Chapter 138: Chapter 138 Lost Memory (2)_1
Dugu Qianye gathered her thoughts and continued to tour with the others, leaving the Divine Altar, she had an idea in her heart.
At dusk, the people of Rain Hall sent them back to Yingke Courtyard. Upon leaving, they said, "Today we visited the four major areas of Holy Sea City. The next few days are scheduled for you to have free time. Everyone can cultivate, as you should feel that the Phantom Power here is much denser than on the Continent. You can also go out and explore, and the nearby islands are available to visit too. Just don’t go to the places we mentioned today that are off-limits."
Dugu Qianye returned to her room and recalled the layout of Holy Sea City in her mind.
To the east of the city lay Wind Temple, which was relatively smaller than the other three temples. The architecture here was predominantly Eastern, with no particularly hidden places or many so-called restricted areas. It was said that the Wind Temple Master was rather romantic, so Wind Temple had the most females.
To the south lay Rain Hall. Rain Hall had the largest number of people in the Divine Temple, and its master also possessed the highest Phantom Power among the four temple masters. The disciples of Rain Hall had the strongest overall strength, apart from those in Thunder Temple, so most of those who went out on missions were from Rain Hall. The buildings here were built closer together, likely due to the population density. There were two places here that were off-limits: one was Niu Yan’s courtyard, and the other was the Divine Temple Master’s courtyard. Apart from their status, these two places didn’t have any particular distinguishing features from the outside.
To the west lay Thunder Temple. Thunder Temple had the fewest people but the highest strength in the Divine Temple, with most being Phantom Emperors and a few of them Advanced Phantom Ancestors. Thunder Temple was the Divine Temple’s enforcement hall; anyone who violated the temple’s rules was punished by Thunder Temple. There was a place for imprisoning disciples who broke Divine Temple rules, which they didn’t approach closely because it was a restricted area.
To the north lay Fire Temple. Fire Temple was mainly inhabited by Alchemists, Artifact Refiners, Beast Tamers, and so on. Therefore, even though the Phantom Power level of its people was the lowest, their status was not. In addition, since Alchemists and Artifact Refiners required tranquility for their work, the north of the city was typically off-limits to outsiders.
Beyond the four cardinal directions was the city center, which had several courtyards. One belonged to the Divine Temple Master of Shen Xingzong, another to the Divine Temple’s Saint Heir Yun Jin, and another to the Saintess Shen Wanqing. Additionally, there were the residences of some disciples of Shen Xingzong.
Besides these, there was the altar.
After careful analysis, Dugu Qianye thought that if her mother were indeed in the Divine Temple, the most likely places were the location in Thunder Temple where they detained people and that altar which made her feel so uneasy.
Thinking of the altar, Dugu Qianye also remembered the fleeting figure. Such a fearful reaction made her urgently want to know what Little Qianye had encountered back then and why she had such a strong aversion to the Divine Temple. She signaled Xiaojiu to keep watch outside while she flickered into the Refining Demon Pot.
Dugu Qianye first greeted Mo Chi and the others, then went to the house they had built during this time. Touching the earring on her right ear, she said, "Jiang Yu, I need your help."
A figure dressed in red with white hair and utterly enchanting charm appeared in the room, smiling at Dugu Qianye with a knowing look. However, it didn’t evoke even the slightest unusual glint in the eyes of the person in front of him, which started to make him doubt his own allure.
"What do you want me to do?" Jiang Yu asked.
"It’s not a command, because this isn’t an order," Dugu Qianye said. "Although you follow me only because of the reason related to Dandan, I don’t consider you as my accessory. We are living together as companions; we are friends."
Jiang Yu was taken aback, then asked, "What do you want me to do?"
"I want to know if you can read all memories in the Phantom Realm Heart," Dugu Qianye asked.
"Of course, in my Phantom Realm, there’s nothing I can’t see," Jiang Yu replied.
"What about memories that have been forgotten?"
"Forgotten?" Jiang Yu said, "Memories are the act of engraving experiences in one’s mind. They are real and exist. Even if you feel you can’t recall them, it only means you haven’t seen them, but they are still in your mind. So even if they have been forgotten by someone, I can see them. What is it?"
"You know, I’m not from this world. After the original body died, I reincarnated into her. I found there was a period of her memory missing, not long, but very important. I want you to help me retrieve that memory," Dugu Qianye said.
"That’s not a problem. However, if it’s something she forced herself to forget, it’s usually an experience one is reluctant to relive. Are you sure you want to see it?" Jiang Yu asked.
"See. I am not her!" After Dugu Qianye spoke, she walked over and sat down on the chair, saying, "Take me in."
Seeing Dugu Qianye had made up her mind, Jiang Yu returned to the Skeleton Earring, releasing some white fog that enveloped Dugu Qianye.
On a sunny afternoon at the outskirts of Cangmang Mountain, three children, around eleven or twelve years old, threw a little girl who looked to be six or seven on the ground. That figure was unmistakably Little Qianye at the age of eight.
"Why did you bring me here?!" Little Qianye asked timidly, looking up at the three people.
"Nothing much, just to see if you can survive on your own here until tomorrow. Ha ha, the Mo Family’s waste, I bet that you can’t even make it through tonight. Ha ha ha ha." The tall boy in the middle laughed and said, "Even if you go missing, the Mo Family won’t know it was us who did it."
"Living like this is pointless for you, you might as well provide us with some entertainment."
"What can a piece of trash do? Hurry up and get inside, and if you manage to come out tomorrow, I’ll let you go. My bet is that you’ll be able to come out tomorrow."
"Trash, get in there quick."
Each cry of ’trash’ was like a knife stabbing into Little Qianye’s heart. Anger replaced fear, and she scrambled up from the ground, running up to the boy in the middle, grabbing his hand, and biting down hard. Her anger turned into strength, and her teeth sank deep into his flesh.
"Ahh!" The boy howled in pain, and it took the other two quite an effort to push her away. Using too much force, she was thrown back to the ground again.
"You little bitch, I’ll kill you," the boy shouted at Little Qianye, looking at his hand bleeding profusely.
Little Qianye, however, got up from the ground and, taking advantage of the three being distracted, ran towards the woods. Seeing Little Qianye running, the three of them didn’t care about their wounds or the dangers inside and chased after her.
Knowing that getting caught meant death, Little Qianye ran with all her might, miraculously outrunning the three of them.
For some reason, not a single Phantom Beast was seen in the outskirts of Cangmang Mountain, and the four of them ran all the way to the middle area.
"Stop, you little bitch!"
"When I catch you, I’m going to skin you alive."
"Even trash can run that fast, damn it. Whew, I’m exhausted."
"Ah—" Little Qianye, looking back, tripped over a rock and twisted her ankle.
