I wiped off the blood on my lips using the back of my hand.

’What are you talking about?’. I asked the gentle voice.

’Huh? But I didn’t say anything’. Elektra said to me.

’Not you, Elektra. It was the gentle voice I was asking’. I replied to her.

’Oh. What a bummer that I am not able to hear the gentle voice, Clara. It feels weird whenever you reply to the voice because I can hear your thoughts but not the voice that you are replying to’. Elektra admitted, and I understand her.

’So, gentle voice, what do you mean by that?’. I asked the voice and purposely included ’gentle voice’, so that Elektra would understand that it wasn’t her that I was talking to.

The Lycan King’s handsome face had become paler than before.

Though I wouldn’t lie, his pale face did justice to his handsomeness and made him look even more dead handsome.

’Are you sure you can bear to watch him die? If that’s the case, don’t use your black magic. I don’t even want you to use it. But, remember, regrets and mistakes can ruin someone’s life, just like they ruined mine. I hope you won’t regret it, as he’s your mate. And even you can’t deny that. I will leave you a clue. She ignored me and did not reply to me, but I bet she must be listening to my voice wherever she has disappeared to.

I stared at the Lycan King and bit the lower part of my lips.

I don’t want him to die.

A huge part of me didn’t want him to die.

I grabbed his hand and decided to trust the gentle voice.

Seriously, what other choice do I have? Should I just watch the Lycan King slowly die? I can’t do that. I am a doctor. I save lives, not watch them die.

The only lives I don’t save are the ones who deserve to die. And the Lycan King... I don’t think he deserves to die after being wronged for more than half of his life.

Honestly, I think it’s high time I stopped believing rumors, because rumors and made-up stories made me believe that the Lycan King was a cold-blooded killer who killed his entire family, all the Lycans and his werewolf subjects.

If only the truth about demons had not been revealed to the world, not only me, but everyone would probably still strongly believe right now that the Lycan King had lied to everyone twenty years ago, and that it wasn’t a demon who did that tragic thing to his pack.

Without a single bit of doubt in me, I believed that black shadow was the demon who did that evil deed to the Lycan King’s pack, because, how the heck did he get his hands on the dark liquid crystal if he didn’t attack the Lycan King’s pack?

"Beta Damien, protect Anders in case that wicked demon returns". I said to him, before I teleported away with the Lycan King.

Since I needed to use my black magic to absorb the dark liquid crystal that was tormenting the Lycan King, I couldn’t possibly do that in the presence of Beta Damien, lest he know that I have terrifying dark powers.

Beta Damien’s pov,

Alpha Anastasia suddenly disappeared with the Lycan King, causing my suspicion to grow.

Lately, I have had this strong feeling that she was hiding something important from me.

It started the moment she awakened her powers and informed me and elder Penelope about it.

At that moment, even though it lasted for only a brief second, I saw deceit in her eyes. But she was great at masking her true facial expressions. I can’t even tell what was going on in that head of hers.

"Hey, you. Try to keep up with me". I said to Anders and wanted to shift into my wolf form, until I recalled that we were inside a five-star hotel that belonged to humans.

I didn’t want to ruin their building for them, simply out of respect.

I had the urge to figure out where Alpha Anastasia and the Lycan King had disappeared off to. If Alpha Anastasia wasn’t hiding anything from me, she would have taken me to wherever she went.

Anders hesitantly nodded at me and stood up from the sofa.

He did not even bother to ask me any questions about where we were about to go.

Well, I preferred it that way.

I didn’t want or need him disturbing me with questions.

’Nothing should happen to the cats if they stay behind’. I thought and walked in the direction of the door, but something like an invisible force hit me before I could open the door, and my body ended up in midair.

Although I landed on my feet, I felt pain in my body, combined with a ringing pain in my head.

"What the heck was that?". I was massaging my temples as I said and glared at the door.
