Chapter 114: IT IS COMPLICATED, MR LANCASTER

Though, there was no real need for telling Dante all this truth, in fact Dove did not even know why was she telling him these.

But she just felt like telling. Because maybe he trusted her? She hasn’t even told her grandfather any of it yet. Lisa knew, because she was a little part of it, and Dove was thankful for it.

But Dante? He was a complete different person who had nothing to do with it, even if he did not know. But Dove still did not why was she telling him all this.

After she was done, she smiled at him a little bitterly and said, "Now maybe, the image you had of me must have shattered. What Cara Davis said there, wasn’t all completely wrong, Mr Davis. I really don’t know how the father of my child is. And all I have ever heard from him was a letter? Was it from him, I don’t even know that."

It would be a lie if Dante said that he wasn’t shocked to hear all of this. After all, now that listened the whole gravity of the situation back then, from Dove herself did he understand it.

He then looked at her, and asked, "So you still believe in that letter? Are you still waiting for him?" And as he asked that, his heart beat caught speed. Because her answered mattered a lot. After all, that letter was sent by him himself!

On being asked this, Dove smiled a little and said, "It is complicated, Mr Lancaster. It would be wrong if I said that yes, but then it would also be wrong if I say that no."

Dante did not understand and looked at her in question. Dove took a minute and then said, "I am not really waiting for anyone Mr Lancaster. After all, it has already been four years and no one showed up. In fact I don’t even know if it was something real or someone just pranked with me.

If someone was to come, then he would have come by now, Mr Lancaster. There was no name, no address, just an promise of support." Dove then sighed and said again, "But then that letter, it was also something that held me during some times, when I thought I would just shatter.

There were a few times, when despite everything I could not take it. And then I remembered that letter, and no matter how much I did not believe it consciously, at the back of my mind I belived it. It probided me a strange support.

I felt as if there was someone who actually cared for my son same as theirs. As someone really came in time, and if he is acceptable, it would be good, because Gavi would finally get a father."

Dante stared at Dove and asked, "And what about you, Miss Dove? Gavi would get a father? And you? You have no expectation for your husband?"

That took Dove by surprise. And she surprisedly looked at Dante, before lowering her eyes and shook her head, "I haven’t really thought about it. Gavi, is my life, Mr Lancaster. I just want him to be happy.

And if I ever have to marry, i would rather marry someone who accepts my child as his own first.

So, if there is any man who came someday, and is acceptable. He may enter our family. After all, Gavi believes that now. But if no one ever came, or if he is too late to come, then there better be noone."

At this, Dante understood everything that Dove wanted to say. For her, if she ever gets a life partner for her then the only eligibility is that he should love her son as his own. And who better than the biological father.

But she has no wish for her own. Because she had never thought about romance for herself.

At this point, hearing that Dove was ready to allow Gavi’s biological father in their lives, Dante was so tempted to finally tell her that he was the one!

But he held back. Because he realised one truth. If Dove were to know that he was Gavi’s father, she would perhaps never fall for him the way he wants her to. She would maybe only think that he had come to them just for Gavi.

So he gave up the idea to confess about it to her right now. He would first make her fall in love with him.

Seeing Dante keep quiet, Dove pressed her lips together. And after a while asked, "You must be thinking that Cara Davis was right, isn’t it? I don’t really have that pure image, how you thought, Mr Lancaster."

Dante had an image about her, that actually touched Dove to the core. He had heard every rumour about her. And when it would be the most obvious thing to actually doubt the rumours to be the truth or at least see her differently and ask her about it. Dante did nothing of it.

He just believed that Dove was in the clear. And it was her own private matter.

And Dove did not want to be someone who would perhaps keep him in the dark about his perspective. She just did not want to, specially after their interaction in the last few days. Maybe, because despite the not very long time he had been around her, Dove and already started to rely on him a little.

Hearing her, Dante furrowed his eyebrows deeply and said, *What are you even saying, Miss Dove! My perspective about you is still the same, if not better. I never knew you were so brave, Miss Dove." Dove looked up at him in surprise and heard him say, " I just don’t see you at any fault, Miss Dove. Maybe you are in fault in the eyes of the world, but not mine." Because how could be when he was a part of it, himself.

"And you are still pure in all ways, Miss Dove. And you always will be."

Hearing him say that, Dove felt her eyes sting. It was the first time, that she had laid the most vurnerable part of her life in front of someone so barely. And Dante just soothed it in the most needed way.

Dove herself did not know that, but whatever he said her, was something she had desperately wanted to hear forever.
