Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 92. She Is My Fiancé
Chapter 92: 92. She Is My Fiancé
In the next room, Alex was seated on the bed as the nurses cleaned the wound on his head and the blood that had managed to trail down to his collar and he had to take off his clothes to be able to do that. The nurses blushed at the sight of his perfectly toned body.
Usually, he would feel disgusted by their stares and bashfulness, but that was not his concern at the moment, his attention was on the call with Kai.
"Have you found the cause?" He asked. His tone was cold, even scaring the two nurses attending to him even though they were not ones he was talking to.
"It’s brake failure," Kai replied, and Alex frowned.
"I know that. I want to know the cause. Why did it fail?" He rephrased his question. Anyone could tell the accident was caused by brake failure, but why?
"The brakes were tampered with," he said with a sigh. Alex could imagine him massaging hs temple. "Before you ask, I am working on it. Once I find who is responsible, I will let you know," Kai said, already knowing what his next question would be.
"You have until the day morning to give me a name," Alex said. His held the hand that lingered much longer than it should in his chest as he lifted his head and glared sharply at the nurse who was too brazen for her own good.
She stiffened and tried to pull her hand off his grip, but all her effort proved vain. She silently pleaded with her eyes since he was still on a phone call.
"I will do my best, Alex. You have my word," Came Kai’s words before the call was disconnected, and Alex directed his full attention to the nurses.
The one whose hand he held was on the verge of breaking into tears, the other one was shaking as she tried to keep herself standing.
"What were you trying to do?" Alex glared at the woman. She was too bold for on good, and someone needed to put her on her place. Just because he allowed them to touch him didn’t give them the right to do, and they pleased.
"I... I am...sorry. Pleaee..." she begged. Her hand was becoming numb, and she could no longer hold back the tears anymore, but she didn’t want to cry before a stranger. She didn’t know if her tears would make him even angrier. He sidny seems like other men to fall for a weeping and sympathize with her. "I am sorry," she said, her voice trembling as she spoke.
Alex looked at her, disgust filled his gaze, and his anger rose. Couldn’t they read the room? He was already in a foul mood because of the accident and Sara’s unconscious state, but they just had to push more buttons. Trying to take advantage of him in the name of treating his wounds.
"Get out," he said, releasing her hand abruptly and she staggered nearly fully on him but efore she could, her colleague saved her before things became worse than they already were as they ran out.
The moment they left the room, Ian walked in with a new shirt for Alex. "President..." he was surprised why the nurses ran away, but seeing the heavy frown on Alex’s face, he knew that they must have done something to warrant his anger towards them.
"Where is the woman with you?" Alex asked, referring to Sadie. Right now, he trusted no one. He didn’t want to doubt her, but it was too good a coincidence to ignore.
"She is standing guard at the door. She wouldn’t leave even if I told her told," Ian replied. The woman was still a mystery to him, but he didn’t dare to ask now. Perhaps once things settle down, he would ask about it.
Alex didn’t reply as his mind once again became clouded with thoughts. He picked the shirt and put it on, then rose to his feet. "Has Walter finished his examination?"
"I am not certain, President."

Away from the hospital, where the accident happened, Adam, who was just driving by, saw as the familiar car was being towed away. He slowed down just to be sure he was seeing things right. As soon as he did, he quickly drove after the tow truck, where he found Alex’s assistant giving instructions on the front passenger seat.
He didn’t think much about it and honked at the driver who slowed down. Once Kai noticed who he was, he signaled for the driver to slow down while quickly, ending the call he was on.
"I am expecting results as soon as possible. Find the culprit, we don’t have much time," he said, and after a moment, he disconnected the call. "Stop the truck for a moment," he said to the truck driver.
"secretary Wilson," Adam came down from his car and approached them once he was sure that they wouldn’t keep moving.
"Young Master Crawford," Kai also came down from the car, but he didn’t move away from it after closing the door.
Adam approached the battered car with furrowed brows, worry etched on his countenance as his gaze ransacked the vehicle. "This belongs to Sara, right?" He asked even though he already knew the answer to that question.
"Yes, it is," At his reply, he saw as panic settled on Adam’s expression. This came as a surprise to Kai because Adam had never shown any interest in anything concerning Sara until now. Perhaps he didn’t despise her enough to see her die?
"Miss Ambrose has already been taken to the hospital for treatment. She is no longer in danger," Kai added. He studied Adam for a while, long enough to see him turn restless.
"Which hospital was she taken to? I want to see her," He demanded, and Kai quickly rejected the idea.
"She is not allowed to receive guests now, Young Master Crawford. Exercise a little patience," How could he allow Alex and Adam to meet? Things were already as they were. He didn’t need to deal with a family issue.
"She is my fiance, Secretary Wilson. I am not just a guest," Adam’s voice suddenly became firm and demanding, anger simmering just below the surface. "Where was she taken?"
