. They stood up and left.

When they reached the parking lot, Roan turned to his father and asked, "Dad, what are we supposed to do now? Should we just move on and look for another brand?"

He was referring to the project that Sterling Corporation had pulled out of.

Philip scoffed and shook his head. "Hah! I’m not letting go of that matter yet! We invested a lot of money in it. Besides, do you think we’ll find a better brand than Sterling Corporation for that project so easily?

We’ll give it another strong attempt. And if that doesn’t work, then Sterling Corporation should also be prepared to take a hit to their reputation."

With a grim expression, Roan nodded in agreement.

They climbed into their car, but neither of them spoke for a while. Philip sat in the backseat along with Roan in thought. Roan stared out the window, jaw tight.

"We have to find a way," Philip muttered, more to himself than to Roan. "Sterling Corporation cannot be allowed to just walk away without consequence."

"And what if Dove already predicted this?" Roan asked suddenly, turning to his father. "What if she knew we would try something?"

Philip narrowed his eyes but said nothing.

What they didn’t know, however, was that the bigger shock was yet to come.
